Program Overview

Inspire the next generation in this volunteer project with Simoonga Thandizani Trust School. The school is a community-based institution that serves the educational needs of Simoonga Village, 17 kilometers away from Livingstone Town. The school welcomes visitors who want to experience the authentic and friendly village life, as well as contribute to the learning and development of the local children. Volunteers can teach various subjects such as Mathematics, English, Art, Science, Religious Education, Sports and more. The school also runs other projects that support the vulnerable members of the community, such as poultry farming, feeding schemes, and social welfare programs. Volunteers are expected to work from Monday to Friday (7 hrs. a day) and pay $10 per person per day to cover the operational costs of the school, which does not receive any external funding.

During the weekends, volunteers can enjoy the many attractions that Livingstone Town has to offer, such as visiting the majestic Victoria Falls, going on a game drive, and tracking the white rhinos on foot.

Please feel free to contact us for more information about this volunteer program. We hope to meet you soon.

I enjoyed the community-based school!

This school is very community oriented. It's funded by volunteer donations. If you have lots of money, this volunteer is a good choice because the school may ask for donations. Showers and toilets are located outside. It is a pity that there is no hot shower. However, the room are very nice. you have to make your breakfast and dinner as there are no restaurants around. There is a supermarket in town, but it takes about 30 minutes by car. You will enjoy playing with children who live nearby every day, so please visit this school!

Amazing place for a great experience!

I've stayed a week at the Simoonga Thandizani Trust School and had a very great time here! Edwin and his team are very warm, kind, wonderful people, who really want to help the children of the village! The atmosphere is very relaxed and warm. The children are also very wonderful, so I would really recommend this place!

Wonderful experience in Simoonga, Zambia!

We really loved our stay at Simoonga Thandizani Trust School! We stayed here for 1 week and didn't know what to expect, but when we arrived Edwin and his team where really kind and helpful with everything! It's a fantastic school where the children of Simoonga and smaller villages around Simoonga can come and get the education they need! I would really recommend to stay at this school and help the children here!

An incredible experience

I spent a month volunteering at the Simoonga Thandizani Trust School and it was a very nice experience. Edwin and all his team of teachers work very hard to give a very good education to the children and also an important social support. It is a very interesting project and I hope it can continue to grow and more children can study at the school. Edwin and his family have treated me very well and have always been attentive to make my volunteering a great experience.

Beautiful memories of our time here

We absolutely loved our experience at Simoonga Thandizani Trust School. Our whole family was invited to participate each day, sharing our knowledge with the children and interacting with them. We felt welcomed throughout our stay. What we truly loved was witnessing how much the teachers cared for the children and worked really hard on opening a window into the world for them by inviting all these volunteers to participate in their education. We are a worldschooling family so we value the importance of learning from the world. They are bringing the world to them, and I hope that will continue for many more years. This is a blog post we wrote about it once we left: https://www.the5worldexplorers.com/our-time-at-simoonga-thandizani-trust-school/ The songs they sang to us opened my heart, so I'm sharing them too

teaching and sharing is rewarding!!

My name is Silvia, I enjoyed my time at Simoonga so much and I really felt of help to the community beacuse anything was helpful to them: money, books, games, new ideas, teaching time, advices... a full on volunteering program! kids and professors are still in my heart, they also tought me a lot through their simplicity and their way of loving life and people. I recommend volunteering in Simoonga Trust School beacuse you can really feel the importance of being of help, anybody can do it just bringing them your knowledge, your smile, your motivation, and you will feel so rewarded afterwards!!
