FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Get answers to all the most common questions about MIEO Colombia.

Do I need to speak Spanish for the Communication role?

Advanced Spanish is ideal, but an intermediate level is enough for the Communication role. The other intern can help you with translating posts into Spanish.

Does MIEO provide accommodation?

MIEO doesn’t own any apartments, but we help you find somewhere to live through our partners.

What monthly budget should I plan for?

We recommend a budget of €700 to €1,200 a month to live comfortably in Medellín.

Is Medellín safe?

Its violent past still colours its reputation, but Medellín is known today for its energy and its social transformation, which earned it the title of most innovative city in the world in 2013, according to the Wall Street Journal. Follow good practice, use common sense, and you have nothing to worry about.

How many hours a week?

We adapt to each university’s requirements (usually 35 hours a week).
