Accredited TEFL Certification for Teaching in Indonesia
by Premier TEFL

Program Overview
To teach English in Indonesia you need an employer in Indonesia to act as your guarantor. The Directorate General of Immigration issues the E23 Employment visa to people who work in an employment relationship with a guarantor in Indonesia. Premier TEFL's online courses prepare you for that classroom.
The Ministry of Manpower requires employers of foreign workers to hold a ratified RPTKA, their foreign worker plan, and expects foreign workers to have education suited to the role and competence or at least five years of relevant work experience. The E23 application asks for a passport valid for at least six months and proof of at least US$2,000 for living expenses. If you meet the conditions, you receive an electronic stay permit, the e-ITAS, on arrival.
The 180 hour Government Regulated Level 5 TEFL Diploma, Ofqual reference 610/1572/6, is the best fit for Indonesia, and the 120 hour Accredited Online TEFL Course is the starting option.
Study self paced online with 24/7 access, tutor support, optional live Zoom classes, an instant digital certificate and lifetime job assistance. Enroll online and finish the course before you apply to employers in Indonesia.

Frequently Asked Questions

What visa do I need to teach English in Indonesia as a foreigner?
You need the E23 Employment visa, which Indonesia's Directorate General of Immigration issues to people working in an employment relationship with a guarantor in Indonesia. The application asks for a passport valid for at least six months, proof of at least US$2,000 for living expenses, a recent color photo, a CV, a travel itinerary and a statement of commitments to fulfill within 90 days of arrival, such as a Ministry of Manpower Notification.
What does Indonesia's Ministry of Manpower ask of foreign workers?
Foreign workers must have education that matches the position, competence or at least five years of work experience suited to the role, and must transfer their expertise to an Indonesian companion worker. Under Ministerial Regulation 8 of 2021, employers must hold a ratified RPTKA, granted after a feasibility assessment. Its documents include your diploma, proof of competence or experience, your employment contract and passport.
How long can I stay in Indonesia on the E23 Employment visa?
The E23 offers a stay of up to 180 days, 1 year or 2 years, and each can be extended. If you meet the conditions, you receive an electronic limited stay permit, the e-ITAS, together with a permit to leave and reenter, on arrival, and a physical card is available at the immigration office. You must submit online proof that your visa commitments are fulfilled within 90 days of entry, or your residence permit may be revoked.
What happens if I overstay my visa or stay permit in Indonesia?
You pay a surcharge of one million rupiah per person for each day you overstay, according to Indonesia's Directorate General of Immigration. UK government travel advice adds that using the wrong type of visa, or staying after your visa expires, is taken very seriously and can lead to prosecution, detention and deportation at your own cost. Keep track of your stay permit dates and extend through the official immigration website.
Which Premier TEFL course is the best fit for teaching in Indonesia?
The 180 hour Government Regulated Level 5 TEFL Diploma, Ofqual reference 610/1572/6, suits most people heading to Indonesia. It is a recognized Level 5 qualification that employers can verify on the UK government register. The 120 hour Accredited Online TEFL Course is the starting option, and the 300 hour Level 5 Master TEFL Advanced Diploma, Ofqual reference 6101574X, is the step up for a stronger profile.
