Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to know Spanish for this internship?
Whilst Spanish isn’t required for this internship, it is recommended. At least, if you don’t know the language, make an effort to learn a few phrases before arriving. Whilst it isn’t necessary for the program itself, it will help to build relationships with the communities you’ll be working with.
Can you offer any help learning Spanish?
Yes. Spanish classes for the duration of your stay are included in the pricing for your trip. However, it really will help your progression if you come to Ecuador with a solid foundation. So do start learning beforehand. For those interested, there’ll be Kichwa classes available during your internship too.
Will an engineering degree be required?
No. A degree isn’t required for this program but the ideal candidate will be studying engineering and have knowledge of WASH. Whilst you will be working towards the construction of a water filtration system, in this first year of the program, your work will be more to do with logistical planning for the project.
