Women's Empowerment in Tanzania
Program Overview
The mission of this program is to support the women within the Arusha area who have suffered from abuse. The aim is to offer them a refuge to escape the violence, re-group, and plan for a better life. Founded to fight human trafficking and other injustices, the program has given many girls and young mothers a second chance in life and has helped hundreds of women and children. It offers a temporary residence for girls and young mothers and their babies. The program provides them with medical assistance, counseling, and advocacy. It runs educational initiatives in various subjects: mathematics, English, computer, health, and life skills. It also conducts one-year vocational training in cooking, tailoring, and entrepreneurship so they can start and run their own business after graduation. The program gives girls and women who didn’t finish their schooling a chance to finish their education. While the mothers attend school or vocational training, their children receive supervision in the daycare center or preschool, depending on their age. This program truly empowers women and girls who have suffered abuse and helps them achieve a brighter future.
