Our College Veterinary Service program is open to all applicants ages 18-23. If you are planning to go to vet school, this is the program for you! In this two-week program, you’ll work and learn alongside veterinarians at an elephant sanctuary and a dog rescue center. Live among the elephants and care directly for them, provide check-ups and procedures to dogs in need, and experience magnificent Thailand first-hand. You will spend a week in a dog clinic and learn clinical skills, including blood draws, suturing, skin scrapes, and assisting in spay and neuter surgeries. You will learn how to assess the dogs' health and conduct exams, as well as get hands-on practice providing medical care. The other week is spent at the Elephant Nature Park, providing hands-on care, love, and support for the elephants who live there. Evenings and weekends are filled with fun activities such as zip-lining and exploring street markets.

I had an amazing experience!
October 24, 2022by: Lily Robinson - United StatesI loved every moment of my trip to Thailand with LOOP Abroad. The days were packed with fun activities so there was never a dull moment, and we made the best of our short two weeks there. I learned a great deal about the beautiful giants we share our home with, as well as some very interesting information about small animal medicine. I loved the involvement we had in surgeries, such as being able to clamp tissue or tie knots. My favorite experience I had was preforming wound care on the elephants who had stepped on landmines, as well as giving an intramuscular injection to an elephant! The trip was not all work, either; we had the opportunity to explore the night markets and Sunday markets in Chiang Mai, eat authentic Thai food, and try many fruits we cannot find easily in the states! This experience is one I would recommend to any person wanting to go to veterinary school one day, and even those just interested in conservation. I would redo this experience in a heartbeat.

The best summer of my life!
October 19, 2022by: Jaya Gottlieb - United StatesI was really nervous to travel abroad, but Loop made the whole process so easy and manageable! They were in contact with me months before I even left for the trip and as a program alumni they still provide resources to help me out. All of the staff are super helpful, knowledgeable, caring, fun, and professional. I had one of a kind animal encounters and felt immersed in the Thai culture. Would absolutely recommend any Loop Abroad program to vet students looking to travel and expand their skills/knowledge!
Unforgettable experience
October 18, 2022by: Naia Brandt - United StatesI am so incredibly grateful and happy I got to study abroad through this program. I learned so much and got some really amazing hands on experience. I also learned a ton about the culture and loved the staff running the program. The food was so delicious and the entire trip really did mark a hugely impactful event in my life. I know that I will always be appreciative for the opportunities and experiences I got and the incredible people I got to meet.

Best two weeks
October 18, 2022by: Madison Stahle - United StatesI participated in the College Veterinary Service in Thailand with Loop Abroad. Attending this program was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I spent the first week on the Elephant Nature Park. This was truly a once in a life time experience. I was able to assist in everyday chores caring for the elephant, work with elephant veterinarians on the park, as well and volunteer in park cleaning and feeding. The park was beautiful and the living situation at the Elephant Nature Park was fantastic. I was extremely nervous to attend this trip, as I had never been outside of the United States and I felt safe and welcomed the entirety of my trip. The second week of my trip was spent in downtown Chiang Mai, learning in a spay/neuter clinic. This was an excellent experience, as it allowed me to become familiar with veterinary surgical techniques before attending veterinary school and working in a practice in the US. Our time in the city was relaxing and gave us an opportunity to experience Thai culture. Our evenings were spent exploring the city markets, temples, and trying new foods. The Loop Abroad team members were caring and made sure that all of those attending were comfortable and safe. In addition Loop Abroad made sure that while we were in Thailand learning about veterinary medicine, we were also able to make memories that will last a lifetime such as zip lining through the rain forest. I look back on this opportunity with the most fond memories and would recommend this experience to anyone who may be considering it.

Most impactful trip
October 17, 2022by: Maria Plasse - United StatesThis will always be one of my favorite trips. I have been dying to go back ever since. The people of Thailand were so nice and welcoming. The teaching program was in depth and hands on. The only part of the program is change was the amount of time we are sitting learning straight. 8 hours in one classroom with a lunch break can be a lot. It’s also a beginners guide, so if you have been in the field it’s all information you already know. But I’d do it all over again. And you get to neuter a cat! This trip was extremely worth it and looks great on a resume

This is a once in a life time experience worth investing in!
September 05, 2022by: Taylor Gates - United StatesI have passed up so many different study abroad programs throughout college. I am someone who did not believe I could afford a trip like this. However, they have so many options to help you. Even if the finance side takes more time this trip is entirely worth the effort! The elephant nature park is unreal! It is by far the most magical place an animal lover can experience. Any time you sit anywhere there is always a four-legged companion at your side. I have never seen such happy animals, they are all in a constant state of play. Seeing elephants being elephants never gets old. They are spectacular animals with so much personality! Getting the opportunity to observe them in a setting where they can be themselves and be loved is indescribably beautiful. The dog rescue clinic gave me so much confidence in my small animal clinic skills. They give you a non-judgemental space to practice vet skills and ask questions that can be very difficult to find in a hospital setting at home. The city days pass by so fast because you get to do so much every day! The loop abroad team is there for you anytime. This team puts in so much effort and it shows - the program is really one of a kind! The guides and course instructors are some of the most compassionate people I have ever met. Most people you come across at the elephant nature park and dog rescue clinic are so courageous, wholesome, and humble. The people I got to work with changed my life for the better because they genuinely value each of their students as an individual.
Once in a lifetime opportunity!
September 03, 2022by: Marisa Carelli - United StatesIf you’re on the fence… do it! The entire trip was incredible. Even if you already work in a clinic there is still tons to be learned. The staff were some of the kindest and coolest people I’ve ever met. Highly recommend! If you choose to take it for credit, the essay is annoying but easy and you get lots of hints ahead of time about what will be on the exam. You will not have to think about a thing. The domestic travel was completely stress free. All transportation is arranged and timely, and you don’t have to think about food. At the restaurants, they have you pre order so the food is ready when you get there— more time for your trip! Plans may change unexpectedly due to rain etc., but after a few days you’ll get used to going with the flow and not needing to know every detail (if you usually like to know details). The food was fantastic and I highly recommend the Thai cooking class. It was really nice to actually get to spend time enjoying Thailand particularly with the elephants instead of rushing around on a touristy trip. The night markets are amazing. The elephant nature park has over 2000 cats, 600 dogs, and over 100 elephants right now. Covid led to lots of relinquished animals but the elephant nature park also is maintained by income from visitors. I was happy to learn that a lot of my tuition was given to them and that some went toward keeping Loop abroad’s clinic running. Everyone’s surgery experience is a little different, but yes you may actually be the one to neuter a cat. Do it! Do it! Do it!

