As Romantic As in Books
June 10, 2025by: Giulia Romito - ItalyLiving in rome even for a short period of time made me realize that all the documentaries, Tiktok’s, Reels and so on were actually underestimating Romes beauty and romanticism. Poems and a nice sunset at Tiber were the best experiences.
Chillin’ in Rome
June 10, 2025by: Giorgia Roscini - ItalyStrolling through Rome, between history and gelato, sunsets by the Tiber, and beauty in the chaos is an unforgettable experience filled with art, food, and everyday warm experiences with Italians. I enjoyed it a lot
I had a full scholarship and yet RAN FOR MY LIFE!
February 17, 2025by: Rose Rahi - United StatesAvoid at any and ALL costs! Check the ranking before you make a decision! It is ridiculous to go to Rome to learn about the history of Roman art from Americans at a terribly low-rank American school in Rome, to begin with!!!! This program has a *terrible* director and is not recognized by credible organizations in the US but by one that does not care about any standard and which renews the school's accreditation based on gosh knows what. The faculty members are a bunch of bimbos, who take joy in messing with the students' grades and discrediting their efforts. I repeat: the program director is a psycho! If you like Rome, go visit Rome for as long as you want but DO NOT go there for John Cabot University. Apply for an MA in Art History at the numerous Italian schools in Italy.
Spectacular Spring in Italy
December 30, 2024by: Caroline Denison - United StatesAnyone can travel to Italy and experience the beautiful food, culture, language, and intoxicating architecture. It is another experience entirely to live there for 5 months, and also have an educational experience that is culturally incomparable to anything you can find in the United States. Having Italian professors, and fellow students from over 100 different countries was something I hadn't expected going into this experience. Not only did the demographics of John Cabot teach me so much, but I also got to walking through the historic neighborhoods of Trastevere to get to class. It was an inimitable venture that imbued so much wonder and beauty into my life. John Cabot had amazing student engagement opportunities as well. I joined the volleyball team for the semester and got to play in tournaments with my new Roman peers against other Italian Universities. Additionally, I went on the school spring break ski trip to the Italian Alps. Talk about a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity! Through my experience with GoAbroad at John Cabot University I was able to continue my degree program from my home university and continue my passion for Psychology during the day, and walk the cobblestone streets, eat carbonara, and drink aperol spritz by night. I will never forget my study abroad experience, and am eternally grateful to GoAbroad for providing it for me

June 06, 2024by: Kaylee Rongers - United StatesI personally have been loving Rome. When it comes to classes, I have had a horrible experience with my Popes of Rome professor. He has made this experience really rough when it comes to the actual “study” part in “study abroad.” Other than that, JCU has been extremely accommodating, supportive, and the school is full of amazing staff!! This has been a great experience so far and I’m glad I came!

June 06, 2024by: Beatrice Malcotti - ItalyIt’s a great experience. You can share nice experiences with other students and learn new things about different cultures. The courses are great, with good professors. The life in Rome is overall good and nice for young people.
Review of summer abroad (thermodynamics and fluid mechanics)
June 06, 2024by: Max Siefert - United StatesPros: - Housing I chose is in a very integrated part of town. I was able to explore and learn where to get food easily - Food at cafeteria was of high quality and was cheap for how good it was. - Staff are all nice. Very accommodating and helpful. -classes are taught by professors who care about their job and students. Small classes made it feel more personal. Cons: - Suffered multiple electrical outages in my apartment due to appliances. - Homework load for thermodynamics for me was heavy.

political science
April 30, 2024by: Anastasia Jannin - ItalyThe program is designed to provide you the basic knowledge, I’m studying political science and after 3 years I can say that I was able to gain so much experience and knowledge from the professor. I really suggest this university
I had a fulfilling and mind opening experience!!
April 30, 2024by: Giulia Richardson - United StatesRome is an amazing city and I am so happy to be a part of it. John Cabot being an American university definitely made the transition much easier when I arrived here but I wish I was exposed to more Italian. I felt like I was in a bubble. The courses are also a lot of work and pretty challenging, and and the professors don’t have much sympathy for people that are studying abroad trying to have a very packed and fun experience.
I had a time of my life
April 30, 2024by: Corrado Di Petrillo - Italyho, my name is corrado and i want the merchandise for my friend because i’m graduating (i hope so). I’m graduating in economics and finance and i also have a minor in business administration. See you in the graduation day!
Once in a Lifetime!
April 30, 2024by: Nicole Sammarco - United StatesI loved the opportunity to study abroad at John Cabot University. I found the classes very informative and impactful, however at times overly rigorous. I also felt as thought as someone from a low context country, the teaching style of high context made my courses more difficult than they could have been, building upon the language barrier. I was also very upset with my living situation, having 9 people squished into a 5 person apartment with little availability to the promised household necessities, all the while paying the same amount as my peers who lived in comparatively, 4 star airbnbs.
Amazing Time
April 30, 2024by: Natalie Anderson - United StatesOver this semester I had the best time abroad at JCU. I was able to meet amazing other study abroad students as well as degree seekers. All have helped me develop as a person. Being abroad has allowed me to open my mind to other cultures! I loved it here!
Such an amazing experience!
April 30, 2024by: Taylor Campbell - United StatesBeing in Italy has been a dream and JCU made that possible! The academics were challenging but worth it for the experience! There are many school organized events and trips making it easy to immerse yourself in the experience!
Best leaning experience of my life
April 30, 2024by: Chiara Madonna - ItalyI am really liking my experience at JCU because the international environment can open your mind and broaden your life experiences, plus the relationship with professors and staff members is really good and they’re usually really available to help you solve any problems you might have.
Meet cool professors and even cooler people
April 30, 2024by: Gabriella Carani - ItalyThe campus is great, professors and staff are very helpful and friendly. The areas around campus are gorgeous. But most importantly the on campus resources (both for academics and general life aspects) are a GODSEND!
The best time of my life!
April 30, 2024by: Claire O’Shea - United StatesStudying at John Cabot was the best experience I have ever done. The professors at JCU were all so considerate and helpful throughout my time abroad. John Cabot being in Rome was the best place to be around and gave us access to travel wherever we wanted every weekend. Trastevere was the best place to live in the world and we loved.
I had a wonderful experience
April 30, 2024by: Hermann Allison - United StatesThe time I had at John Cabot university impacted my time studying abroad and it was very enjoyable. The stuff was investing in my experience although I wish they were more available to meet and ask questions. I used the schools writing center and that positively impacted my grade!

