Rehabilitation Psychology Internship in Cape Town

Established in 1985, your host organization was the first of its kind in Cape Town to treat and rehabilitate substance users and those directly affected, bringing about transformation and recovery. Their services include training, treatment, families and drugs, and referral procedure. They have three offices in Cape Town and these have been pillars in the substance abuse sector, directly responding to the cries of people and the need for the establishment of a community-based treatment program. During the initial three weeks, the intern receives orientation and training in the center's work and model of addiction. And during the internship period, activities include: - Assessments - Individual counseling, weekly counseling sessions that focus on drugs, lifestyle, and emotional issues - Family counseling - Early interventions - Group therapy Supervision: Individual supervision - one hour per week with an experienced Clinical Psychologist or Senior Social Worker Group Supervision - 90 minutes per week, including discussion of cases, groups, and other clinical matters, and lectures or networking sessions with outside presenters
