Early Childhood Development Internship in Morocco

Travel to Morocco for a volunteer project geared toward children from modest backgrounds and attending public schools. As a volunteer, you will help acquire or improve the language skills they would otherwise not get. Schools teach French at a young age, but not up to high standards. English and Spanish are taught much later despite the vast opportunities these languages offer. Plus, local teachers find it challenging to teach an often overcrowded classroom with various abilities and ages. Based in Rabat, this teaching project welcomes international volunteers of all backgrounds. Bring your creativity to assist teachers and raise the standards of language classes. Unleash students' potential and help them learn English or French more efficiently. You will have the freedom to create and deliver your lessons. Mastery of your native language is a requirement to join this project. Also, patience and a love for teaching and mentoring will help you be successful during the placement.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Why teach English or French in Morocco?

English is taught later on in school kids' lives despite the increasing demand for English speakers for jobs. Language classes tend to be overcrowded and often have diverse ranges of ages and abilities making teaching more challenging. Your impact will allow kids at younger ages to begin to learn English and support local teachers in language classes.

Can I teach a language without a qualification or TEFL degree?

You do not need a TEFL qualification to teach abroad. The only requirements are that you have mastered your native language, be patient and understanding with children and of course, you must love to work with kids!

How do I apply to this volunteering program?

You can apply in 4 very easy steps!

    • Apply via the Kaya website
    • An advisor will set up a telephone interview with you
    • After receiving your confirmation, you will pay the balance
    • Your placement is secured and you will be sent information packs on how to prepare for your trip!

If you wish to find out more about the program before applying, you can also do that by requesting a brochure!

What is the accommodation like for this project?

You will stay in the capital, Rabat, in a recently renovated Riad in the middle of the Midina! The Riad is a shared house with same sex rooms that you will share with other interns and volunteers. You will be able to enjoy being in the middle of Moroccan culture and architecture.

Can I also learn a language whilst I am volunteering?

Yes, Kaya can arrange language lessons in French or Arabic whilst you’re on this volunteering project. This is perfect for volunteers who can't scrub up on some language skills or learn a new language entirely; just let Kaya’s program advisors know you want to take part and they can arrange this for you.