BEST SEMESTER OF MY LIFE!
April 30, 2024by: Jillian Tibbils - United StatesTruly a once in a life experience. I throughly enjoyed my time at JCU. The housing was super nice, and the onboarding process was super easy and seamless. I wouldn’t trade this experience for the world.
Italy and Rome are the best!
April 30, 2024by: Iris Tholke - United StatesJohn Cabot was a very fun study abroad experience. It was really cool to experience Rome through the eyes of a Roman. Trastevere is the best area in Rome (I might be biased), so it was really cool having it as our home base. The teachers were lovely and the students were amazing!! I found myself very much at home in Rome. The food was also amazing. Being in Rome it is very easy to travel to other destinations, I saw the majority of Italy and many other places in Europe. Overall it was an amazing experience and I learned a ton!
I had a great time!
April 30, 2024by: Alex Barrera - United StatesI loved studying in Rome. I was able to travel so much of Italy and John Cabot was amazing! All of my professors were very helpful and made the semester abroad so enjoyable. I would 100% recommend studying here!

Best new experience!
April 30, 2024by: Paige Zutaut - United StatesStudying abroad took me out of my comfort zone to excel and meet so many new friends and create a home out of a foreign place. I would 100% recommend this program to everyone in college. I have had the time of my life!
Perspective altering!
April 30, 2024by: John Henry Walters - United StatesJohn Cabot does a great job of exposing study abroad students to the joy of Rome and its surroundings. They offer walking tour classes of Rome that explain the rich history and culture of the city. The location of the campus is perfect located right at the edge of vibrant Trastevere. Highly recommend!!

April 30, 2024by: Okito Endo - JapanI was studying most of my interest at the john Cabot and by far it’s one of the best uni. I chose to take marketing as major during my stay and there are tons of courses with working realistic simulations

April 30, 2024by: Nate Cannizzo - United StatesLoved it, great school spirit, awesome location, great classes and supportive professors and overall an amazing community. I really enjoyed my photography class, the professor was supportive and made the class fun.
Cool Experience
April 30, 2024by: Lex Jack - United StatesJCU itself was really cool. Roommate situation though is annoying. I was able to travel a lot while i was here. I went to croatia, poland, spain, portugal. JCU does have a three absence policy. this can be very annoying.
Special Experience
April 30, 2024by: Ginevra Cusenza - ItalyLiving and studying in Rome has been the best experience of my life. I have met so many incredible people and am learning so much by living with individuals from all over the world and with completely different cultures than mine.
The time of my life
April 30, 2024by: Vittoria Caroli - ItalyThere’s not a lot to say since I am enjoying every single thing, I got attached to a lot of people right away, I got into sports and I feel very much part of the community of JCU. There is nothing else than good things
Overall great
April 30, 2024by: a c - United StatesI loved Rome! I was kind of disappointed with the workload at JCU. I was taking 15 credits and was extremely overwhelmed. I didn’t feel that some of my professors were preparing us properly for exams. This was probably my most stressful exam season I’ve had. Besides that I had a great time and enjoyed it.
The most impactful decision of my life so far.
April 30, 2024by: Solana Fairburn - United StatesChoosing to study in another country to get a degree was a huge decision to make but also one of my best ones. This school and community has been so welcoming and immersive to where I feel confident in my ability to travel further and continue to broaden my horizons. There is no place quite like JCU!
The good old days
April 30, 2024by: Dane Stone - United StatesI’ve truly loved my time at JCU. I’ve met people I’ll cherish for the rest of my life and I’ve learned so much. JCUs not perfect but I don’t regret my decision to come here at all. If you want a more unique college experience you should come here!
International Environment
April 30, 2024by: Erjon Vorfi - AlbaniaThis is my second year studying at John Cabot and I have met some of the most interesting and unique people from all over the world. Studying in such an international environment is so beneficial in so many ways!

