Volunteer in Peru and work in and around the historic city of Cusco. Teach young people and improve their English skills, giving them far better career prospects when they leave school. For Peruvian children, the ability to speak English is essentially a ticket out of poverty. Volunteer work includes teaching English (grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, speaking, writing, listening, etc.) to primary, middle, and high school students 3-4 hours per day. Most placements are in local schools and some are in community centers, orphanages, and shelters for street children. At these projects, volunteers help teach regular English classes, tutor them, and help with their homework. This program is available all year round, with start dates every Monday. Teaching English in Cusco!
October 30, 2025by: Christina Balabin - AustraliaProgram: Teaching English—Volunteer in Peru!I spent a week teaching English in the middle of the Andes with Maximo Nivel. I taught at a small local school called Un Mundo Mejor in a small neighborhood on the outskirts of Cusco. It was such an amazing experience. Between the kids coming to class and the help from Maximo I always felt looked after and ready. 10/10

October 17, 2025by: Grace Bayer - United StatesProgram: Teaching English—Volunteer in Peru!I taught English in the outskirts of Cusco in a small rural community called Puerto Rico. I taught at a school Called Un Mundo Mejor. It was an amazing experience! I got to work with a small class of about 8 students and we learned a lot. Maximo Nivel was with me the entire journey and helped me with everything I needed. 5 Stars all around!
Thank you MN!
August 28, 2025by: Julianne Laroche - FranceProgram: Teaching English—Volunteer in Peru! These past 2 and a half months have been absolutely incredible! I'm deeply grateful to everyone who made this experience so magical. Everything about my placement was perfect! The guidance I received, Maximo's constant support in preparing or printing the lessons , and the wonderful local people I got to meet.

I love to travel and felt I needed a purpose, and volunteering in any capacity certainly fulfills that need.

I am always longing to live with a clear purpose, to make sure I am pursuing what I really want. So, I chose to go abroad to find myself. Before leaving, I was always not sure whether "I want to be a teacher" or "my mother wants me to be a teacher", whether "I want to live in New Zealand" or "my mother wants me to live in New Zealand". In my first year at uni, I have been getting to know that something you like might not be what you really like. Instead, you are just imagining "I like it. I like it." The only way to clarify my genuine enthusiasm and imaginary enthusiasm is to try to experience it by myself.

I'd previously volunteered in Cambodia teaching English, and I was keen to head somewhere else and help out. I had previously quit university and was tired of working two jobs...so I booked a ticket to South America.