Educational and fun
September 03, 2022by: Jenna W - United StatesI learned so much on this trip both about elephant and companion animals! I also learned more about Thai culture which was very interesting. Learning about small animal practice in a memorable made the information also easier to remember
It was amazing!! I didn't want to leave! Once in a life time experience
August 25, 2022by: Melanie Winstead - UruguayThe experience was great! All of the people ans staff we met were amazing. Everyone was friendly and welcoming and the people there teaching us the course did an amazing job. I love the hands on experience along with the chance of seeing temples and other parts of Thailand.

We're already planning on a reunion
September 29, 2021by: Olivia - United StatesJust like the title says above, my group and I loved being at ENP so much, we want to meet up in 5 years and volunteer again! This is a blessing of an experience as it really opens your eyes to veterinary medicine in a different culture. We all had our favorite elephants and platform dogs. I feel like I gained invaluable experience in both conservation efforts and vet med techniques. I have already recommended this program to people. It was so easy to let go and completely immerse myself in Thai culture. The bonds I formed with the program coordinators, veterinarians, and girls in my group definitely elevated the experience. Literally, if you are even thinking of going on this trip, DO IT!! My only complaint is that sometimes communication was lacking, however, I think they did a good job especially since we had to be flexible with new COVID restrictions and rules.
I want to do it all over again!
December 30, 2019by: Madison Gerszewski - United StatesI was so nervous as this was my first trip out of the country, especially since I did not know anyone on this trip. I ended up making a group of friends from all over the nation that I can rely on to help make me and each other successful with getting into vet school. I learned so much and was able to get a great amount of hands on work with many difference animals. Every task and opportunity we had reached my expectations beyond past anything I was hoping for. The Vet led my trip was very open and honest to all of our questions and concerns about our future to help guide us.
The best educational and thrilling experience of my life!
December 12, 2019by: Sky Le - United StatesI went on the two week College Veterinary Service Program in Thailand with Loop Abroad. During my time in this program, I spent one week at the Dog Rescue Clinic and one week at the Elephant Nature Park (ENP). At the Dog Rescue Clinic, I learned a significant amount of information varying from basic veterinary methods (such as proper restraining and surgical sterilization procedures), to techniques in diagnosing animal diseases. Some of the things I took part of during the lab portion of this first week were heart dissections, blood draws, IV and Sub-Q injections, and assistance in cat and dog spay and neuter surgeries. Applying the needle for Sub-Q injections at a slight angle then drawing the needle back to check if there is negative pressure, which tells you that the needle is in the right spot, is one of the few things I was able to learn and practice! At Elephant Nature Park, I was introduced to information on elephant body systems, elephant behavior, and animal ethics. Now I know elephants use their ears to cool down their large bodies by allowing blood to flow to their ears (via their many veins) then flapping their ears to cool down their blood and cycling the now cooler blood back into their bodies. Lek Chailert, activist and founder of ENP, also visited to teach us about the misconceptions with eco-tourism attractions and that wildlife may not be treated ethically in these tourist traps. And of course, we got to feed the many elephants here! I also got to participate in many activities such as zip-lining, temple visits, night markets, swimming, and so much more! Not only were these activities beautiful and amazing, but the food during this program was also exceptional. This program was a worthwhile experience since it was both insanely fun and educational, and being a part of it also results in 80 service hours!
Loop Abroad
December 02, 2019by: Hannah Karl - United StatesThis trip completely changed my life! I met so many amazing people while learning about animal medicine. I loved learning about Thai culture. It was an unforgettable experience. I still talk to my group!
Changed my perspective completely
December 01, 2019by: Skylar Saik - United StatesMy trip to Thailand surpassed my expectations completely. The safety and good organization that Loop abroad provided and the extremely attentive staff and veterinarians on the trip made me feel comfortable to explore and engage in the culture because I was with people I could trust. I found it valuable that loop abroad employs local Thai people to run the program, because I heard personal stories and gained the most insight on the lifestyle of Thai people through our guides. I find myself applying what I learned at the Elephant Nature park and in the clinic to my current animal science classes. I feel more confident in my decision to work towards vet school because of how much I enjoyed this experience.
An experience not soon forgotten
November 29, 2019by: Carly Vix - United StatesLoop Abroad is a program I will highly recommend to others for as long as I can. The program itself completely changed the course of not only my education but my life as well. I cannot tell you enough good things about how well organized this program was. The amount of effort placed into making this experience enjoyable was certainly noticeable. I learned more than I could have imagined in my short time with the program. They even went as far as planning an entire night to celebrate the US day of independence as we were missing the celebration back home. We roasted hot dogs and s’mores over a campfire as well as lit sparklers. It was a magical evening that I loved. I will definitely be going on another Loop Abroad trip and I hope others will consider it as well!!