April 30, 2024by: Katie Oro - United StatesI had a great experience at John Cabot University! The community is amazing and I made so many life long friends here. I would recommend John Cabot University to anyone looking for a great study abroad experience.
Go to John Cabot
April 30, 2024by: Addiaon Hancock - United StatesMy semester in Rome was the bar semester of my college career. I was less fatigued by my classes and i was more motivated to participate. My mental health was at an all time high just by being in a new environment. The classes are pretty normal depending on what you take, but typically they are graded by fewer things than in the US and have less busy work. Most of my classes were entirely lecture with not very helpful slides, which made classes a bit harder when it came to tests, but the teachers are super nice and classes are small so it’s easy to ask for help. The housing was nice and Lungara, where i stayed was super close to everything, but there was super loud construction which was terrible. You really get out of the experience what you put in. Because you’re in an american/english speaking community in Rome, the cultural immersion is found outside of your apartment and deeper into the city. You could explore the city of Rome all semester and not get bored, but it’s also way cheaper to travel and see other places while you’re here. I definitely recommend. Great location, great people, and a great semester.
Experience at JCU
April 30, 2024by: Lavinia Leoncini - ItalyMy experience at JCU has been great, I have mede many friends, and I have learnt so many things thanks to my classes, I can’t wait to start again next semester. I am ready to make lifetime long memories.
Study abroad
April 30, 2024by: Jezarel Ortiz - United StatesI had lots of fun at John Cabit University. It was my first time in Europe ever and getting to live in Rome was definitely an experience. I met new friends and had the chance to visit other countries also.
JCU
April 30, 2024by: Ashley Sims - United StatesJCU is in a great location. Grading is difficult so definitely not a study abroad experience with zero work. There was construction in our housing most of the semester but the location was worth it. Trips staff Giulia is the best.
JCU: The best UNI in Rome!
April 30, 2024by: Francesco Calcagno - ItalyI've been here for almost a year and i had the time of my life. The professors are experienced and help you with everything you need. With all the activities and clubs organized by students, you can make new friends and have a good time learning something new. JCU overall is the perfect experience and i would advice it to everyone.
How to really learn about yourself
April 30, 2024by: Judith Vergouwen - NetherlandsIm from the Netherlands and coming to Rome has been the best decision I ever made. I did not know anybody but the community here at John Cabot is truely something else. My English has become better over time and I made friends from all over. Learning who you are in a completely new and fresh place. That is what studying abroud is all about.

Loved it
April 30, 2024by: Jonathan Martinez - United StatesI loved it lots, but for a study abroad program, JCU was challenging at times. Some of the classes were challenging, but I liked it because it forced me to focus on my academics and not just be abroad. Overall, I loved it. I had lots of fun and not having clases on Fridays was a blast. Would recommend to a friend.
Best experience ever
April 30, 2024by: Ava Stern - United StatesHad the most wonderful time in Italy at JCU. Left a lasting impact on my life. The community and welcoming staff and students made my experience incredible and my transition very smooth. I felt welcomed and happy with my experience
Loved studying abroad
April 30, 2024by: Ava Schafer - United StatesI loved Italy and John Cabot and I’m so sad to leave! I studied abroad through API so I think my time and living situation was a little bit different as they provided a different housing option than JCU but nonetheless my time there was amazing.
i had a good time
April 30, 2024by: Bianca Reeder - United StatesJohn Cabot was really cool. It was pretty much a bubble of us all being American but getting to see Rome was amazing. The location of the University was perfect, Trastevere was the cutest little town and was honestly so wonderful
Great experience
April 30, 2024by: Sofi Bucany - SlovakiaI loved studying abroad in Italy! I learned how to become independent and how to get myself out of my comfort zone. I met so many new people and became best friends with them. I enjoyed being able to explore Rome and other parts of Italy as well as traveling to different countries.

April 30, 2024by: Amy Garibay - United StatesGreat school with tough curriculum. Came during the spring semester as an international business student major and it was overall an amazing experience. I would love to do it all over again if I could

April 30, 2024by: Ilana Trembisky - United StatesI loved John Cabot it is perfectly placed near the center of Rome. I lived my classes and the people I met. It was great
April 30, 2024by: Lauren Cayle - United StatesI loved especially the trips we could sign up for! Totally worth it! I made the best friends, met the best people, and traveled a ton! I loved being able to travel on the weekends. One downside is there was a lot of homework, but we’re in school so I get it.
Hard but cool
April 30, 2024by: Gabrielle Coia - United StatesClasses are way too hard but fun, they expect way too much but i did have fun. If u want to not be stressed do not choose this school. However great location and cool immersion. That being said i did learn a lot
Time of my life!
April 30, 2024by: Gillian Lebowitz - United StatesHad the most amazing time! Can’t imagine a better program for study abroad! I would suggest JCU to any of my friends back at my home university. I met some of the most amazing people and I can’t believe it’s already over!
It was a busy time!
April 30, 2024by: Kerryann Mackay - United StatesI enjoyed the time I spent here but it was chaotic. The time spent was good and I loved Rome but the construction in Lungara was tiring. I need more time to sleep and study but it was extremely loud. I felt like it wasn’t going to improve and it didn’t. But I enjoyed the housing I wish I was warned prior
Awesome!
April 30, 2024by: Morgan Harris - United StatesI LOVE JCU! I’m a junior marketing student at the University of Delaware and spent my spring semester here at John Cabot. An Experience I Will Never Forget
April 30, 2024by: Aidan Driscoll - United StatesI really enjoyed my experience at JCU. Coming into this program, I had no idea what to expect but after about four months here, Trastevere feels like a second home. The academics were challenging but also rewarding. The safety precautions the school takes are absolutely top notch. I would recommend JCU to anyone who is thinking about studying abroad.

