Get TEFL Certified for Nepal: Accredited Level 5 Diploma
by Premier TEFL

Program Overview
To teach English in Nepal as a paid employee, you need a Working Visa, because Nepal's Department of Immigration states that only foreign nationals holding one are allowed to accept employment and work in Nepal. Premier TEFL's online Level 5 TEFL Diploma prepares you for that classroom.
The Department of Immigration's Non Tourist Visa section issues the Working Visa on recommendation from the relevant government line agency. The listed documents include that recommendation letter, a work permit from the Department of Labor, a work agreement from the Ministry of Home Affairs, your appointment or contract letter and the employer's tax clearance. While the paperwork is in progress, you may stay in Nepal on a Tourist Visa, and your category changes once the Working Visa is approved.
The 180 hour Government Regulated Level 5 TEFL Diploma, Ofqual reference 610/1572/6, is the best fit for Nepal, and the 120 hour Accredited Online TEFL Course is the starting option.
Study self paced online with 24/7 access, tutor support, optional live Zoom classes, an instant digital certificate and lifetime job assistance. Enroll online and finish the course before you apply to schools in Nepal.

FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
Get answers to all the most common questions about Premier TEFL.
Do I need a work visa to teach English in Nepal as a foreigner?
Yes, for paid teaching. Nepal's Department of Immigration states that only foreign nationals holding a Working Visa are allowed to accept employment and work in Nepal. Its Non Tourist Visa section issues it on recommendation from the relevant government line agency. Under Nepal's reciprocity arrangements, US citizens working in Nepal can receive a three year working visa, with their stay limited to the working period.
What documents does Nepal require for a Working Visa application?
The Department of Immigration lists a recommendation letter from the concerned government line agency, a work permit from the Department of Labor and a work agreement from the Ministry of Home Affairs. You also need your appointment or contract letter, a tax clearance from the hiring organization, copies of your passport and visa and the online application form. NGOs and INGOs also provide a Social Welfare Council agreement.
Can I stay in Nepal on a tourist visa while my work visa is processed?
Yes. The Department of Immigration states that foreign nationals undergoing paperwork for a Working Visa may stay in Nepal on a Tourist Visa, and the category changes once the Working Visa is approved. You can get a tourist visa on arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport or from a Nepali mission abroad. The UK government notes you can extend it online up to 150 days in one year, and overstaying is a serious crime.
Can teachers in academic roles in Nepal get a study visa instead?
In some cases. Nepal's Department of Immigration states that its study visa is also issued to teachers and professors involved in academic work, on recommendation from the concerned government agencies, for up to one year. The listed documents include a recommendation letter from the Ministry of Education, a recent bank statement and the online application form. Ask your employer which recommendation it can obtain for you.
Which Premier TEFL course is best for teaching English in Nepal?
The 180 hour Government Regulated Level 5 TEFL Diploma, Ofqual reference 610/1572/6, suits most people heading to Nepal. It is a recognized Level 5 qualification that employers can verify on the UK government register. The 120 hour Accredited Online TEFL Course is the starting option, and the 60 hour Level 5 Teaching Online One to One course adds a focused option if you also plan to teach students online.
