Learn Woodworking & Create Your Own Crafts in Bonghwa, Korea
Program Overview
Discover woodworking and create your own wooden crafts in Bonghwa, a peaceful mountain region in North Gyeongsang Province, South Korea. This hands-on program welcomes adults aged 19 and over who want to learn woodworking, explore creative projects, and experience environmental activities in a natural setting.
Learn woodworking techniques from a local master, starting with basic tools and safety practices before moving on to practical projects. Depending on the project, you may create items such as keyrings, trays, and cutting boards, using wood from wildfire-affected areas in the Gyeongsang region. You can also discuss your own project ideas with the master.
The experience goes beyond the workshop. Participants may have opportunities to help plan woodworking activities or exhibitions at a studio in the National Baekdudaegan Arboretum. Environmental activities may also include making crafts from fire-damaged timber and planting seed balls in wildfire-affected areas to support forest restoration.
Participants stay in private rooms on the second floor of the woodworking workshop, with shared access to the kitchen, living room, and laundry facilities. Choose a stay of one to four weeks and spend time developing practical woodworking skills, bringing creative ideas to life, and learning about local environmental efforts in Bonghwa.
Activities may vary depending on local conditions and project arrangements.
