Public Health Internship in Zambia
Program Overview
Travel to Livingstone for this internship and gain an insight into public health issues from an African context. While immersed in this field for four weeks, you will be exposed to professionals working in local NGOs or clinics, run workshops, and conduct your own research. The Public Health Internship in Zambia helps step up your interpersonal and leadership skills while making a lasting impact on the lives of local community members.
Ranked as a lower middle-income country, Zambia has big disparities to quality healthcare. Access depends on location, income, gender, and education. It faces numerous challenges, including increased workload with the HIV epidemic and shortage of trained staff. This internship was designed to assist in the initiatives taken to improve public health locally. Measures include implementing educational programs, promoting healthcare equity, promoting healthy lifestyles, and more.
Working knowledge of computers, including some experience with Word and Excel, is essential. Fluent level of English is also needed. You don’t have to be a native speaker but must have a good command of the language. Positivity, flexibility, and passion are a must.