April 30, 2024by: Gabriela Bittencourt - BrazilMy experience at John Cabot University was full of adventures and cultural learnings! The STAFF was very prepared from my acceptance to my arrival, making sure everything was alright and that I was safe. I stayed in the residency, that was specious and clean. Overall a great experience!
Loved studying abroad and the travel opportunities
April 30, 2024by: Abigail Fisher - United StatesI loved studying abroad in Rome but have mixed opinions regarding JCU. I took great classes and most of my professors were fantastic. I would definitely recommend a walking class. Many people complained that classes were harder than they expected. My course load was manageable but I did have to stay on top of work and bring my computer on a few weekend trips. My housing placement was awful. My apartment was a 30 minute walk from campus on the 7th floor with an elevator that broke 4 or 5 times. I lived with 8 roommates who were not compatible and had continuous issues throughout the semester. We had a very small kitchen with one washing machine and not enough drying racks. The housing office was usually good about responding to requests. Our cleaning service was insufficient and rooms were often left dirty.
Loved my semester here!
April 30, 2024by: Siobhan Jacoby - United StatesMy experience at JCU was so fun! I was able to make so many new friends and be involved in the community. There was so many fun classes to choose from, especially in the Art History department! Rome is an awesome place to learn about Art History and I was able to explore Rome through my classes, and not just stay in the classroom. All the professors here are knowledgeable and kind!
What a great semester!
April 30, 2024by: Grace Odonnell - United StatesI traveled almost every weekend of the semester, which allowed me to see so many different places, cultures, try new cuisines and experience so many fun activities. Changed my life!
April 30, 2024by: Zoe Overlan - United StatesI came to John Cabot University in Rome after taking a gap year and going to community college. I was looking for more and JCU has offered me everything I have wanted. Living in a beautiful, historic city, being immersed in the culture, constantly learning in and out of the classroom, meeting new people, and experiencing new things! JCU is so much more than a college experience, it is a life experience!
A Semester to Remember
April 30, 2024by: Barrett Miller - United StatesThis has been a semester like no other for me. I love and am going to miss so much being able to walk out of my apartment and experience so much culture on a day to day basis. You get to see some of the most historical sights or famous paintings and sculptures that some people only dream of seeing. There is so much to do here that I feel I have only skimmed the surface on during my 4 months here.
The best time!
April 30, 2024by: Teagan Wede - United StatesJohn Cabot is a great school if you want to travel while studying abroad!! Even if you don’t, there is so much to do in Rome in general. The location of John Cabot is perfect for rome, you are walking distance from everything and I felt very safe. The academics are pretty good and I loved all my professors. They did a good job at orientation too!

If I could do it all again, I would not change anything!
April 30, 2024by: Chinaza Ezechikamnayo - NigeriaJCU is superb. During my semester here in JCU, I was part of the cheerleading team and was lucky enough to experience the athletics side of the school. A lot of my fond memories here in Rome stem from being part of the community of the JCU gladiators. As a black woman of Nigerian heritage, I had the most amazing time and was welcomed into this warm community. Definitely worth it!

December 06, 2023by: Andrew Kaplan - United StatesJohn Cabot University has been one of the best experiences of my life. Being an american university located in Rome it offers a very unique international environment in which to create long-lasting relationships and have memorable experiences. During my three years as a degree seeker I managed to daily challenge myself with the very broad range of courses offered in all areas. The well-prepared and wonderful professors have all fostered my critical thinking and openness towards the world. I was able to combine my major with multiple minors, providing me with a unique interdisciplinary approach that has developed my critical, creative, and out-of-the-box thinking.
Metamorphosis- Complete Lifestyle Change
December 06, 2023by: Julian Franco - MexicoNot only is the faculty top notch, but the staff at JCU are some of the kindest people you will ever come across. The international element of the university is crystal clear the moment you enter the uni walls. Graduating in the world’s finest city
December 06, 2023by: Alessandro Cataldi - ItalyStudying at JCU, in Rome, is like living the American dream (for Italian people at least). Studying in such a popular place like Trastevere, while attending an actual college, merges Rome’s beauty with a study life that feels like a movie. I haven’t yet graduated, but I am sure that when I do, I will surely remember these years with tears of happiness.

Excellent and Unique Experience
December 06, 2023by: Cristiana McKenna - ItalyI had a really great expierence. A significant amount of cultural emersion. Classes and Campus are all nearby and easy to access the library. Lots of encouragement from peers and professors. Also, the environment that is provided by the students is very welcoming.
Once in a lifetime experience
April 24, 2023by: Ris P - United StatesI had an amazing time studying abroad at JCU! There’s nothing like being in the center of Rome. My professors were kind and professional. The academics are not as rigorous as they are at my home university, which was a bit of a relief, giving me the chance to explore Italy and Europe to the fullest during my time abroad. I felt that across the board, the workload was light throughout the semester, but be prepared for when finals come around because that’s when the exams and projects stack up. As far as housing goes, I felt safe and secure overall. We had a guard at our door and had to scan in and out of the apartments (and all JCU buildings, for that matter). The only downside was that my apartment was a little farther than I would have liked from campus and from many restaurants and landmarks (about a 25 minute walk). But it’s a doable “commute.” Rome is a very walkable city, and there are various forms of public transportation that help us move about the city.

Rome as a whole is great for my major as I am an Art History student. I would recommend it for any one looking for a new experience.

Spring abroad in Rome
April 24, 2023by: Katie Hammond - United StatesJCU is a good transition for Americans coming abroad. It’s nice to attend a university where English is spoken! Some of my professors were not the most responsive or beat teachers I’ve ever had, but they were good enough for the time being. The location of JCU is also great and in the heart of Trastevere which is such a fun neighborhood.
Great experience
April 24, 2023by: Gigi Schweitzer - United StatesAn amazing semester with opertunity to travel and meet new people, freedom to travel and get out of Italy into more of Europe. The American life in Rome
April 24, 2023by: Julissa Castro - HondurasAs a transfer from a U.S. university I had a smooth transition as all my credits were transferred and I was already used to the US system. They offered a wide range of classes to pick from and the clubs and extracurricular enriched my career.
Incredible experience
April 24, 2023by: Elena Orazi - ItalyBeing in Italy opened my mind. I was able to experience a new culture, mix with people from different backgrounds, travel safely and study in a great environment. The professors help you a lot and JCU is an amazing university in which study.
I had the time of my life!
April 24, 2023by: Alison Ladd - United StatesJohn Cabot University has been the best decision of my life. As an Art History major, there truly is no better place to be than the heart of Rome. JCU offers a unique experience to be in the Eternal City (which is much bigger than I ever could have imagined) while at the same time creating an intimate experience with the city, as well as with professors and fellow peers. One thing about JCU that I find frustrating, though, is the housing… We have to move out after every semester, which is challenging considering that most of the student body comes from all over the world and there aren’t many storage places in Rome. Also, non-residential students must be out of JCU housing by 11, which I found frustrating when my friends and I would come back from going out and I couldn’t stay the night. This being said, it shows how committed JCU is on security.
I had a time of my life
April 24, 2023by: Maria Paz Wandemberg Cruz - AntarcticaI have loved being in rome for a year now and I want to stay here for longer. The clases are amazing the professors are also great and the people are very nice. I don’t have any suggestions and I am grateful for being here

