Why choose Second Tree?

Second Tree is a non-governmental organization that began in early 2015 and is community-led, volunteer-run, and grassroots in its approach. The organization focuses on providing support, education, and learning opportunities to refugees across Northern Greece. The primary aim of Second Tree is to provide refugees and asylum seekers across Northern Greece with the necessary skills needed for life in Europe. The organization achieves this through educational activities that are focused on three key areas. These areas include language and cultural awareness, mental health and well-being, and practical skills training. The founders of Second Tree initially met at the Katsikas Refugee Camp, and they left their old lives behind to establish an organization that treats refugees like human beings first and foremost. Since its inception, Second Tree's team of volunteers has grown, and the organization has reached hundreds of refugees through its various programs. Second Tree works in two camps, where they reach around 2,500 people. Second Tree's approach consists of a community engagement model that treats refugees as individuals and focuses on high expectations, equal opportunities, and mutual trust. The organization aims to create a sense of community among refugees and promote an environment that fosters education, personal growth, and well-being. Overall, Second Tree is a remarkable NGO that is making a positive difference in the lives of refugees across Northern Greece.
