Made my two trips to the city very easygoing and enjoyable

I did two trips to Sevilla Spain. I had a really great time and life experience. Sevilla location is an amazing that it helps to arrange trips during the weekends . ( trips like, to Morocco , Portugal and many cities in Spain or Europe) . Besides the location, Sevilla has many things to offer .It is a historical city and it has many places to visit. As well as, it is not an expensive city for life costing. It is very suitable for students/ interns budget , if I compare it to Madrid or Barcelona. Spanish institute is a great guidance, organizing and supporting that it made my two trips to the city very easygoing and enjoyable . I had internships and classes ( Spanish language class) . They were very well and organized. I learned a lot in Spanish class . Thanks for my teacher Sandra . As well as thanks to for Catherine for organizing everything. I am looking forward to come again .

I took a one week course that was 16 hours of class. The staff at Spanish Institute was incredibly nice and welcoming. They organised a few trips to get to see the city and attend cultural events like a flamenco show/class and in some regular classes there was also a focus on understanding and learning about Spanish culture which was very helpful and interesting. Would recommend this to anyone who thinks about starting to learn spanish or wants to become fluent and wants to take the next step.

La recomiendo ampliamente! A perfect school to learn Spanish and Spanish culture. The teachers are very professional and friendly. I learned a lot in just two weeks. It’s not far from the center of Seville. I highly recommend it!

I studied at the school for 4 months and had an excellent experience. The content is dynamic and adapted to the student’s needs, and the environment is extremely welcoming. Another highlight, in my opinion, is the teaching of local history and culture. Seville is a city rich in culture, and the school manages to convey this perfectly, whether during classroom lessons or on field trips, exploring the main places in the city with the teachers while sharing the historical context. I also had the opportunity to debate current topics in Spanish, which was very enriching for my vocabulary and overall life experience, as I got to know the opinions and perspectives of classmates from other countries. I recommend it wholeheartedly!

One of the best experiences in my life

I have attended the one month service-learning program in the field of education. So far this was one of the best experiences in my life. Living in seville was amazing. Seeding Lurdes big hugs, she was the woman who hosted me in her house, she is the best! At first I had a bit of a hard time because I wasn’t understanding everything in Spanish, but after a couple of days it has improved significantly. Having Spanish classes and having to use Spanish to communicate with everyone around me made me acquire the language much faster. Also the Team of the Spanish institute - Paula, Macarena, Maria Jose, Gloria and Rocio were all amazing and sweet and had so much patience with us the students. Living alone in a new country with a new language for a month at the age of 18 was such a positive experience, I learned lots of things in this journey and I enjoyed it so much! For those attending I really recommend two main things: 1. Asking the Spanish institute when they are receiving students and how many, and to start the program with them. Because in this way it will be easier to make friends and have people to know and spend time with during your stay. I was so lucky to meet the American students there who came to seville for a study abroad program, and other girls from Europe and my roommate who was from brazil, they were all amazing. Therefore I recommend starting the program when the institute receives a new group of students. 2. Having a background in the Spanish language. I feel like this is very important, it would have been very hard for me if i attended there without knowing a little bit of spanish before, I think it’s very important and would make things easier. You don't have to be fluent or anything, but just knowing basic things in the language. I am really grateful I decided to attend this program, and I miss seville so much!

My experience at Spanish Institute has been very enriching. The three months of my internship have passed very fast, I have lived many experiences, known new places and work alongside with people that anyone would like to have at their placement. Within the company, they welcome you, teach you and make you grow as a worker as well as a person. If you have the opportunity to do an internship in Spanish Institute, take advantage of it and go for it. Apart from learning both English and Spanish, they train you for work opportunities and give you their support whenever you need it.

One of my best summer

I have done an internship and studied Spanish at SIGE. It is my second time with SIGE. The experience is amazing as usual. They are very friendly and welcoming. The accommodation was excellent ( Safe and clean ) and It was not far from SIGE. As well as that, It was also not far from the city center. The Spanish classes with Sandra were great and I learned & improved a lot. My internship, on the other hand, was super cool. I was more than happy to practice my skills in photo editing and video editing, as well as participating in developing marketing & advertising strategies. I had an amazing time and it is sad to leave. However, I am looking forward to coming back again next summer.

Going abroad is a crucial step in coming a more conscious global citizen. You truly will learn more about a culture, while simultaneously learning more about yourself. It is a challenge, but in the best way. You will be challenged to go outside of your comfort zone while also having an amazing time exploring and experiencing all realms of a different culture.

