Wildlife Conservation Volunteering in Brazil
Program Overview
Volunteer in the Bodoquena Highlands region, where you’ll support wildlife conservation and community outreach activities. The project monitors wildlife, including the peccary population—medium-sized hoofed, pig-like mammals—of the Pantanal region. It assesses the factors influencing animal movements in the area, which is currently under threat due to illegal hunting, mining, and expansion of soybean plantations.
As a wildlife conservation volunteer, you’ll help in numerous activities led by local scientists. These include wildlife monitoring, exploring new regions for the presence and absence of large mammals, data entry, and setting camera traps. You’ll also assist with environmental education activities within the community, including seed collection, tree planting, and environmental English classes at the local school.

Is working with wildlife dangerous?
Working with wild animals can always be dangerous, however, each volunteer is given on-site training by fully trained staff who follow strict safety procedures, therefore incidents are very rare! Plus, peccaries are friendly creatures that don't harm
How long is the volunteering project?
The wildlife conservation volunteering project lasts for 10 days and costs $2128 (£1363).
What is the working day like?
You will be based in the highlands region of Serra da Bodoquena National Park, Brazil. You will be participating in many different activities from wildlife monitoring to setting up camera traps, exploring new regions in search of animals.
Do I need to pay for accommodation?
No! Accommodation is fully provided. You will be staying in a shared accommodation in a volunteer house in Bodoquena, nearby your volunteer project base.
What else is included in the price?
As previously mentioned, the volunteer program is fully hosted. Other things included in the price are;
- Food: 3 meals a day
- Airport pick-up: Someone will be there to meet you on arrival and when you are going home
