Dominican Republic Service and Adventure Programs
by: Rustic Pathways
This beachside program in the Dominican Republic is designed for students who want their summer to feel both meaningful and unforgettable. Over eight days, you’ll live and travel along the country’s stunning coasts and vibrant towns while working with local communities on health, wellness, and small-scale development projects. You won’t just volunteer, you’ll collaborate with families, kids, and community leaders, building real connections and learning what daily life is like far beyond the tourist beaches. Between service days, the island comes alive through snorkeling in warm Caribbean waters, relaxing on golden sand, and exploring the colorful streets of Santo Domingo, the oldest European city in the Americas. Every part of the experience is designed to balance impact and adventure, giving you space to grow, try new things, and feel proud of what you contributed. You’ll return home with new friends and a deeper understanding of the world.

July 14, 2024by: Maria Escarmis - SpainI am really liking this experience, I am learning a lot about the marine life. I also really like that we do this in group because I get to bond with different people from different places and countries.
Hi Maria! Thanks for sharing your experience! We're happy to hear you gained knowledge about marine life, and that you bonded with students from different backgrounds. Maybe in the future you can visit each other in your respective countries? We hope to see you next summer too!

It was cool I guess, there were goods and bads…
July 14, 2024by: Loulou Politi - United StatesI enjoyed my time in the DR, however, the people of rustic got on my nerves. There were only four students. One of the counselors was very controlling and rude. I wish phones were taken from us because they really distracted the group and caused a lot of laziness and frustration.
Hi Loulou! Thank you so much for this, and we're so sorry to hear that you did not have the absolute best experience with us! We take feedback on each step of the travel process seriously, and we'll be reviewing what you mentioned in detail. We're glad that despite all this you enjoyed your time in the DR!
Exciting and fun
