Just another Day in Paradise..

To be honest, I cannot even put into words what those last 3 months meant to me. They definitively have been the most amazing months of my life and I would give a lot to be able to go back. The island, the people, the NGO, the wildlife.. if there is a paradise, it is on the Galapagos and I am incredibly grateful that I had the chance to be part of such a wonderful organisation and was able to support the conservation of this magical place.

Internship in the Galapagos

Doing an internship in the Galapagos meant that I could learn lots of new things whilst being in such an incredible location! Staying with a host family meant that I was immersed into the culture of the island and was able to practice my Spanish everyday.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Get answers to all the most common questions about Roots Interns.

Is Spanish required for this internship?

The organization’s local partners are Spanish-speaking, so in order to be considered they will need to see that you have minimal conversational Spanish-speaking skills to communicate with the school teachers and farm families. Facial expressions, gestures, and Google translate are helpful tools, but for deeper conversations a better understanding of the language is recommended.

Can the organization provide Spanish language classes?

Yes, they have partnered with an accredited pre-arrival online Spanish course if you would like to learn or enhance your Spanish language skills. Doing a Spanish language course during your internship might be complicated as you are busy with your internship and Wifi is sometimes limited.

Where will I stay during my internship?

You will be staying with a local homestay family that will provide you with your own bedroom and bathroom with a fan, hot water, dresser or closet, and potable water.
