Truly having such an amazing time at JCU this summer! My friends and I have learned so much from everyone here. JCU is such a great base for our travels. Everyone should study abroad here in the Eternal City!

So far I have had a great experience here. They offer so many courses that my home university does not offer. I have been able to deepen my understanding on Italian food, culture, and history which has made my experience great.

I really love the wide selection of classes that they have. I’m taking the Italian food culture class that they offer and I’m learning a lot about both food and history. I really enjoy going to the class and I’ve never seen anything like it offered

Studying at JCU was amazing. I enjoyed every moment and was so blessed to make so many memories. The class size is perfect for learners who prefer a more connected experience. The staff at JCU is so kind and always willing to help.

Living in rome even for a short period of time made me realize that all the documentaries, Tiktok’s, Reels and so on were actually underestimating Romes beauty and romanticism. Poems and a nice sunset at Tiber were the best experiences.

Avoid at any and ALL costs! Check the ranking before you make a decision! It is ridiculous to go to Rome to learn about the history of Roman art from Americans at a terribly low-rank American school in Rome, to begin with!!!! This program has a *terrible* director and is not recognized by credible organizations in the US but by one that does not care about any standard and which renews the school's accreditation based on gosh knows what. The faculty members are a bunch of bimbos, who take joy in messing with the students' grades and discrediting their efforts. I repeat: the program director is a psycho! If you like Rome, go visit Rome for as long as you want but DO NOT go there for John Cabot University. Apply for an MA in Art History at the numerous Italian schools in Italy.

Anyone can travel to Italy and experience the beautiful food, culture, language, and intoxicating architecture. It is another experience entirely to live there for 5 months, and also have an educational experience that is culturally incomparable to anything you can find in the United States. Having Italian professors, and fellow students from over 100 different countries was something I hadn't expected going into this experience. Not only did the demographics of John Cabot teach me so much, but I also got to walking through the historic neighborhoods of Trastevere to get to class. It was an inimitable venture that imbued so much wonder and beauty into my life. John Cabot had amazing student engagement opportunities as well. I joined the volleyball team for the semester and got to play in tournaments with my new Roman peers against other Italian Universities. Additionally, I went on the school spring break ski trip to the Italian Alps. Talk about a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity! Through my experience with GoAbroad at John Cabot University I was able to continue my degree program from my home university and continue my passion for Psychology during the day, and walk the cobblestone streets, eat carbonara, and drink aperol spritz by night. I will never forget my study abroad experience, and am eternally grateful to GoAbroad for providing it for me

I had a fun rime here! I would totally do it again! Best thing i have ever done , it allows you to experience rome 360 degrees while also traveling. I would do it every year of my undergraduate and nothing else.

Living in Rome is amazing, i love the culture and being able to see open sky museums. Everywhere i go it’s full of things i studied back in history and it just amazes me. All the professors here in uni are nice and i have very little problems in communicating with italians. even though they don’t really understand english they’re always willing to help me out

I got to see so many sites and take so many tours of the culture, food, and monuments. I loved seeing the colosseum, the trevi fountain, and eating all the amazing foods like focaccia, pasta, and pizza. Trastevere is such a cute neighborhood too.

Meeting new people has been so much fun I will miss Rome and JCU! JCU has no school on Fridays so travel is very easy for me and has made me able to travel all over Europe. There are many programs to do.

I go to a larger university in the USA and it was super cool to study in Italy! The smaller school feel was super nice. With the smaller school does come slight restriction in availability of clubs, specialized classes, etc. what they have is pretty good though!!

The school itself is good, I think the living accommodations could be a lot better. The different apartments are not equal at all. They offer a lot of instruction and help for orientation and getting used to italy.

I was nervous at coming at first as I have never been outside of the country, but i would never trade this experience. I have matured so much and the professors here are amazing as they are still working in their fields.

jcu was perfect for an american student to assimilate in a very different country. the teachers are awesome and it was nice to meet both native italians and other americans studying abroad. if you have the option to go to jcu, do it!

Be ready to immerse yourself into something totally different than the US when it comes to everything such as older apartments, to great food. It can be a tough adjustment at first and can weigh on you mentally but as soon as you get over the hump it’s amazing. Heavily suggest going with friends.

I have had the best time at JCU! I have met so many new people that u have been traveling and learning with. The people I was placed in an apartment with are absolutely amazing! We have roommate dinners every night! I also LOVE the classes I am in, the faculty are incredibly accommodating and kind and I honestly feel as though my learning experience here may be even better than that at my own university

I personally have been loving Rome. When it comes to classes, I have had a horrible experience with my Popes of Rome professor. He has made this experience really rough when it comes to the actual “study” part in “study abroad.” Other than that, JCU has been extremely accommodating, supportive, and the school is full of amazing staff!! This has been a great experience so far and I’m glad I came!

