Program Overview

Help with the microfinance initiative of a community-based project that caters to orphaned and vulnerable children in this 4 to 12–week internship. You will work in facilities set up to keep these kids in school longer, perform better in their studies, and influence their lives as adults. The placement is based in Ezulwini Valley, the cultural heart of Swaziland.

Your role as a microfinance intern involves helping local volunteers design educational sessions, marketing workshops, and an evaluation system in awarding new microloans. Since the project is at its early stage of development, you will also assist in creating guidelines, organizing training in basic marketing techniques, and helping the local coordinator carry out basic data analysis.

You are expected to bring knowledge and/or experience in microfinance, as you will be working at a more career-focused strategic level and developing local capacity. You need to be capable of taking on more responsibilities, creating your own goals, and seeking activities to get involved in or lead.
