Earth Expeditions in Borneo: Primate Conservation
Program Overview
Project Dragonfly, Miami University, lets students study the primate denizens in Borneo, including the orangutans. The Earth Expeditions and Global Field Program will have you developing new ways to get communities worldwide to engage in primate conservation. Participants can turn into something greater than themselves as they engage in the global learning community through a transformative Master's program.
Participants can join researchers from the Danau Girang Field Centre, the NGO Hutan, and local villagers from the Kinabatangan region, working on a model community-based endeavor to preserve Bornean pygmy elephants, orangutans, and other species. They also contribute to the efforts of local groups to develop new ways to encourage communities to save orangutans worldwide.
Before and following the field experience in Borneo, students will complete coursework via the Dragonfly Workshops Web-Based Learning Community as they apply these experiences to their home institutions.