The most amazing experience
November 28, 2019by: Rayanna Hack - United StatesI had an amazing experience in Thailand with loop abroad. I made connections with a veterinarian and other students at my school that I never could have made without this trip. I learned a lot and had so much fun! The only thing I would have wished to change was more food options for lunch. But it was a great time!

Great pre-veterinary experiences in Thailand!
November 28, 2019by: Grace Boothby - United StatesThis trip was amazing. I had heard some reviews about Loop Abroad from others in my college, but words really cannot do it justice. The trip was very well organized and I liked that pretty much everything we did was already paid for (meals, ziplining, etc). The veterinary experiences I gained at Elephant Nature Park were once in a lifetime. We got to work directly with the elephants, along with many other wild animals like birds, monkeys, and rabbits. Elephant Nature Park is one of the best places on earth for an animal lover as there are elephants, dogs, cats, and water buffalo all living together in harmony. The other week of the trip was very helpful as well. We learned things like physical exams and catheter placement. We also got to help with spay and neuter surgeries. These experiences were also important because I know that I will be using the knowledge I gained for the rest of my life as I work as a veterinarian. Overall, this experience is not only amazing on its own, but it also makes for a good experience to put on a vet school application!
Amazing!
November 28, 2019by: Kaitlyn Cole - United StatesI can’t say anything else other than that this trip was absolutely amazing. Not only did we have so many opportunities to learn and practice veterinary medicine but the program also planned cultural immersion activities. They really made us feel like we experienced what northern Thailand had to offer.
Experience of a life time
November 28, 2019by: Ashley Kubik - United StatesThis was my first time ever traveling before Thailand I never took a flight or a bus other then school bus. I was very sheltered but this trip opened me up. I learned a new culture and fell in love with it. I hope to one day travel back to Thailand. This program showed me my love for animals and my love for traveling.
The highlight of my college career!
November 28, 2019by: Denise Lam - United StatesThis was the greatest experience of my life. I learned so much about Veterinary medicine and made great friends on this trip. There were also so many activities and so much culture to learn by exploring the temples by day and the night markets by night. This program was organized and they took health and safety very seriously. Overall, this is a once in a life time experience that I will cherish forever.
Most unreal experience ever
November 28, 2019by: Jessica Bloodgood - United StatesTraveling abroad with Loop Abroad was incredible. Not once did I feel unsafe or nervous. The staff wanted to connect with each of the students, joking around, providing information easily, and really caring for build a strong relationships with each student. The days dedicated to learning veterinary medicine felt as if I was taking my first steps towards pursuing vet school. Working hands on in a respectable manner with shelter animals and sanctuary elephants. From the experiences at the elephant sanctuary to traveling around Chiang Mai, my understanding of Thailand culture and population grew immensely. We went to several temples, attended a meditation session with a monk, and walked around the very popular Sunday market. I loved my time in Thailand and am planning on applying as the U.S. veterinary once I graduate Vet school because I believe this program shapes each and every student.

If you're on the fence, do it!
November 27, 2019by: Rebecca Culbertson - United StatesI can genuinely say this trip was a life-changing experience. The Loop Abroad staff and curriculum did an amazing job at making sure we were learning tons while still immersing us in Thai culture, making sure we were knowledgeable travelers. Having the opportunity to work so closely with elephants and assist in small animal surgeries is something I never would be able to do in America at my age, but Loop Abroad made it possible for me to do so. I learned so much and made life-long friends from all over!
Best trip ever!!
August 31, 2019by: Naiel Aslam - United StatesI may have been a bit nervous before the trip, but that immediately stopped once the trip got going. The experience we shared was so special and unlike any other. Thailand was such a beautiful country that I cannot wait to come back to. Everyone involved with Loop was spectacular and made the trip so much better. The bond our group formed was so supportive and loving. We all become very close and still remain in contact. Every part of the trip was wonderful and my only complaint was that I didn’t want it to end. The food was all delicious and we were able to see so much of the wonderful cities. It was so nice to get a sense of the beautiful culture. Loop created such an immersive experience that was far from any superficial tourist trip. If you want a real adventure that will be educational and enrich your soul, go on this trip.

An experience to remember
August 30, 2019by: Madison G - United StatesThis program is the program for you if you want to immerse yourself in a new culture while learning many new veterinary skills. There are opportunities to become close with both the students in the group as well as the veterinarians present. While on this trip, I learned many life-long lessons and built life-long friendships and relationships while also building up my network. If you want to build up your resume while having fun and pursuing your passion/love for animals, then this is a once in a life time opportunity that I would highly recommend. Going abroad can sometimes seem overwhelming and daunting, but the staff are all very welcoming, willing to help whenever it is needed, and do their absolute best to make everything comfortable and running smoothly. I wouldn't change anything about this trip, and thoroughly enjoyed every second of my time in Thailand with Loop Abroad.
Incredible experience
August 29, 2019by: Annabelle Lehman - United StatesThe most important part of traveling is safety, and with Loop Abroad I always felt safe and secure. This feeling allowed for my time in Thailand to be focused on learning from the amazing veterinarians and take in the culture. I feel like I had the best experience possible with zero regrets and zero worries. The week spent at Dog Rescue Clinic is focused on canine and feline health. Loop Abroad staff makes sure that you learn everything you need for your activities beforehand in case there are less experienced people in the group. As the least experienced in my group I can say that I was always included, encouraged, and learned a ton. After your time at the clinic, you get to visit multiple temples, markets and explore the city. This week is busier than the week at ENP and seems like it passes faster. The week at Elephant Nature Park is more relaxed with your time more focused on volunteering and observing the elephants but does not lack hands-on experience. You have more free time between activities which allows you to take in the beautiful scenery of the mountains and animals surrounding you. Feeding the elephants has to be the best part because you get to admire them up close. And a huge plus is that all meals at ENP are delicious and vegan! Overall this was an incredible experience, in an amazing country, with my time spent around the friendliest people and animals.