It’s a great experience. You can share nice experiences with other students and learn new things about different cultures. The courses are great, with good professors. The life in Rome is overall good and nice for young people.

Pros: - Housing I chose is in a very integrated part of town. I was able to explore and learn where to get food easily - Food at cafeteria was of high quality and was cheap for how good it was. - Staff are all nice. Very accommodating and helpful. -classes are taught by professors who care about their job and students. Small classes made it feel more personal. Cons: - Suffered multiple electrical outages in my apartment due to appliances. - Homework load for thermodynamics for me was heavy.

Rome is an amazing city and I am so happy to be a part of it. John Cabot being an American university definitely made the transition much easier when I arrived here but I wish I was exposed to more Italian. I felt like I was in a bubble. The courses are also a lot of work and pretty challenging, and and the professors don’t have much sympathy for people that are studying abroad trying to have a very packed and fun experience.

I loved the opportunity to study abroad at John Cabot University. I found the classes very informative and impactful, however at times overly rigorous. I also felt as thought as someone from a low context country, the teaching style of high context made my courses more difficult than they could have been, building upon the language barrier. I was also very upset with my living situation, having 9 people squished into a 5 person apartment with little availability to the promised household necessities, all the while paying the same amount as my peers who lived in comparatively, 4 star airbnbs.

Over this semester I had the best time abroad at JCU. I was able to meet amazing other study abroad students as well as degree seekers. All have helped me develop as a person. Being abroad has allowed me to open my mind to other cultures! I loved it here!

Being in Italy has been a dream and JCU made that possible! The academics were challenging but worth it for the experience! There are many school organized events and trips making it easy to immerse yourself in the experience!

I found myself very much at home in Rome. The food was also amazing. Being in Rome it is very easy to travel to other destinations, I saw the majority of Italy and many other places in Europe. Overall it was an amazing experience and I learned a ton!

JCU itself was really cool. Roommate situation though is annoying. I was able to travel a lot while i was here. I went to croatia, poland, spain, portugal. JCU does have a three absence policy. this can be very annoying.

I loved Rome! I was kind of disappointed with the workload at JCU. I was taking 15 credits and was extremely overwhelmed. I didn’t feel that some of my professors were preparing us properly for exams. This was probably my most stressful exam season I’ve had. Besides that I had a great time and enjoyed it.

Choosing to study in another country to get a degree was a huge decision to make but also one of my best ones. This school and community has been so welcoming and immersive to where I feel confident in my ability to travel further and continue to broaden my horizons. There is no place quite like JCU!

I’ve truly loved my time at JCU. I’ve met people I’ll cherish for the rest of my life and I’ve learned so much. JCUs not perfect but I don’t regret my decision to come here at all. If you want a more unique college experience you should come here!

My semester in Rome was the bar semester of my college career. I was less fatigued by my classes and i was more motivated to participate. My mental health was at an all time high just by being in a new environment. The classes are pretty normal depending on what you take, but typically they are graded by fewer things than in the US and have less busy work. Most of my classes were entirely lecture with not very helpful slides, which made classes a bit harder when it came to tests, but the teachers are super nice and classes are small so it’s easy to ask for help. The housing was nice and Lungara, where i stayed was super close to everything, but there was super loud construction which was terrible. You really get out of the experience what you put in. Because you’re in an american/english speaking community in Rome, the cultural immersion is found outside of your apartment and deeper into the city. You could explore the city of Rome all semester and not get bored, but it’s also way cheaper to travel and see other places while you’re here. I definitely recommend. Great location, great people, and a great semester.

I had lots of fun at John Cabit University. It was my first time in Europe ever and getting to live in Rome was definitely an experience. I met new friends and had the chance to visit other countries also.

JCU is in a great location. Grading is difficult so definitely not a study abroad experience with zero work. There was construction in our housing most of the semester but the location was worth it. Trips staff Giulia is the best.

I've been here for almost a year and i had the time of my life. The professors are experienced and help you with everything you need. With all the activities and clubs organized by students, you can make new friends and have a good time learning something new. JCU overall is the perfect experience and i would advice it to everyone.

Im from the Netherlands and coming to Rome has been the best decision I ever made. I did not know anybody but the community here at John Cabot is truely something else. My English has become better over time and I made friends from all over. Learning who you are in a completely new and fresh place. That is what studying abroud is all about.

I loved it lots, but for a study abroad program, JCU was challenging at times. Some of the classes were challenging, but I liked it because it forced me to focus on my academics and not just be abroad. Overall, I loved it. I had lots of fun and not having clases on Fridays was a blast. Would recommend to a friend.

i really enjoyed the fact that jcu provided a lot of resources and activities for us. they also made accessing help really easy such as for maintenance or health reasons. i thought that it was really easy.

