Apply to this volunteering project for deaf and blind children at a school in Cape Coast, Ghana. The project aims at providing a positive and safe learning environment for these children. The school is government-funded and serves as a sanctuary for those who would otherwise be deprived of the support and quality education they deserve. It fosters an inclusive environment where all students can develop and harness their abilities and talents and prepare them for future success.
As a volunteer, you will support teachers in designing, adapting, and delivering high-quality lessons. You will help in developing individualized education programs (IEPs). You will also teach the students about human rights, importance of active citizenship, and empower them to have academic and career goals.
No specific skills are required for this project but this suits those who are pursuing a career or with experience working in SEN education or childhood development. Participants must have a positive and dynamic attitude. Also, patience, flexibility, and empathy are essential when working with children with disabilities.

What are the required skills for this project?
No specific skills are required for this project; however, this project would be extremely well suited to those with experience working with SEN education or childhood development. Volunteers must also have the following attributes;
- A positive and dynamic attitude
- Patience
- Flexibility
Are there any documents I need to submit to apply?
You must be able to provide reasons why you want to work with disabled children and display motivation or experience in the field. Other documents, like visas and yellow fever vaccination certificates, are also required to enter the country. But don't worry; Kaya advisors are more than happy to support you fill out any documents needed.
What is included in the program fees?
The following is included in the program fees;
- Accommodation- 3 nights hotel stay and homestay
- 2 meals per day on weekdays
- Airport pick up and drop off
- Access to a personal online community account
- Cultural and safety training
- Orientation
- 24-hour support
How should I prepare for this volunteer program?
Apart from the essential documents needed to enter Ghana, such as passport, yellow fever vaccination certificate and visa, you should also consider the following;
- Any particular learning materials you wish to take
- Weather-appropriate clothing and sun protection