Once in a lifetime opportunity
August 28, 2019by: Shaye Roake - United StatesI'm so glad I did this once in a lifetime opportunity. The first week was at elephant nature park, which was an unforgettable experience. We not only worked with the elephants but the rescue dogs and cats as well. The food was made on site everyday. The employees at the park and loop abroad were very helpful and kind. I felt very safe in the hostel and in the park with the animals. The second week we were in the city of Chang Mai to work at a local dog clinic. The vets were very informative and friendly. The loop abroad staff made me feel safe while in the city at the temples or Night Bazaar. The food was great all the time and the accommodations were amazing. Can't say enough good things about this trip.
Great opportunity
August 28, 2019by: Cindy Gonzalez - United StatesThough I feel like the doctors could've taught more and had been more talkative with their students; traveling to Thailand is an unforgettable experience. I'm sure this will look amazing in vet school applications.
Wish it never had to end!
August 28, 2019by: Willow Leitner - United StatesThis program was one of the best experiences of my life! I was nervous about doing this program when I first signed up because I had never traveled outside of the U.S. before. Loop Abroad made sure that I felt safe, comfortable, happy, and still independent on this trip. I went with a great group of girls that I did not know previously, and we all became very good friends by the end of the trip. The program provided a ton of hands-on experience at the vet clinic and the elephant nature park. We got to help out with actual spay and neuter surgeries and also to do a diet study on an elephant for a whole day. There was more hands-on experience than I had even imagined. Further, the vet that went with my group was very helpful when it came to discussing the veterinary career. I was uncertain about whether or not I wanted to go to vet school and my vet helped me decide what was the best route for me. Further, we also got to try many wonderful dishes of Thailand and to explore all the beautiful temples that it has to offer. We even got to go zip-lining through the rain forest which was exhilarating. I wish I could do this experience all over again and I was heartbroken when it had to finally come to an end. It was worth every penny and it is an experience I would suggest to anyone who is interested in animals and travel.
One of the best experiences of my life!
August 28, 2019by: Sarah Henderson - United StatesThe trip was amazing. I learned so much that I would not have been able to here in the states, and I feel a lot more secure and confident in my own veterinary skills as I begin college. The program was able to educate me more intensely on my own clinical skills with animals and it was truly amazing. Also, we got to see many parts of Thai culture, food, and destinations and it was truly a journey of a lifetime. Thailand was amazing and the program was very good at letting us learn a lot but also enjoy where we were and show us the fascinating Thai culture and food. I loved seeing all new aspects of life in Thailand and I can’t wait to go back!
A wonderful experience!
August 28, 2019by: Maria Berry - United StatesAlbeit my first time studying abroad (or leaving the continent in general), this trip was an amazing experience. The Loop Abroad staff was very professional, kind, and helpful- they answered every question we had, and did well to keep us informed about the goings-on of the trip. This study abroad program gives you more hands-on veterinary experience than most (if not all) other pre-vet focused study abroad programs. In the span of two weeks, we learned how to place catheters, perform a physical exam, help an anaesthesia team on a spay/neuter surgery, perform said spay/neuter surgery, care for wounded elephants, study an elephant's daily diet and waste, and more! We were also given a lot of time to learn about the beautiful Thai culture in night markets, temples, local schools, meditation sessions (with a monk!), cooking classes, and local ceremonies. Overall, I absolutely loved these two weeks- I believe they've made me memories I will never forget. I hope to be back in the future!

Thailand College program
August 28, 2019by: Paola López Méndez - United StatesThis program was an amazing experience! Working with elephants was such an experience and it was an honor to learn about them! We got the opportunity to clean their wounds and give them food! At the dog clinic we learned different techniques that i know is gonna help us in the future! Everyone there were amazing and made sure we were having the time of our lives! I am forever grateful and i am so doing this again!
Once in a lifetime experience!
August 28, 2019by: Joellica McKean - United StatesThis trip to Thailand, getting to work with the elephants (petting & feeding them!), and learning so much I didn't know about Thai people and their culture was simply just an awesome experience. We had the chance to do things we may not get to do until our last years of vet school, and we got to experience so many fun things and nice people all because of Loop Abroad! I am so thankful for everything that every one of the staff and faculty did for us.

