Online TEFL Certification for Teaching English in Egypt
by Premier TEFL

Program Overview
To teach English in Egypt as an employee, you need a work license from Egypt's Ministry of Labor, which the company hiring you applies for, and the Egyptian Consulate General in London says residence and work permits can only be obtained inside Egypt. Premier TEFL's online courses, starting with the 120 hour Accredited Online TEFL Course, train you for that classroom.
The ministry asks for at least three years of experience in the same field, certified and translated into Arabic, and caps foreign staff at 10% of an employer's workforce outside special cases. Teachers at schools supervised by the Ministry of Education also need the subject advisor's approval. When hiring from abroad, you enter only after security approval, and UK government advice notes that a work permit application needs HIV test results.
The 180 hour Government Regulated Level 5 TEFL Diploma, Ofqual reference 610/1572/6, is the best fit for Egypt, and the 120 hour course is the starting option.
Study self paced online with 24/7 access, tutor support, optional live Zoom classes, an instant digital certificate and lifetime job assistance. Enroll online and finish the course before you apply to schools in Egypt.

FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
Get answers to all the most common questions about Premier TEFL.
Do I need a work permit to teach English in Egypt as a foreigner?
Yes. Egypt's Ministry of Labor issues work licenses to foreigners on the application of the company that wants to employ them, whether it is recruiting you from abroad or you are already in Egypt. The Egyptian Consulate General in London states that work permits can only be obtained from the local authorities in Egypt, and that a residence permit can only be applied for and obtained inside Egypt, not from a consulate abroad.
What does the Ministry of Labor ask for to license a teacher in Egypt?
It asks for at least three years of experience in the same field, certified by your country's foreign ministry, authenticated by an Egyptian embassy or Egypt's Foreign Ministry and translated into Arabic. Your employer names two Egyptian assistants you will train, and foreign staff are capped at 10% of its workforce outside special cases. Teachers in schools supervised by the Ministry of Education also need the subject advisor's approval.
How does an employer in Egypt hire a foreign teacher from abroad?
The company applies to the Ministry of Labor with your name, nationality, job, passport number and birth date. The ministry contacts the Passports and Immigration Authority about an entry visa for work, and you enter Egypt only after security approval. Within 60 days of your arrival, the company presents your original passport. The license file then needs 6 photos and an HIV test certificate from a Ministry of Health lab or government hospital.
Can I complete my TEFL course online before I move to Egypt to teach?
Yes. Premier TEFL courses are studied online at your own pace, with 24/7 access, tutor support and optional live Zoom classes, so you can finish before you travel. That lets you work through the modules while you gather the documents Egypt's Ministry of Labor lists for a work license, such as certified proof of your experience translated into Arabic. You receive an instant digital certificate when you finish, plus lifetime job assistance.
Which Premier TEFL course is the best choice for teaching in Egypt?
The 180 hour Government Regulated Level 5 TEFL Diploma, Ofqual reference 610/1572/6, suits most people heading to Egypt. It is a recognized Level 5 qualification that employers can verify on the UK government register. The 120 hour Accredited Online TEFL Course is the starting option, and the 60 hour Level 5 English for Exams course adds a focused option if you plan to prepare students in Egypt for English language exams.