On top of that, I have been able to learn and take classes on subjects that I can see in person in Rome. Like ancient history and baroque, art and architecture. All in all, I said stay here!
The beauty of studying in a different environment
April 24, 2023by: Alessandro Cataldi - ItalyStudying in a typical roman zone like Trastevere surrounded by a culure and a way of studying different from what I had already experienced feels like living into an hollywood movie. Moreover the possibility of challenging myself with a different kind of learning gives me a different kind of confidence.

With its stunning beauty, rich history, and welcoming people, Rome is sure to leave a lasting impression on anyone who visits.
Great cultural immersion experience
April 20, 2023by: Maham Insha - PakistanI remind myself that being here is a more unique experience than I would get at other universities because of the immersion in different cultures I get through the people I meet. I would always choose this experience at a smaller university because of the small class sizes that let me have intimate intellectual conversations with professors and peers.
JCU is the best
April 20, 2023by: Ciera Merli - United StatesExcellent academics, beautiful campus, fun events and clubs. A place where all students can feel welcome. A once in a lifetime experience. Best art history department. Best study abroad program in Italy. Period
A good opportunity
April 20, 2023by: Phyllis Robinette - United StatesA good opportunity to go abroad to study if you want to earn credits overseas. Rome is beautiful and so is the campus. Would recommend contacting current students to get opinions on the professors before applying to courses.
I loved it
April 20, 2023by: Avery Bosco - United StatesI enjoyed my experience abroad however the hardest part was adjusting to the classes. They are taught much differently than in America so I did not do as well. For example, there are very few assignments with even less help with knowing how you stand in your grades
Living in Italy is super cool!
April 20, 2023by: Melissa VillegasBeing able to have a campus in the heart of Rome is an amazing experience. The opportunity to travel on weekends because the school provides an extra day off on the weekend must be the best part. The academics of the school are not the best they are about average, but everything else makes up for it. I recommend not to do student housing, it was horrible and I was in neighborhood apartments. the housing through the school is below average and overpriced.
I love JCU
April 20, 2023by: Kristin Fiorvanti - United StatesJCU is great. The student body is motivated and ready to get their hands dirty across interdisciplinary fields. I love the opportunities given to me here, especially the intercultural experiences. The only negative thing I have to say about the university is that the academic advising could be better organized.
It's great
April 20, 2023by: Nino Malakmadze - GeorgiaI’ve been in jcu for 3 years now and its very fun! Love the classes and people here! It is the best experience in my life. I understand the difference between different culture, travel A LOT, like every week because we don't need to study on Thursday, so we have longer weekend. The academic program in JCU is quite difficult than in the US but it still a great experience.

The best semester ever!
December 15, 2022by: Luella Soranson Way - AustraliaJCU was the perfect place to study abroad. I went as a freshman during my fall semester because my college in the US didn’t offer me admission for the fall. Going in I was super nervous, but JCU supported me and the student culture there is so unique and inviting. I met over thirty other freshman going to my same university in America who have become some of my closest friends but I also have tons of friends who are degree seekers and from other visiting schools. As someone who has always been an introvert, JCU broke me out of my shell and made me so much better at socialising. Loved it.
A great taste of Italian life
December 13, 2022by: Alejandra Koppersmith - United StatesComing to JCU, I could never have guessed what an amazing and eventful semester it would be. This was my first semester of college, so going in I was completely new to living alone, making new friends, and navigating classes, not to mention starting off in a whole new country. However it was so easy thanks to JCU, my classes and teachers were great and being right in the heart of Trastevere opened me up to so many amazing opportunities. I had such a wonderful time and would recommend a study abroad here to anyone.
Great place, great degree!
December 13, 2022by: Joe Rawcliffe - United KingdomThe international affairs degree is really helping prepare me for a future in the political sector and Rome is a fantastic place to study. The city is amazing, and meeting like-minded, open people at university helps you settle in easily.

I was worried that I would struggle socially and academically, but I’ve thrived since the day I landed here in Rome. The staff at JCU is incredibly caring and the people I’ve met are unforgettable. If I could do it again, I would.
Unforgettable experience, and an important stepping stone in life.
December 07, 2022by: Rocco Lee - United StatesI loved my time here. I have learned so much more by being here than I ever thought I would, from classes and from just living in a foreign country. It has been an amazing time and something I’ll look back on very fondly.

The best University in Rome so far!!! The professors are fantastic and so are the students !!! The most beautiful experience!!!
JCU: A home away from home
September 28, 2022by: Giulia Leo - ItalyI arrived at John Cabot a shy freshman, scared of change and the unknown, but deep down I knew JCU was going to feel like home since the very first day. In an English class on American poetry, we read a poem by Frost titled “The Death of the Hired Man.” A line reads “Home is the place where, when you have to go there, they have to take you in.” JCU took me in, and I am forever grateful to have found a place where I can always return and feel safe, and listened, and loved, and taken care of. John Cabot is to me, like it is to most of my friends and classmates, a place for love, gratefulness, and extraordinary connections. The greatest friendships were born because of a class in common or an extracurricular activity like the Matthew, our student newspaper. It wasn't always easy, of course; heartbreak, failure, and moments of loneliness or homesickness happened along the way, but it's hard to let the bad days get in your way when you wake up everyday in the eternal city. So my suggestion is: take the risk! Move to Rome, even if it's just for a semester, and dive deep into a new culture. You'll learn much about yourself and maybe you'll find a new passion. You'll make lifelong connections, either academic, professional, or personal, and you'll learn to be comfortable outside your comfort zone. But mostly, you'll find a place you can always return to, as if it were a home.

