Is a basic level of Spanish required before learning Medical Spanish?
Not at all! We provide lessons for beginners as well as intermediates! Each course is tailor-made to fit the needs of each level and focuses on medical vocabulary. With classes being one-to-one, each student is able to receive greater support along the way!
What will the course include?
You will sit a written and oral test to assess your current level of Spanish before joining a course. The one-to-one approach helps you gain confidence quickly. You will cover:
- Beginners only - Basic vocabulary for reading and understanding
- Vocabulary with a focus on human anatomy
- Oral expression
- Practical Spanish conversation for conducting medical appointments
- Understanding: Readings and lectures about medicine, science & technology development
Where will I be able to use Medical Spanish?
You will be able to use your new knowledge of medical Spanish in many of the public and clinical health volunteer projects and internships that Kaya offers. Whether you are taking this course to put towards your university grade, volunteering over the summer, or you’re a nurse or doctor in training, this course will help you speak effectively with Spanish-speaking patients. Where is the language school located?
The language course is based in a language school in Quito, Ecuador. The area is mostly residential and is considered very safe for locals and tourists. The school itself is a lovely large and bright building, with a terrace where lessons are often taught!
What can I do in my spare time in Quito?
Quito is a beautiful city in Ecuador that has a lot to offer! You’ll never be bored during your spare time as you can hike the picturesque forest hills or relax in bars, and restaurants and roam the city’s museums. If you find yourself in Quito in December, you might be in luck to take part in one of the biggest celebrations in Quito; Fiestas de Quito on December 6th.