I loved especially the trips we could sign up for! Totally worth it! I made the best friends, met the best people, and traveled a ton! I loved being able to travel on the weekends. One downside is there was a lot of homework, but we’re in school so I get it.

Classes are way too hard but fun, they expect way too much but i did have fun. If u want to not be stressed do not choose this school. However great location and cool immersion. That being said i did learn a lot

I LOVE JCU! I’m a junior marketing student at the University of Delaware and spent my spring semester here at John Cabot. I took international marketing, international business, consumer behavior, cities, towns and villas and had a digital marketing and content creation internship while I was here. My experience at John Cabot University was full of adventures and cultural learnings! The STAFF was very prepared from my acceptance to my arrival, making sure everything was alright and that I was safe. I stayed in the residency, that was specious and clean. Overall a great experience!

I loved studying abroad in Rome but have mixed opinions regarding JCU. I took great classes and most of my professors were fantastic. I would definitely recommend a walking class. Many people complained that classes were harder than they expected. My course load was manageable but I did have to stay on top of work and bring my computer on a few weekend trips. My housing placement was awful. My apartment was a 30 minute walk from campus on the 7th floor with an elevator that broke 4 or 5 times. I lived with 8 roommates who were not compatible and had continuous issues throughout the semester. We had a very small kitchen with one washing machine and not enough drying racks. The housing office was usually good about responding to requests. Our cleaning service was insufficient and rooms were often left dirty.

My experience at JCU was so fun! I was able to make so many new friends and be involved in the community. There was so many fun classes to choose from, especially in the Art History department! Rome is an awesome place to learn about Art History and I was able to explore Rome through my classes, and not just stay in the classroom. All the professors here are knowledgeable and kind!

I traveled almost every weekend of the semester, which allowed me to see so many different places, cultures, try new cuisines and experience so many fun activities. I absolutely loved studying abroad! My classes were pretty easy, since I didn’t have homework. It made traveling a lot easier too!

This has been a semester like no other for me. I love and am going to miss so much being able to walk out of my apartment and experience so much culture on a day to day basis. You get to see some of the most historical sights or famous paintings and sculptures that some people only dream of seeing. There is so much to do here that I feel I have only skimmed the surface on during my 4 months here.

JCU is superb. During my semester here in JCU, I was part of the cheerleading team and was lucky enough to experience the athletics side of the school. A lot of my fond memories here in Rome stem from being part of the community of the JCU gladiators. I choose JCU because it is a small university that has a tight net divert international community that allows students to study various different topics that interest them. In many ways, the experience is not new because I went to a German international school in Africa and spent my childhood around people of diverse cultures. Nevertheless, studying abroad has afforded me the opportunity to open my perspective to the realities of life, as well as to grow as a person by living alone and learning to command my life.

I had a really great expierence. A significant amount of cultural emersion. Classes and Campus are all nearby and easy to access the library. Lots of encouragement from peers and professors. Also, the environment that is provided by the students is very welcoming.

I had an amazing time studying abroad at JCU! There’s nothing like being in the center of Rome. My professors were kind and professional. The academics are not as rigorous as they are at my home university, which was a bit of a relief, giving me the chance to explore Italy and Europe to the fullest during my time abroad. I felt that across the board, the workload was light throughout the semester, but be prepared for when finals come around because that’s when the exams and projects stack up. As far as housing goes, I felt safe and secure overall. We had a guard at our door and had to scan in and out of the apartments (and all JCU buildings, for that matter). The only downside was that my apartment was a little farther than I would have liked from campus and from many restaurants and landmarks (about a 25 minute walk). But it’s a doable “commute.” Rome is a very walkable city, and there are various forms of public transportation that help us move about the city.

Since I have moved to Rome and especially participated in the JCU program my life has become a lot more adventurous and filled with more opportunities. I really enjoyed majority of my time here. The professors are great and the experience is amazing as a whole. I learn something new each day. Meeting people from all around the world is especially great and learning about new cultures and traditions that many people participate in. Rome as a whole is great for my major as I am an Art History student. I would recommend it for any one looking for a new experience.

JCU is a good transition for Americans coming abroad. It’s nice to attend a university where English is spoken! Some of my professors were not the most responsive or beat teachers I’ve ever had, but they were good enough for the time being. Going abroad to study has been one of the hardest but amazing experiences of my life. Specially being able to study in John Cabot University has been an incredible experience in which I have been able to grow and gain so much experience and knowledge.

As a transfer from a U.S. university I had a smooth transition as all my credits were transferred and I was already used to the US system. They offered a wide range of classes to pick from and the clubs and extracurricular enriched my career.

Being in Italy opened my mind. I was able to experience a new culture, mix with people from different backgrounds, travel safely and study in a great environment. The professors help you a lot and JCU is an amazing university in which study.

