Program Overview
SeoulQuest is a six-week academic residency in Seoul for high school students seeking a rigorous pre-college experience.
Korean Language: Students earn an official 6-credit transcript at Ewha University via an intensive 120-hour Korean course. This college-level curriculum condenses two years of high school study into six weeks, signaling university readiness to officers.
Korean History: Beyond the classroom, SeoulQuest follows a Chronological Curriculum that brings history to life in the order it unfolded. Students discuss Confucian politics in Joseon palaces, interview North Korean defectors at the DMZ, and reflect on the path to democracy in Gwangju. The journey culminates in the present day, celebrating the Korean Wave at vibrant K-pop concerts, a Han River cruise, and a film set tour.
Capstone Project: To distinguish their portfolio, students spend Fridays on an Individualized Capstone Project. These 1:1 or 2:1 mentored tracks range from PhD-led research to professional-grade pursuits in fashion, journalism, or architecture. The program culminates in a Graduation Showcase and a portfolio piece that can be easily added to future university applications.

Am I eligible for the SeoulQuest 2026 program?
To join our 2026 cohort, applicants must meet these criteria:
- Age/Grade: 14–18 years old; completed grades 9–12 (recent grads eligible).
- GPA: Minimum 3.5/4.0 (or equivalent).
- Skills: Conversational English proficiency and a commitment to Korean culture.
- Attributes: Intellectual/emotional resilience and good health for active participation.
- Logistics: Ability to secure a passport/visa and agree to all program terms.
I am Korean by heritage or citizenship. Am I welcome?
Yes! We take pride in welcoming overseas Koreans into our cohort; many students of Korean descent have found the program to be a transformative way to reconnect with their roots. For safety and to maintain the integrity of the peer community, all participants must live in our designated housing and are not permitted to stay overnight with relatives or friends during the program.
Is prior Korean language knowledge required?
No prior knowledge is necessary to join the 2026 cohort. However, we strongly recommend that students master Hangul (the Korean alphabet) before arrival to maximize their experience in Seoul.
I am not a U.S. citizen. Can I join the program?
Yes. SeoulQuest is a global program open to ambitious students from all nations, provided they meet our core eligibility and visa requirements.
When and how should I coordinate my airfare?
Participants should purchase tickets from a reputable source as soon as possible, as international airfare is not included in the program fees. To ensure a seamless start to the 2026 cohort, students must arrive at Incheon International Airport (ICN) on or before the official start date. We require a copy of your flight itinerary at least two weeks prior to the program's commencement.
