How do I get to the volunteer location?

Book a flight to Arusha, Tanzania, via Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) or Arusha Kisongo Airport (ARK). Our staff will pick you up at the airport and bring you to the residence.

When does the Empowering Women & Girls program start?

The Empowering Women & Girls program starts every 1st and 15th of every month. We welcome participants throughout the year.

What can I bring to the program?

If you'd love to, you can bring funds to finance some of the women's and girls' projects or to fund the project you wish to teach them.

What activities can I do on weekends?

You can go on day trips to waterfalls, hot springs, and historical and cultural sites or on overnight safaris to wildlife parks and zoos.

This is an empowerment program based in Tanzania. In this program, volunteers with good hearts and an open mind are needed. Empowering Women and Girls is a program designed to strengthen groups who come from a truly heartbreaking background; from being shamed for being HIV positive to abandonment due to assault, and a level of poverty that will be hard for most people from the Western world to imagine. The goals are to help women become self-sufficient and to recruit and help more. Some of the volunteer opportunities are community work, counseling for HIV victims and home victims, palliative care, and youth programs such as healthcare training in schools and communities.
