12 weeks internship
July 10, 2026by: Lisa * - BelgiumKGY is amazing! I completed my internship in a company in Seoul, which was very important for my university studies. Without KGY it would’ve been very hard to find an internship place during the stressful exam period I had prior to the internship period. The communication with KGY went smoothly. Miss Olivia who handled my case was very helpful, patient and very friendly from the beginning to the end! She even helped me to get in a language class so I would be able to acquire more necessary language skills needed to get around more easily. After the internship period we got to visit the 경복궁 wearing 한복 which was amazing (see picture). I had no major difficulties and Korea is a very safe country! In conclusion, I’d recommend KGY to anyone who would like great assistance for their internship in Korea ^^

My 2 month experience in South Korea
July 07, 2026by: Laila * - GermanyHello everyone, so I spent two months in Seoul,South Korea for an internship. These two months were amazing! I have met so many people from all around the world. I have discovered a lot about working in an office but I also got to help organize the Seoul Africa Festival and I have been invited to important events in fancy hotels in Seoul. During these two months I had the chance to visit so many places like palaces, themed park, traditional markets, rooftops, cute streets and cafes, even a huge music festival! To sum up I fell in love with the korean culture and its people!! If I had to do it again I wouldn't change anything at all. Thank you to Korea Gap Year and especially Olivia and Youjin for making this possible for me and making this life experience an amazing one!

Learning, Growing, and Adapting in Seoul
July 07, 2026by: Amber Ambrine - FranceI am Amber, french student in international trade and I had a two-months internship at Korea GapYear. Thank you very much to Korea GapYear and to all the staff for allowing me to do my internship in Seoul as I really wanted to. They have been very nice and warm to me since the very first day and helped me integrate into korean life. They have been really understanding and allowed me to gain experience, knowledge and try new things during my internship. Thank you particularly to Olivia who was my tutor during this internship and who helped me not only with my work but with the preparation of my stay in Seoul and my integration into korean culture. They've been really open-minded as I came while I was fasting and that made me feel even more comfortable working with them.
A Life-Changing Experience You Shouldn’t Miss!
April 11, 2025by: Greta Müller - GermanyI joined the program in Seoul for three months. To be honest, I was a bit nervous since I had never been abroad before—but it turned out to be an incredibly enjoyable experience. I spent most of my weekdays gaining experience at the company, and during afternoons and weekends, I had plenty of free time. There are so many places to explore in Seoul and around Korea, so I had lots of fun sightseeing and traveling. Whenever I had questions or needed help, the KGY team was always kind and ready to support me. Although it wasn’t a long period, I can confidently say it changed my life. Highly recommended!

Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a specific start date for internships?
Our partner organizations are generally flexible with internship start dates. However, you must wait for placement and visa confirmation before booking flights.
What is the eligibility criteria for internships in South Korea?
We welcome anyone 18+, whether a high school graduate who has yet to decide on a specific path of study or a college student curious about the world and enjoys new challenges. We prioritize applicants who demonstrate flexibility, open-mindedness, and the meaning of “teamwork”.
Are there language requirements?
We recommend that you have fluency in English or at least an intermediate level of Korean before starting the internship. Both languages are vital to avoid communication gaps, especially in a Korean-speaking work environment. In particular, knowledge of Korean enables you to participate in numerous tasks and responsibilities and learn more.
How does the program work?
The first step is sending your application, which we’ll confirm and accept. Then, we’ll propose a placement based on your academic background or professional profile. This proposal is based on various factors – the information in your application, your availability, and confirmation from the host organization.
Do you offer paid positions?
We generally provide unpaid internships, which allow participants to expand their life experiences and/or curriculum through a time abroad, in South Korea. We want to give them the opportunity to really develop their hard and soft skills through a placement with an NGO, social enterprise, or start-up.