I can’t wait to go back!
August 28, 2019by: Haylie Sainz - United StatesWhat a trip! This was my first time traveling abroad and I was very nervous since I didn’t know anyone. My nerves were instantly settled once I met the Loop Abroad staff in Thailand. They are not only helpful and very approachable, but they are eager to teach you about their country. One thing I loved was connecting with fellow students, which helped me not get homesick. Our first week at Elephant Nature Park was so eye-opening. It’s beautiful and we got to feed and work with elephants, all while learning about their behavior. ENP and Loop Abroad teach you about how abused these animals can be in things like trekking, logging, and street begging. I would love to go back and take more friends because this experience was too amazing not to share. Our second week we spent at the Dog Rescue Clinic in Chiang Mai. We got to watch/assist in spay/neuter surgeries. I was surprised at how nice the clinic was. This week we learned a lot about Buddhism and the history of the city. I appreciated the program including cultural activities. I highly recommend this program. I learned so much, had an amazing time, and received upper division credit. Now I want to go back to explore more of Thailand and taste more of the delicious food!
Best two weeks!
August 27, 2019by: Ashlyn Schiers - United StatesThis program was such an amazing experience and it taught me so much! I was pushed out of my comfort zone and able to learn from that. I was scared to sign up for the trip because I didn’t know anyone but the staff and the other members of my group made it so easy to settle in and adjust to being that far away from home. Of the two weeks I thought the elephant week was the most unique experience I have ever had. We followed a vet around and got to see some of the most interesting techniques to treat these elephants as well as got to see how smart these creatures are. The week in Chang Mai was also amazing and was awesome for hands on experience.
Sad it had to end!
August 27, 2019by: Cheyenne Green - United StatesTwo of the best weeks of my life thanks to Loop Abroad. I didn't know much about the program before going on the trip and was skeptical traveling half way across the world with complete strangers, but I AM SO HAPPY I DID. I learned so many dog/cat practical clinical skills and medical care for Elephants. I also gained lifelong best friends (even though we are states away from each other) and got to come home with more memories that will last a lifetime. For any pre-veterinary college student, there is not a better program to travel with than Loop Abroad and get amazing memories, valuable experiences, and so much more than you could ever imagine!
Best two weeks
August 27, 2019by: Sarah Eschmeyer - United StatesThis was such an amazing trip. Staff was amazing and very knowledgeable. My group had such a great vet to help us and answer all of our crazy questions. When I got home and looked at pictures, I thought to myself that it looked like I was photoshopped in because I was so close to these amazing creatures. I already plan on coming back.

Enjoyed every minute
August 27, 2019by: Haley Watters - American SamoaI loved going on the trip with people from my university as well as people from different states since the trip ended with friendships I could carry on after the trip. The staff and every one involved were incredible, I formed friendships with many of the staff members and felt they were the perfect fit for the trip. I only wish there were more scholarships available to help with the costs, but appreciate the fundraising tips. The process of signing up for credit was somewhat confusing, but that was mostly the fault of my university. The food, activities, people were all amazing and every part of this trip shaped my life and changed my perspective on a lot of things. I learned so much about conservation, veterinary medicine, and it was taught it an exciting and engaging way.
Unforgettable experience
August 27, 2019by: Kattie Beaton - United StatesI absolutely loved this program! I made so many new friends and was able to be surround by people that shared the same interests as I did. This experience was like no other and I would recommend this program to anyone looking to change their life.
Absolutely amazing
August 27, 2019by: Lillian Boles - CanadaIf you are interested in traveling and/or animals GO ON THIS TRIP. 100% would recommend. It is expensive but it is well worth it. The amount of education you learn is phenomenal. All the staff are so helpful and genuinely kind. I am definitely going to be going on more trips with Loop Abroad.

