If you’re keen on networking with international intellectuals, scholars, and politicians, consider this degree program abroad. The one-year MAIR program at The American College of the Mediterranean leverages our strategic location in Southern France. This 36 credit-hour master’s (two semesters, plus January Term and summer work) consists of the following: - Required three-credit core and language courses (15 credits) - Electives (9 credits) - Required thesis workshop in the first semester (1 credit) - Intersession traveling seminar (3 credits) - Required thesis seminar during the second or summer semester (2 credits) - Internship during the second or summer semester (3 credits) - Master’s Thesis (3 credits) The program builds on the historic academic tradition of the Institute for American Universities (IAU) – ACM's study abroad institute – as one of the first American institutions abroad to prepare students for careers as diplomats in the Foreign Service or international business. Admission to the MAIR requires a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent (120 units of academic credit), with some proficiency in at least one language other than English.

Program Highlights

Have the opportunity to conduct field studies and short-term research in Brussels, Strasbourg, Geneva, Paris, Madrid, Rabat, and Istanbul.

Observe international organizations such as the European Commission, the European Parliament, NATO, and consulates and embassies in North Africa and Turkey.

Take French language and culture courses, or either Arabic or Spanish if you’re a Francophone speaker.

Take on an internship in a government or non-government organization, or an international business in the region or elsewhere.

Maximize your time in Aix by joining a wide range of activities, from lecture series to sports to soirées with other students.