John Cabot University has been the best decision of my life. As an Art History major, there truly is no better place to be than the heart of Rome. JCU offers a unique experience to be in the Eternal City (which is much bigger than I ever could have imagined) while at the same time creating an intimate experience with the city, as well as with professors and fellow peers. One thing about JCU that I find frustrating, though, is the housing… We have to move out after every semester, which is challenging considering that most of the student body comes from all over the world and there aren’t many storage places in Rome. Also, non-residential students must be out of JCU housing by 11, which I found frustrating when my friends and I would come back from going out and I couldn’t stay the night. This being said, it shows how committed JCU is on security.

I have loved being in rome for a year now and I want to stay here for longer. The clases are amazing the professors are also great and the people are very nice. I don’t have any suggestions and I am grateful for being here

The opportunities, the experience and memories made at this university is something not many have the privilege to have in their lives. Beginning with the city, the culture, people and food it makes you feel at home. Not only the safe atmosphere, the professors and students develop a sense of family that I do not think I can find anywhere else.

I am currently studying abroad John Cabot university for the spring 2023 semester. When I get home, I will recommend this to anybody who will listen because it has truly been one of the most rewarding experiences of my entire life. Not only do I study at one of the most beautiful campuses I’ve ever seen, I am in the heart of Rome. This is my dream study and being able to experience life here is a dream come true. On top of that, I have been able to learn and take classes on subjects that I can see in person in Rome. Like ancient history and baroque, art and architecture. All in all, I said stay here!

Studying in a typical roman zone like Trastevere surrounded by a culure and a way of studying different from what I had already experienced feels like living into an hollywood movie. Moreover the possibility of challenging myself with a different kind of learning gives me a different kind of confidence.

You can meet different international students which is very good experience and can help you gain more exposure. The professors are very welcoming and well informed. The academics is really good. And caffe is amazing.

JCU offers many ways to be involved and be furthered immersed in Italian culture. The university is located so centrally in Trastevere that you feel very connected to Rome. The university provides so many resources as well so I am always comfortable with my loving situation.

I remind myself that being here is a more unique experience than I would get at other universities because of the immersion in different cultures I get through the people I meet. I would always choose this experience at a smaller university because of the small class sizes that let me have intimate intellectual conversations with professors and peers.

A good opportunity to go abroad to study if you want to earn credits overseas. Rome is beautiful and so is the campus. Would recommend contacting current students to get opinions on the professors before applying to courses.

I enjoyed my experience abroad however the hardest part was adjusting to the classes. They are taught much differently than in America so I did not do as well. For example, there are very few assignments with even less help with knowing how you stand in your grades

Being able to have a campus in the heart of Rome is an amazing experience. The opportunity to travel on weekends because the school provides an extra day off on the weekend must be the best part. The academics of the school are not the best they are about average, but everything else makes up for it. I recommend not to do student housing, it was horrible and I was in neighborhood apartments. the housing through the school is below average and overpriced.

JCU is great. The student body is motivated and ready to get their hands dirty across interdisciplinary fields. I love the opportunities given to me here, especially the intercultural experiences. The only negative thing I have to say about the university is that the academic advising could be better organized.

I’ve been in jcu for 3 years now and its very fun! Love the classes and people here! The administration is open minded and think outside the box to make a successful educational experience for the students. They teach value lessons, communication and leadership skills.

Studying at John Cabot is the perfect way to get a degree abroad while still following an American style of learning and has allowed me to make friends from all over the world. I am from Vietnam which is an Asian country, moved to the US for college and now have opportunity to study abroad a semester in Rome, Italy. It is the best experience in my life. I understand the difference between different culture, travel A LOT, like every week because we don't need to study on Thursday, so we have longer weekend. The academic program in JCU is quite difficult than in the US but it still a great experience.

John Cabot University is a beautiful multicultural, international experience in the heart of Rome. The course selection is varied and there is lots of free choice in how to structure your degree and college life.

JCU was the perfect place to study abroad. I went as a freshman during my fall semester because my college in the US didn’t offer me admission for the fall. Going in I was super nervous, but JCU supported me and the student culture there is so unique and inviting. I met over thirty other freshman going to my same university in America who have become some of my closest friends but I also have tons of friends who are degree seekers and from other visiting schools. As someone who has always been an introvert, JCU broke me out of my shell and made me so much better at socialising. Loved it.

Coming to JCU, I could never have guessed what an amazing and eventful semester it would be. This was my first semester of college, so going in I was completely new to living alone, making new friends, and navigating classes, not to mention starting off in a whole new country. However it was so easy thanks to JCU, my classes and teachers were great and being right in the heart of Trastevere opened me up to so many amazing opportunities. I had such a wonderful time and would recommend a study abroad here to anyone.

The international affairs degree is really helping prepare me for a future in the political sector and Rome is a fantastic place to study. The city is amazing, and meeting like-minded, open people at university helps you settle in easily.
