Working with Children and Youth in Morocco

Volunteers work with Moroccan youth, teaching and assisting them to learn crucial life skills that are often taken for granted. For example, they may give basic language lessons, help with computer skills and mathematics, and organize education and recreational activities such as music, theater, arts and crafts, and outdoor games.

Volunteers supply critical support to teachers, who are often greatly under-resourced. The host school doesn't have enough staff, making extra pairs of hands and knowledge greatly appreciated. On the other hand, students benefit from the support and attention they receive from international participants.

Although some experience working with children is preferred, a responsible, enthusiastic, and compassionate attitude goes a long way. Working with children in Morocco can be challenging, but a basic understanding of French or Arabic will make this placement a rewarding experience for all involved.
