Semester at Sea is a global journey that brings students face-to-face with a diversity of our world's cultures and perspectives. Every spring and fall, Semester at Sea explores up to 11 developed and emerging countries and 15 cities on a 100-day voyage. Students represent nearly 25 different countries and 250 institutions, and with the faculty, staff, and crew become a supportive and collaborative family over the course of their journey. Since 1963, Semester at Sea has given its 63,000 alumni the advantage of a truly global, well-rounded perspective.

The Fall 2019 Voyage will last 106 days and visit 12 cities in 11 countries:

- Embark: Gdansk, Poland

- Kiel Canal Transit

- Lisbon, Portugal

- Cadiz, Spain

- Dubrovnik, Croatia

- Casablanca, Morocco

- Tema & Takoradi, Ghana

- Salvador, Brazil

- Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago

- Panama Canal Transit, Panama

- Guayaquil, Ecuador

- Puntarenas, Costa Rica

- Debark: San Diego, CA, United States

Program Highlights

Classroom learning aboard ship integrates with relevant field studies in port, immersing you in the world's most important issues such as sustainability, economic empowerment, globalization, religious pluralism, and national identity. Through in-country field programs and independent travel, students observe global issues first-hand while interacting with everyone from local citizens to world leaders. Shipboard courses and field labs give academic context to the journey and are led by faculty known for their global scholarship.
