The experience was great! All of the people ans staff we met were amazing. Everyone was friendly and welcoming and the people there teaching us the course did an amazing job. I love the hands on experience along with the chance of seeing temples and other parts of Thailand.

Just like the title says above, my group and I loved being at ENP so much, we want to meet up in 5 years and volunteer again! This is a blessing of an experience as it really opens your eyes to veterinary medicine in a different culture. We all had our favorite elephants and platform dogs. I feel like I gained invaluable experience in both conservation efforts and vet med techniques. I have already recommended this program to people. It was so easy to let go and completely immerse myself in Thai culture. The bonds I formed with the program coordinators, veterinarians, and girls in my group definitely elevated the experience. Literally, if you are even thinking of going on this trip, DO IT!! My only complaint is that sometimes communication was lacking, however, I think they did a good job especially since we had to be flexible with new COVID restrictions and rules.

Once in a lifetime opportunity!

If you’re on the fence… do it! The entire trip was incredible. Even if you already work in a clinic there is still tons to be learned. The staff were some of the kindest and coolest people I’ve ever met. Highly recommend! If you choose to take it for credit, the essay is annoying but easy and you get lots of hints ahead of time about what will be on the exam. You will not have to think about a thing. The domestic travel was completely stress free. All transportation is arranged and timely, and you don’t have to think about food. At the restaurants, they have you pre order so the food is ready when you get there— more time for your trip! Plans may change unexpectedly due to rain etc., but after a few days you’ll get used to going with the flow and not needing to know every detail (if you usually like to know details). The food was fantastic and I highly recommend the Thai cooking class. It was really nice to actually get to spend time enjoying Thailand particularly with the elephants instead of rushing around on a touristy trip. The night markets are amazing. The elephant nature park has over 2000 cats, 600 dogs, and over 100 elephants right now. Covid led to lots of relinquished animals but the elephant nature park also is maintained by income from visitors. I was happy to learn that a lot of my tuition was given to them and that some went toward keeping Loop abroad’s clinic running. Everyone’s surgery experience is a little different, but yes you may actually be the one to neuter a cat. Do it! Do it! Do it!