A complete learning experience
September 27, 2022by: Katharine Campbell - United StatesIn my three years at JCU, I learned not only about a beautiful city and how to navigate life in a foreign country, I also figured out so many parts of myself; what I liked and disliked, what I wanted for my future what I enjoy doing. My time there was very fruitful; from graduating college to learning a new language to finding a job to support myself after university. I still live in Rome and I’m so thankful for my experience.
Time of my life!!!!
September 27, 2022by: Skander Hidri - FranceI had a great experience at jcu! Took really cool and enriching classes with qualified professors :) had the opportunity to travel around italy and europe!!! I wouldn’t change this experience for the world
Multicultural experience
September 27, 2022by: Juan Manuel Durán Bacca - ColombiaComing here to Rome it’s being an extraordinary experience. Despite the distance from my home, I don’t feel I’m a stranger here. I have no complains about any professor, and the student environment have been nice. I would like a little bit more help so I can do my inter ships here in Italy, due I’m in my last academic year, and I want to have the opportunity of living here. But in the academic field, JCU is meeting my expectations. I’m not in JCU housing because I think it’s to expensive, and for friends, I know the spaces is not the best, because in some apartments are living to many people in a very small place.
Just go!
September 22, 2022by: Madi Turner - United StatesStudying abroad at JCU was one of the best life decisions I ever made. I made the best friends and got to travel the world. The 4 day class schedule really helped with taking weekend trips. I do wish that they had a rate my professor so you know what you’re getting yourself into class wise. I had some of the worst professors I’ve ever had but also some of the BEST professors. Do not be scared to go abroad, just go! You will come back to the US a changed person.
Student
August 03, 2022by: Mary Beaumont - United StatesThis was a wonderful experience! I met many new people and was integrated into Italian culture. I took 2 classes at John Cabot University and learned a lot.I also enjoyed the excursions with the Program. We went to Pompeii and a few other places
Fantastic!
August 02, 2022by: Gabby A - United StatesAn unparalleled intercultural experience in a perfect location! Fantastic staff, professors, food, living, all added up to make a great experience. The effort by the orientation committee was evident and appreciated!
Best 5 weeks in my life
July 27, 2022by: Shahd Hammad - EgyptI am really happy that I did this experience. I love everything about John Cabot and everyone was very welcoming and helpful. I have learnt many things and all my classes were fun and engaging. I loved the giancolo housing as it is well equipped. Wishing I come back here again for another semester!
Great time
July 18, 2022by: Madison Moore - United StatesI’ve had a lot of fun here at John Cabot. It’s a great experience and you really learn a lot in just 1 month of classes. This was my first time in Europe and I wasn’t sure what to expect but JCU made it a seamless transition and it’s a really great community.
I had a great time !
June 24, 2022by: Cheyenne Miller - United StatesI loved it here. JCU is beautiful ! I learned so much about the Italian culture; the way classes work in Europe and learned so much about my professor. All the campuses at JCU are conveniently located and the staff is extremely friendly and helpful at all times. I felt safe in the housing and in the classroom.
Fun times and great wine
June 24, 2022by: Nicole Wernimont - United StatesI loved my study abroad experience. I met some great friends and enjoyed my class. My professor was engaging and entertaining with class discussions and was willing to answer questions. At the beginning though I felt I was being thrown all over the place with orientation and I think the orientation process could have been communicated better so I knew what I was getting into.
Partied it up in Italy
June 24, 2022by: Sachiko Bean - United StatesI really enjoyed doing this. I got to travel as well as the class being well taught. I enjoyed meeting new people. I got to experience the culture. The only thing I didn’t like was the neighborhood apartments were without air condition and that sucked. But overall everything else was amazing and I’d do it again
Super fun in Rome
June 24, 2022by: Anya Gupta - United StatesJCU is located right in Rome so you are walking distance to everything. Classes are fast paced over the summer but definitely depends on your teacher, but seemed to cover the necessary academics. Living situation can be great location and ac or far from everything without ac, so if you get places in the better apartments you will probably have a better experience especially if you’re only here for the summer. But overall it was a great experience and I had a lot of fun!
Do it!
June 24, 2022by: Tierney B - United StatesJohn Cabot University is an amazing school and a great place to study abroad. I had an amazing professor and the staff are wonderful. The security is super high so i never felt unsafe. Studying here was a great decision.
Awesome experience!
June 23, 2022by: Trey F - United StatesJohn Cabot was a great university for my study abroad experience! The professors were awesome and accommodating, and I learned a lot both in my classes and living in the heart of Rome! I highly recommend this experience!
I am having a great time!
June 23, 2022by: Samuel Webster - United StatesI have been able to explore Rome and get classes done at the same time. I am also enjoying my internship opportunities and the freedom to explore outside of Rome. I have already made some of my best memories here and gotten closer to many friends.
Best experience ever!
June 23, 2022by: Katie Schlacks - United StatesI loved studying abroad at John Cabot University. It was an incredible experience from meeting new people, traveling across Europe, and taking classes from great professors. Truly a once in a lifetime experience I’ll never forget!
Amazing experience!
June 23, 2022by: Jessie Thompson - United StatesIt was a phenomenal experience to study abroad in Rome and JCU was a great place to do it! They have weekend trips, day trips, cooking classes, and sports trips with hiking that you can sign up for. Also there is the Tiber Cafe on campus and their food is very good! If you have any questions you can easily go to one of the offices and get them answered or get directed to the right place. One cool thing is that JCU does have a money exchange on the Critelli campus. Also the location of the JCU campuses is perfect since it’s right in Trastevere where there is a lot of restaurants and stores and then it’s not far from the bridge to cross into the middle of Rome where you can see all of the monuments.