Best. Experience. Ever.
August 27, 2019by: Taylor Hall - United StatesLoop Abroad offers an amazing opportunity to get hands-on experience with more than just cats and dogs. They give you the chance to get up close and personal with some amazing elephants and their support staff is amazing! There wasn’t a single moment that I felt unsafe and I am so thankful to have been given the opportunity that I did to go on tho trip. The housing was better than what I expected and the facilities were amazing! The Elephant Nature Park will always have a special place in my heart because of all the amazing work they do there. Everyone I met in Thailand, whether they worked for Loop Abroad or not, was so kind and our leaders were always really encouraging! It was a once in a lifetime experience that I will cherish forever!
The best 2 weeks of my year
August 01, 2018by: Emma Gravelle - CanadaThe College Veterinary service in Thailand was an amazing experience and was the best 2 weeks of my year and probably my life! There is so much hands on learning and experiences that can be had in this program, some things that I would have not been able to do in a clinic back home. The Loop staff and vets are very nice and always looking forward to helping us with answering any inquiry. Each day spent in Thailand is full of learning, activities and bonding with your group members. I could not reccomend this program enough, it has opened my eyes even more and has helped me become a more informed person.
Passion set on fire
July 30, 2018by: Samantha Tamburrano-Hernandez - United StatesLoop Abroad is the type of program everyone dreams about. It has education, adventure but most importantly it has possibilities. 2016 will forever be my favorite summer because that was the summer I got to he apart of the College Veterinary Program. Working with animals both domestic and exotic, learning about Thai culture, making new friends, building your passion for your future career. Loop Abroad and was everything and more.
Amazing veterinary experience!
July 30, 2018by: Amanda Deane - United StatesI went on the college pre-veterinary trip to Thailand and it was amazing! We got to explore the culture by learning to meditate, playing with children at a nearby school, and visiting the temples and street markets. We also got to try so much food and cool fruit! As for the educational aspect, it exceeded my expectations. I learned how to give physical exams, place catheters, blood draw, monitor in surgery, and how to assist in surgery all in the first week. The second week, I learned a lot about elephant nutrition and about the difficulties that these creatures go through for tourism. I loved being able to help the veterinarian clean out their wounds. Overall the experience was unforgettable. I was worried originally about safety but honestly the leaders made sure we were well taken care of and I never felt unsafe. I now am going to veterinary school in the fall and this trio definitely provided me with some unique experiences that I talked about in my interviews!
Great program!
July 30, 2018by: Allison Owens - United StatesThailand was my first experience with loop and my first study abroad type of trip. It’s a whole different experience traveling to volunteer versus for vacation and it was life changing. I learned so much working with the elephants and beside their vets there! Absolutely invaluable experience.
Life changing experience!
July 30, 2018by: Sierra Johnson - United StatesThis trip exceeded any of my expectations. I learned more, and I lived more than I could’ve imagined. Getting to have a vet work with our group both weeks and teach us all about small animal medicine was incredible, and getting to learn about elephant medicine at the elephant nature park was an experience hardly anybody ever gets. We got to actually immerse ourselves in the culture and explore chaing mai, and at the elephant nature park we got to learn about traditional dances and community. Every student needs an experience like this, and loop gives so many opportunities to get that experience!
Incredible experience!
July 30, 2018by: Chloe Calhoun - United StatesIf you are interested in veterinary medicine, I highly recommend this trip. We got to learn so much, and had so much hands on experience that is just harder to find at home. I got to assist in surgeries, insert a catheter, draw blood, and many other things! Loop Abroad really cares about their students, and wants them to learn a lot whole also having a great experience. The elephants are amazing. It’s incredible to be up close, and to see how different each one’s personality is. We also got to experience Thai culture, food, temples, and go zip lining in the jungle! Amazing. If you’re on the fence about going, just do it! You won’t regret it.
Amazing study abroad experience!
July 30, 2018by: Maddie Barrett - United StatesEarlier this summer, I traveled with Loop Abroad on the College Veterinary Service to Thailand, and it was truly a fantastic experience! The guides are extremely knowledgeable, so I learned so much about Thai customs and culture. They were also really helpful and fun to be around. Both the American vet that traveled with my group and the Thai vet staff were very eager to really take the time to teach us, and as a result I gained so many relevant skills in both the small animal and large animal departments. The housing in Chiang Mai was exceptional, and the housing at Elephant Nature Park really gave the feeling of living in Thailand, although it took some getting used to. The small animal clinic and Animal Rescue Kingdom were great environments for learning or refining practical skills like administering vaccines, monitoring anesthesia, giving a physical exam, looking at tissue samples, and so much more! Elephant Nature Park was breathtaking, and the staff really educated us on the importance of conservation and ethical treatment of animals. My experiences with the elephants there were once-in-a-lifetime and I will remember this trip forever as one of the best decisions I have ever made. After coming home from Thailand, I am now extremely confident that becoming a veterinarian is the right career path for me. Overall this study abroad was an amazing, life changing experience that I would recommend to anyone even relatively interested in veterinary medicine!!
Unforgettable experience
January 21, 2018by: Kristen - United StatesI chose to go through Loop Abroad on this Veterinary Service trip because at the time I was considering going to vet school. The trip let me dive right in to what that entails, pushing me way out of my comfort zone and into the reality of what I was considering. I am beyond thankful for the connections I made with other students and the veterinarians we learned from, the activities that were planned for us, and the safe environment Loop Abroad provided. Ultimately, the trip helped me realize vet school wasn’t for me, but I will never forget the experiences I had while I was in Thailand!! Highly recommend
Worth it
January 21, 2018by: Stephanie Rubino - United StatesI traveled with Loop Abroad to Thailand two summers in a row and gained more experience and exposure in those two weeks than I had doing any internship or class previously. I had never traveled that far by myself before and did't know what to expect. The Loop Abroad staff was so well prepared and professional and put my nerves right at ease. I did not know any students prior to going on the trip but made lifelong friendships with people I still talk to to this day. Every bit of money you spend and every bit of discomfort and unfamiliarity you experience is worth it because you will never get another experience like the one they provide you.
Loop abroad
January 21, 2018by: Vanessa - United StatesI had the great opportunity to travel through loop abroad and had an amazing experience. I was able to learn new skills from the classes I took, I was able to have one on one conversation with the veterinarians who were in charge of all the different classes we took and I was able to utilize those skills on real paitients. The staff was super friendly and helpful and if we needed anything at all they would do their best to help us get it. The cultural aspect of this trip was also really great. Our tour guides were very informative and very upbeat, passionate and excited about everything they were explaining to us about the culture, religion and lifestyle in Thailand. Over all I enjoyed my time with loop aborad studying and learning about another part of the world.
Seriously a life-changing experience
January 20, 2018by: Steph Marvel - United StatesI know it sounds cliche but i really can't think of another way to describe this trip. I knew I had been interested in working with wildlife in some capacity and was considering going to veterinary school, but this program really solidified my decision. Being able to make such an impact on the stray dogs & cats and learn so much about the welfare issues surrounding captive elephants was not only educational in the academic sense, but also made me really passionate about a career that's going to allow me to improve animal welfare in the future. Now I'm a third year veterinary student working on coming back to Thailand as soon as possible :)
Best experience of my life!
January 20, 2018by: Allison Groch - United StatesThe trip that Loop Abroad planned exceeded my expectations! This was my first time travelling alone and the staff was so organized and prepared that it put my nerves at ease, so I could enjoy the wonders of Thailand! You receive so many unique experiences, from living on an elephant sanctuary and working with an elephant veterinarian to living with new friends in Chiang Mai and getting hands on experience with dogs and cats. I met so many new friends from across the globe! I also went on the Adventure Bonus Week, where we explored all that Thailand and Chiang Mai has to offer. I highly recommend both the college veterinary service trip and the adventure bonus week!

Thailand
January 20, 2018by: AllieThese two weeks were the best two weeks of my life. The Elephant Nature Park experience was incredible. We spent each day feeding the elephants, helping the vets occasionally, watching their behavior, and giving them bathes. Nights were spent relaxing on the porches or getting massages from the Thai women. The second week we were at the Animal Rescue Kingdom. We got to work with our vets on blood drawing, injections, skin scrapes, fecal floats, restraint, and we were able to assist with cat and dog neuters. The cultural experiences included going to the night market, various Thai restaurants, a cave, and Doi Sothep.
Loop Abroad 2015
January 20, 2018by: akool9 - United StatesTraveling with Loop was so easy! I met a group of great, like-minded girls, and we still talk to this day. We had opportunities that would likely never happen in America, and we were able to dive fully in the culture and work at both Elephant Nature Park and Animal Rescue Kingdom. I recommend this program to everyone I can, and two of my friends will be going on a Loop trip this summer! I can't say enough to convey how life changing this experience was for me! Can't wait to hopefully go back as a vet student!
A unforgettable experience
January 20, 2018by: Madalynn Allbright - United StatesI loved going to Thailand and getting hands on veterinary experience unlike anything I can get here in the states! I love working along side the rest of my group with loving elephants, cats, and dogs! I made some amazing friends in my own group as well as outside of it. My favorite part of the entire trip was the elephants! Even though the last couple days I was sick I didn't let that ruin my trip. I left with some amazing memories and I can't wait until I can travel again with LoopAbroad and learn even more!!