From before I arrived until the very last day, the support and assistance of SIGE was indispensable and as genuine as it gets. I can think of no other way to have achieved the level of immersion and language learning that I did without the program, and will always remember this experience as a truly unique and special time that has been the ultimate gift.

I am so glad my school has a partnership with SIGE. SIGE is a great program to study abroad with. It is small and intimate but full of excursions and entertaining classes. Maria Jose is a wonderful teacher and anticipates every one of your needs. The rest of the staff are warm and fun to be around.

As a pre-med student who is still in the process of applying to medical schools, deciding to go abroad could be viewed as very risky. It is custom for such students to spend every semester of their undergraduate career taking rigorous classes, doing research, and shadowing doctors. Instead, I decided to go to Spain on the basis that I wanted to become as close to fluent in Spanish as possible. I accomplished this goal with flying colors thanks to the wonderful people at Spanish Institute for Global Education, as well as the knowledgeable professors at la Universidad de Sevilla. I am eternally grateful for this experience that I was provided with, and will never forget what SIGE did for me. Furthermore, my living situation was ideal for the goal that I set forth for myself. My host mom was extremely sociable and talked to me as if I was a native. That is to say, she did not slow down her lexicon to the degree that she would with a typical foreigner. Thus, every time that I talked to her I improved. Additionally, her and I became so close that I know I could visit Sevilla in a decade and still have a place to stay.

My experience thus far in Spain has been nothing short of exceptional. I owe this to SIGE and the people there who make living in a new country both easy, informational, and fun. Over the past few months, I've been able to enjoy many new experiences including traveling around Europe, taking classes at the University of Sevilla, making new friends, eating Spanish food, and talking to locals. Taking classes at the University has allowed me to meet many people, my host family is perfect, and SIGE has equipped me with everything I need to enjoy study abroad. Overall, I feel like I've been able to both improve my command of the Spanish language and grow as a person.

Sevilla semester

This semester I spent with SIGE has been wonderful. The program is smaller then most others in Sevilla however that does not limit your ability to get to know other study abroad students. SIGE has wonderful staff who is like your family here in Sevilla. They also have a wonderful homestay program where its one student to a house. The homestay are located about a 40 minute walk from the center and is not located where most other Study abroad students live but that is not as big an issue as you might think. The excursions through out Andalusia are pretty cool and all included in the program. You get to talk classes at the university of Sevilla with tuns of other study abroad students and you get to know them well. SIGE does a good job of both giving you freedom and keeping you accounted for and safe. SIGE also keeps you informed with things happening in Sevilla and helps you connect with Spanish students you can get to know. All in all I really liked SIGE especially when comparing it to some of the bigger more factory like study abroad programs that are run in Sevilla.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the weather like in Seville?

Seville’s weather changes with the seasons. Winters are around 50–60°F, sometimes dropping to the low 40s. Spring warms to the 70s–80s with some rain. Summers can reach 100°F, so people avoid the sun during peak heat. Fall cools back to the 70s before winter returns.

How’s the food and water?

Spain offers delicious and healthy food, based on the Mediterranean diet with bread, rice, vegetables, meat, fish, and olive oil. Meals are mild, not spicy. Tap water is safe. Lunch is usually 2–3:30 PM, dinner around 9–10 PM, with optional snacks in between. Trying local food is a great cultural experience.

How do I handle money?

Spain uses euros, so it’s good to know the exchange rate before you arrive. Bring some cash and use ATMs to withdraw larger amounts (100–200 €) to avoid frequent commission fees.

Getting around and is it safe?

Sevillians are very friendly and appreciate when students try to speak Spanish. Walking is the easiest way to get around, but there are also bike lanes, buses, a metro line, trams, and affordable taxis. Services like Uber and Cabify are useful at night. Seville is generally very safe, even after dark, though it’s wise to stay aware of your surroundings and keep an eye on your belongings to avoid pickpockets.

What should I pack?

Travel light: Spanish homes have limited space, and you’ll likely buy things while here. Bring cozy socks/slippers for winter, a warm coat if traveling, an umbrella, comfy waterproof shoes, a swimsuit for hot weather, one or two dressy items, light sweaters for spring/fall, and thick sweaters for winter. Avoid valuables and bulky toiletries, as everything can be purchased locally.
