Tanzania Host Volunteer (THV) Animal Welfare project is a fantastic opportunity for volunteers to assist a local vet with treating a range of farm and domestic animals. Volunteers gain animal care experience while visiting farms and homes around Arusha to deliver and demonstrate animal care in action in a developing country. Help assist a local vet with a variety of veterinary projects, while working with a wide range of domestic and farm animals. Support the team at the shelter with the handling and care of the strays. Provide medical care and training.

Volunteers gain animal care experience while visiting farms and homes around Arusha to deliver and demonstrate animal care in action in a developing country. Help assist a local vet with a variety of veterinary projects, while working with a wide range of domestic and farm animals. Support the team at the shelter with the handling and care of the strays. Hands-on hospital exposure — Work alongside experienced, English-speaking doctors and nurses in a government-operated hospital in Arusha, gaining real insight into daily patient care.
Practical clinical skills — Assist with tasks like blood pressure measurement, basic triage, wound care, and medication preparation, alongside core observational learning.
Real community impact — Help bring basic healthcare access to rural Tanzanian communities that are otherwise underserved by medical services.
Flexible program length — Choose a placement anywhere from 1 to 24 weeks, with new starts on the first and third week of every month, so it's easy to fit around school terms or gap-year travel.