The most impactful trip!
January 19, 2018by: Sophia Castro - United StatesI cannot express how inspiring my trip with LoopAbroad was! In the weeks I spent abroad I was immersed in so much diversity, and always felt at ease with all the staff we worked with. I met veterinarians from across the world, and was guided in hand on care for animals from the Elephant Nature Park, The Animal Rescue Kingdom, and the Tiger Kingdom. I would recommend this trip to anyone who wants to really experience Thailand and its animal populations as well as culture.
Future career path brighter than ever
January 19, 2018by: Samantha T-H - United States2 years ago I had gone abroad to Thailand with LoopAbroad for their College Veterinary Program. I had read reviews from their facebook and seen pictures on their instagram and it all looked so amazing and so unreal. I have always dreamed about working with animals. Their college veterinary program was the clarity I needed to ease my restless and doubtful mind about pursuing a career in the vet tech field. Those two weeks in Thailand taught me discipline, self control, confidence and of course veterinary medicine and animal science. I learned so much from my vet teacher, vet group leader and from my group mates. Loop Abroad was the dream program I have always imagined doing and after doing it I have never been more inspired and happier. I definitely recommend LoopAbroad's programs to any and everyone. I look forward to going on more LoopAbroad trips and hopefully one day I will be a leader and inspire my group like I was once inspired.
Life changing
January 19, 2018by: Madi - United StatesStudying/Traveling with Loop Abroad was honestly the best decision I’ve ever made. As a future CVT, I definitely got tons of hands on experience and knowledge which was a necessity, and you just can’t beat spending a week with the elephants. As an added bonus, the lovely people of Loop Abroad helped me rescue my boy, Maruai. He was at ARK, being picked on by the other dogs every day. Loop helped me adopted my boy and bring him back to the states and I’m forever grateful. But, aside from the adoption, such a rewarding and fulfilling program and everyone involved truly does care for the animals and the students

Once-in-a-lifetime experience
January 19, 2018by: Courtney O - United StatesI had my first international traveling experience in 2016 with Loop Abroad when I participated in their College Veterinary Service in Chiang Mai. In addition to being my first international flight, it was my first flight without my family but Loop Abroad made traveling as safe, organized, and comfortable as possible. When we arrived in Thailand, opportunities to learn and experience Thailand were presented to us left and right! This program had the perfect balance of experiencing Chiang Mai and gaining Veterinary knowledge. We worked hands on with shelter dogs and cats, receiving a crash course in veterinary medicine from an awesome veterinarian and vet student. We volunteered at the Elephant Nature Park and worked side-by-side with an Elephant vet and elephant care takers to help treat and care for the elephants at the park. I wouldn’t trade this experience for anything and I still can’t believe this awesome opportunity exists! It’s a must-go for aspiring Veterinarians with a thirst for adventure.
Extremely fun and educational opportunity!
January 19, 2018by: Rachel G - United StatesI loved the two weeks I spent with Loop Abroad in Chiang Mai with the college vet program. The US vet that went with my group was extremely knowledgeable and made us feel comfortable with procedures we were unfamiliar with. This trip gave me an insight into a veterinary career while also letting me work with elephants and experience a different country. Jane, Addam and the rest of the staff were so nice and helpful. I went in 2015 and I always get comments on my t-shirt that I got from the elephant sanctuary, either people saying they went there and loved it or people asking about it, and I am always happy to tell them it was amazing. Thanks Loop Abroad!
College veterinary service: Thailand
January 19, 2018by: Rebecca Moore - United StatesThe summer before junior year of undergrad I went halfway across the world on my own with a bunch of students from across the country and didn’t know a single one of the them. By the end of the trip we were all hugging and hoping to stay in touch. The loop abroad program gave me the opportunity to see the world and how not only people but animals have to live as well. I had the opportunity to realize how grateful I am for the things I have back home. But more importantly I had the chance to experience veterinary medicine in a different way than back in the States. It was fascinating to see how these people truly use their resources down to the scraps in order to do what they can for others and animals in need of help. I not only learned a lot of medical information but got the opportunity to enrich myself within the Thai culture and meet new people. It’s truly a blessing to be able to see the world and realize how much of a difference you can make in it.
Most amazing trip!
January 19, 2018by: Juliann Scavelli - AustraliaI traveled to Thailand in the summer of 2017 in hopes to see if my dream job was meant for me. This trip made me realize how much more I wanted to become a veterinarian. This trip was more than I expected. I stepped out of my shell and met some amazing people and got to interact with amazing animals. This was a once in a lifetime chance and I would take it again in a heart beat. I recommend this trip to anyone who has a love for animals or a willing to help them!!
Once in a lifetime experience
January 19, 2018by: Rachel - United StatesThis trip was such an eye opener for me and sparked a whole new passion for the field of veterinary medicine. The staff were incredible and the experiences gained were beyond measure. The first week at Ark, I learned so much about small animal medicine and surgery techniques. The second week at the Elephant Nature Park I had the opportunity to learn all about the elephants and understanding their history gave me a whole new perspective. This is no doubt a once in a lifetime experience and the people I met are ones that I’ll never forget! Highly recommend!

