Arts and Culture Volunteering in South Korea
by: Korea Gapyear
Turn your creativity into a force for connection and change through Korea Gap Year’s Art & Culture Volunteering program. Whether you're painting murals, leading workshops, or supporting local cultural events, your artistic expression can inspire and uplift communities across South Korea. This program is perfect for those with a generous spirit and a passion for creativity—whether you're a skilled artist or simply eager to explore art as a way to connect. Volunteers take part in activities such as art workshops for children or seniors, community wall painting, and event support. Join us for 4, 6, 8, 12, 16, 20, or 24 weeks and use your creativity to make a real impact. Programs run Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with evenings and weekends free to explore Korea’s food, music, fashion, and cultural landmarks. No special qualifications are needed, and basic English or Korean is enough to participate. Orientation is provided before the program begins to help you adjust smoothly. Activities are subject to availability.

Korea GapYear offer visa support by issuing official invitation documents required for the application process.
Do I need insurance to join this volunteer program?
We highly recommend obtaining accident, illness, and third-party liability insurance for your time abroad.
When will I receive confirmation of my volunteer placement?
After we receive all the necessary documents for your application, we will process your information and confirm availability. You will then receive a placement proposal based on your profile and interests. The confirmation process typically takes up to 8 weeks, including confirmation from the host organization.
How long does this volunteer program last?
Program lengths vary based on location, field of interest, and host organizations. The minimum duration is 4 weeks. We recommend applying well in advance, at least 2 months before your desired start date.
Do I need to speak Korean?
While we recommend at least an intermediate level of Korean or fluency in English, the more Korean you know, the more responsibilities you will be given.
