Give your children the opportunity to have close encounters with African animals in a responsible way while contributing to a wildlife rescue and protection project. Based at a sanctuary located 20 minutes outside Bulawayo, the second-largest city in Zimbabwe, this project aims to rehabilitate and release animals back to the wild when possible. If it isn’t, staff at the center continues to care for the animals and include them in zoological studies, breeding programs, and other activities geared toward the future sustainability of each species. Duties in the center are related to the care of orphaned, sick, or injured animals. Families and volunteers are involved in all aspects of work: - Basic care and maintenance of animals - Relocation and tracking of released animals - Engage local children in conservation activities during their school excursions The project runs throughout the year, with arrivals on Monday and a duration of 2 weeks. This is open to families with kids 12-15 years old or individual volunteers 16 years and older. No specific skills are necessary to join, but participants must love animals and be prepared to get their hands dirty.