Thailand veterinary experience
January 19, 2018by: Samantha - United StatesI traveled with Loop Abroad twice before getting into vet school. My first time was this trip, the second time I did their South Africa Vet trip. My experience in Thailand was one of the best in my life. Thailand was beautiful and getting to wake up to elephants each day at the nature park was amazing. There were days where the volunteer work was hard but other days it was all feeding and bathing elephants. A However you should be warned meals at elephant nature park are vegan. I learned alot about veterinary medicine from the wonderful veterinarian assigned to my group we got to practice sutures and blood draws on models and assist with a neuter at the end if the program. I highly recommend this trip or any of loop abroads trips to anyone considering it. You will not regret it!

Trip of a lifetime
January 19, 2018by: Amanda Lewis - United StatesThis was the best decision I have made in my entire life! Traveling abroad is something I have always wanted to do and this program made it all come true! I traveled to Thailand as a Loop Abroad student in the College of Veterinary Services Summer of 2016 and then went back Summer of 2017 as a Trip Leader for Thailand 101!! I made friendships that will last me a lifetime and will never forget all my experiences! I highly recommend this program to anyone wanting to travel! Loop Abroad makes you feel like family with your group! And you will have memories you will never forget! If you want to travel, get in touch with Loop Abroad Staff and GO!!! You will not regret it! I am hoping to go back to Chiang Mai VERY SOON!! My home away from home!!

Most amazing trip
January 19, 2018by: Kara Laird - United StatesI had the privilege of being a part of such an amazing program. Loop Abroad is such an amazing experience! I learned so much about not only Veterinary Medicine, but also about the culture of Thailand. I love being able to be a part of the ARK shelter as well as The Elephant Nature Park. I learned how gentle and smart elephants were as well as how beautiful they are. The staff was so great and friendly. They helped where ever was needed. This chip allowed me to make life long friends! It was the best decision of my life to be a part of the Loop Abroad program.
Dogs, elephants and fun
January 19, 2018by: Haley DeLong - United StatesI have been on 3 study abroad trips and this one by far was my favorite. Not only was it hands on and educational but we got to experience so much culture while we were there. I would love to go back to Thailand or on one of Loop Abroad's other study abroad locations.

Future set on fire
January 19, 2018by: Samantha Tamburrano-Hernandez - CanadaJuly 9th-25th, 2016. Will forever be my favorite 2 weeks of my life. In those two weeks I managed to go on an adventure of a lifetime, make new friends, experience a new country's history and culture, and discover that my Vet Tech career is the career i belong in and should continue to strive for. LoopAbroad was everything and more. A real dream come true and eye opener. People always talk about adventures and experiences like these and I never believed something so amazing could happen to me, but it did and I couldn't be more happy that it did. I will forever be grateful for these experiences. I had always been doubtful of my self and my future in vet medicine, but Loop Abroad gave the hope that I am strong enough for the career. The staff went above and beyond to make sure everyone on our trip felt confident and safe through out our entire trip. Our Vet Teacher and Group leaders were very experience in veterinary medicine, patient in helping those of us who had zero experience in working with animals and also very insightful in helping us plan our future from college, to grad school to vet school. The hands on work we did was all new to me but it was all so exciting and fun. bounding with the other groups was also a fun plus, got to make more friends beyond our group. Getting to help out in surgery was the best part of working with the domestic animals and feeding the elephants was the best part of working with the exotics. Apart from getting to work with the animals my other favorite part was traveling around Thailand and learning about their religion and culture. It is such a beautiful country. LoopAbroad is an amazing program and getting a chance to be apart of them was incredible and I hope that one day I will be lucky enough to be a leader for them and inspire future vets and vet techs like I was inspired.
Trip of a life time
January 19, 2018by: Annebelle - United StatesI went on the college in the summer of 2017 and it was amazing!!! Leading up to the trip if I had any questions no matter how small I got a email right back. Meeting up at the hotel was smooth and all the airports went smoothly. When we got there everyone was amazing and so friendly. The vets were fantastic and I still keep in touch with mine. The animals were beautiful adorable and wonderful. I learned so much and had such a amazing time everything from the people all the way up to the veiw and the people were mind blowing if you get the chance to go GO! I can’t say enough good things about this program and this trip

Thailand was amazing
January 19, 2018by: Rachel Robertson - United StatesI have never had a better traveling experience! I was nervous about my first trip overseas without knowing anyone. I quickly made the best of friends with my group and still 1 1/2 years later we still check on and talk to one another even tho we are all over the US. The days are filled with learning and excitement from the moment you land! I had a fantastic time and if the opportunity arises I would go again!

Amazing trip for future vets!
January 19, 2018by: McKenzie B - United StatesAmazing life changing experience for all who are interested in veterinary school. I learned so much about elephants, shelter medicine, and Thai culture. Looked great on my vet school applications, too. I will never forget my experience.
Amazing trip
January 19, 2018by: Summer strader - United StatesThe trip was amazing. Not only was the culture incredible to learn about but the material taught in the classroom setting was from trained professionals. Honestly the best part about the trip was the people. The staff was incredible and always made sure we were safe, happy, and having fun. Any issues were immediately addressed. I could not have asked for a better program.
Loop Abroad
January 19, 2018by: Kaitlin T - United StatesI was lucky enough to travel to Thailand twice with loop abroad. The founders are always present and personally greet students when they arrived. Everyone on the loop Abroad staff were very personable and walked me and my family through every step of the application and travel process. Traveling abroad is a daunting experience but loop Abroad made me feel incredibly safe and welcome!