Amazing study abroad experience
June 22, 2022by: Natalie Green - United StatesI would recommend John Cabot for anyone wanting to study abroad in Italy. The university itself is so easy to work with and was super fast and responding to me anytime I had questions. Moving in and orientation was a pretty quick process and they helped us every step of the way so I was never confused. They helped guide us around town and the RA’s were always there to help us learn the new area. Speaking of area John Cabot is located in Trastevere and it is an area that has everything. Perfect area for students coming from America! Overall, I loved my summer abroad with John Cabot
Best Summer ever!
June 22, 2022by: Rachel King - United StatesExcellent summer experience at John Cabot. I could not have picked a better place to call my home in Italy. John Cabot had an easy process for admissions and orientation along with arrival. I felt very welcomed through every step of orientation. There have been many activities and experiences at my disposal as well.
An unforgettable experience!
June 22, 2022by: Rachel Stegall - United StatesI have loved my experience at JCU; I have made so many new friends in my classes, and being in the Trastevere area has given me ample opportunity to explore and immerse myself in the culture. The people at JCU are so friendly and helpful! Going abroad can be intimidating, but they made us feel very welcome and very safe. I would come back in a heart beat!
Study abroad Summer 2022
June 22, 2022by: Jess Salamone - United StatesI studied abroad at JCU in Summer 2022! It is my last day of class today and my final is tomorrow but overall it has been great. All of the staff that I have met are friendly, room accommodations are better than I thought they were going to be, and the Trastevere neighborhood is nothing short of amazing. The school's location is also central to many of the popular sites in Rome which is nice!!
It was great!
June 21, 2022by: Kimberly Cea - United StatesI think this is a great school! It is very centrally located in the city, which me and my friends really enjoyed. My apartment was about a 20 minute walk away, which isn’t bad at all! There were a few hiccups in the road for me but overall it was a good experience. Staff is friendly for the most part. I really enjoyed my classmates and the course. Each and every campus has a good vibe and I truly felt comfortable waking into each and everyone of them, right off the bat!
I loved Rome and thought it was a great place to get a feel for the Italian culture!
June 21, 2022by: Megan Brooks - United StatesRome is a huge city but through my class I took, Rome: Modern City (On-Site), I was able to see so many different neighborhoods. I feel so privileged to have been able to experience the culture here from the food, fashion, and people. At first I was so overwhelmed by the size of this city but by the end I came to appreciate al the different things each neighborhood had to offer. I will miss it!
The best 6 weeks of my life :)
June 21, 2022by: Kelly Schmieder - United StatesMy experience at JCU has been one I will never forget. I was very nervous going all the way to Rome to study abroad but the help and support I received from the University made me feel right at home instantly. Everyone I met was so welcoming and friendly and I loved how they gave Friday’s off from school so we can travel around Europe! I would definitely recommend this program to anyone who loves to travel and wants to have a ton of unforgettable fun :)
I don't regret a thing!
June 21, 2022by: Amanda Sweeney - United StatesI attended John Cabot for summer session 1 (May-June). It was a particularly hot summer and a lack of air conditioning in the apartment was difficult. I was placed in the Trastevere apartments because they ran out of space in the primary housing options. There was a 25-minute walk to class every day since the apartments were a mile away from the university. I also lived with 8 other girls. It could be challenging at times. Regarding coursework, they exceeded my expectations. The professors spoke English very well and I had a great experience in the classroom. I thought that the food in the cafeteria wasn't that bad. I liked the staff and there were always a lot of food options. I enjoyed my time at JCU. My main complaint was about the living situation, but most people get the Gianicolo or Lungara apartments, so they don't have to face these issues.
A really good time!
June 21, 2022by: Ria Jansun - United StatesI had an overall really good experience abroad. It was really nice to study at John Cabot because it is an English college so it was east for me to understand classes and I did not have to worry about a language barrier. The main concern over this trip was my lack of ac. Other than that I had an amazing time!
JCU review
June 21, 2022by: Hannah Frassetto - United StatesI had an amazing time at John Cabot University! I really enjoyed both of my classes and my professors were kind and knowledgeable. However, the living situation I was put in was not good. While JCU does offer some great apartments, many students get placed in apartments that are more than a 25 minute walk from campus with no AC. I was in this situation, and in addition to the distance and lack of air conditioning, our stover, refrigerator, and washing machine broke multiple times. Our apartment was dirty when we arrived and if we walked around without shoes on, the bottom of our feet would turn black. Despite this unfortunate situation, I would still recommend JCU (but maybe get your own apartment or hope you are lucky enough to be placed in one of the nice ones)!
Unforgettable experience
June 21, 2022by: Gabriela Fiato - United StatesI thoroughly enjoyed my time at John Cabot University! The teachers were helpful and kind with great outside of class experiences as well. There was an appropriate balance of academics and fun with a decent amount of work. Location is close to many restaurants and places to shop as well as being relatively close to the tram stop. Living situation was the only bump with no A/C and living with 8 other people. No work is assigned on weekends which allows time for exploring and traveling throughout Italy and Europe. Overall, an unforgettable experience that made many memories and friends.
Great time in Trastavere
June 21, 2022by: Lewis Rippy - United StatesStudying abroad was a great decision. John Cabot University was a great way to learn while in a different country, and they did a great job of immersing me in Rome. Walking through the Trastavere area of Rome on the way to school was an amazing experience as I was able to experience first hand of many Italian citizens by walking and eating around them.
