Local Hope Guatemala

We empower under-served families and communities in Guatemala to be healthy, educated and self-reliant. You can help. Local Hope Guatemala has been hosting organized group service trips to the western highlands of Guatemala for more than 30 years, and is now offering two-week (or longer) trips for individuals, families or small groups to volunteer at their convenience. Founded in 1992, Local Hope, is a not-for-profit organization that provides a range of important services -- spanning healthcare, education, career development and related support -- to largely indigenous populations in poverty belts in Guatemala. We team with organizations, locally and worldwide, to empower critically under-served families and communities become healthy, educated and self-reliant so they can beat poverty and thrive. The expenses of our programs are supported by donations from individuals and foundations, healthy sources of earned income such as volunteer service programs, and endowment income. Because our earned income covers all administrative expenses, 100% of all donations are applied to fuel our programs that provide direct assistance. Since 2002, Local Hope has helped to deliver more than $8 million in Education, Health, Small Business Development/Micro-Finance, Clean Environment Initiatives and Emergency Relief.
