Get TEFL Certified for Colombia: Accredited Level 5 Diploma
by Premier TEFL
Program Overview
Schools and language institutes in Colombia typically look for a bachelor's degree and a TEFL certificate of at least 120 hours. Premier TEFL's Government Regulated Level 5 TEFL Diploma runs to 180 hours, is regulated by Ofqual under reference 610/1572/6, and comfortably meets that standard.
What Colombia actually asks for
Most language institutes, bilingual schools and universities ask for a degree in any subject, fluent English and a recognized TEFL certificate. Hiring is employer led, so requirements vary between cities and schools. To work on a formal contract, foreign teachers need the Migrant visa in the Worker category, Visa M Trabajador, which Colombia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Cancillería) issues on the basis of a signed contract with a Colombian employer.
Which Premier TEFL course fits
The 180 Hour Level 5 TEFL Diploma is the right fit for Colombia. It clears the 120 hour benchmark most employers use, and because it is Ofqual regulated at Level 5 and awarded by Highfield Qualifications, it sits on the UK qualifications framework rather than being an in house certificate. For university or international school roles, the 300 Hour Level 5 Master TEFL Advanced Diploma, Ofqual reference 6101574X, is the stronger option.
What is included
Self paced online study with 24/7 access, tutor support, an instant digital certificate, optional live Zoom classes and lifetime job assistance for graduates. Most students finish in 2 to 6 weeks, so you can complete it before you fly to Bogotá or Medellín.