Amazing experience
June 20, 2022by: Lizzu Pfeiffer - United StatesMy time at JCU has been a great experience. The location of the university is awesome as it is located right in the heart of trastevere. Trastevere is a great area and has lots of restaurants and shops. It is also great for cultural immersion. The university itself provides lots of resources and makes these all available to study abroad students which is nice. Overall it was a great experience
I had an amazing experience!
June 20, 2022by: Evan Holly - United StatesStudying at JCU has brought me countless more opportunities to grow as an individual. Being in a new environment and seeing the culture has helped me grow immensely. I have enjoyed the great curriculum as well as the great staff. The students have been great to know also.
Rome!!
June 20, 2022by: Sarah Ripel - United StatesLoved my experience! My only real complaint is about the housing. I lived in trastevere and it's way too hot over the summer to not have AC. I was also told that some students in lungara were provided fans in addition to the AC while Trastevere students got no way to cool down. Other than that, academics and trips were amazing! You could choose top pay ~€300 for a weekend trip planned entirely by staff. So much nicer than trying to plan yourself and not really any more expensive! Highly recommend.
Be safe in Rome!
June 20, 2022by: Nicole Kopfensteiner - United StatesI want to emphasize the safety of studying abroad in Rome to future students. Unfortunately, I found that drugs and robberies are quite common. My friends was drugged at a bar and then robbed. They also beat him to the point where they broke his nose and jaw. Please be careful especially at the bar scene, and never ever walk home alone at night. As long as you are aware of your things and your surroundings, you will be okay - there is no need for much concern if you have good awareness!
I had a great experience!
June 20, 2022by: Hanna Maheras - United StatesHousing was amazing! Courses weren’t too demanding for the time period. Dining experience was always great. I wish there were more opportunities for the campus planned activities, they filled up too fast! I had a great navigation tour, the leaders were so fun and gave us a ton of tips and tricks to the city. The only “bad” experience I had was the arrival form the airport. My flight landed at 8:25 and I didn’t get to campus until 12:45. The buses were coming slow on purpose that part I understand. But there was no line for the bus just a clump of people and there was a lot of cutting and pushing and it was very frustrating and not welcoming.
Love Trastevere
June 20, 2022by: Juliana Bush - United StatesThe neighborhood that the university is in (Trastevere) is amazing and so lively! I loved being near so many restaurants and a good night life scene while still being a walk from the city center. I came abroad during the summer, so there were a lot more Americans than international students which I didn’t fully expect, but it is an American university.
The best start to my summer!
June 20, 2022by: Holly Reda - United StatesStudying at JCU gave me an opportunity to meet new friends and explore different parts of Italy as well as different cities in Europe. Class at JCU allowed me to talk about different issues around Italy and compare them to the issues in America. My dorm was perfectly placed in the middle of Trastevere. Walking the streets immersed me in the culture and had some of the best food I have ever tried! The food in Italy is just amazing and you sure will have some of the best options near the JCU campuses! I recommend everyone to do this because I am so sad to leave!
Best experience of my life
June 20, 2022by: Alexis Brophy - United StatesI had the most amazing experience studying at JCU for 5 weeks. It gave me the opportunity to immerse myself into so many cultures that I didn’t know about. It was an experience that I wouldn’t trade for the world.
Get your money's worth!
June 20, 2022by: Sofia Lopez-Somohano - United StatesReally good education and attentive professors. Housing accommodations were nice (updated, cleaning service, good location). They also help a lot and have helpful offices: like helping to plan travels inside and outside of Italy. The only downside is that ACs barely work or are never on in the apartment and academic buildings.
I really enjoyed studying abroad it was probably one of the best experiences of my life
June 20, 2022by: Anna Riolo - United StatesI really enjoyed studying abroad. I did feel there were certain things the school itself could have provided more of but I understand it’s only a few weeks abroad. I wish there were some more variety of prearranged activities and resources for tours etc throughout rome to help students. Overall I had a great experience
Great experience in Rome!
June 20, 2022by: Joseph Tatum - United StatesI was looking forward to this trip for a long time because my family is from Italy and I had never been before. Getting here and being immediately immersed in the culture of Rome and Italy was awesome! The school has been great giving us activities and recommendations for places to go. It has been an amazing trip!
Cultural experience of a lifetime
June 20, 2022by: Angelina Ziegler - United StatesGreat program to go abroad and learn about new cultures and ways of life while simultaneously earning credit for your designated major. I took my Chemical Engineering Thermodynamics class abroad and loved every minute of being here. While studying took out a good chunk of time, I was able to enjoy Rome and trips with my friends
It was fun
June 17, 2022by: Ameli Huang - United StatesIt was fun and I would come back if I had to opportunity. At first, I didn’t really like the environment and I thought it was weird and I felt out of place but as I stayed longer, I started to enjoy and I really liked my roommates which made it easier to transition into the university.
I had an amazing time!
June 16, 2022by: Lea Schroth - GermanyI took thermodynamics during the 5 week summer program at John Cabot. Overall I had an amazing experience being able to get credit for this class while experiencing everything Rome had to offer. My only complaint would be that we only had a single day to pay for housing and were not told the date ahead of time. Had someone not mentioned it to me, I would have missed the deadline.
Finishing my minor in Italy
June 16, 2022by: Ethan Bartiromo - United StatesI am a creative writing minor, and I really only decided to become a creative writing minor because I saw that JCU offers two creative writing classes that transfer to my school that I have not taken yet. I decided to take out some extra loans to do a summer semester, and it was definitely worth it with how much fun I am having with my new friends and even inside class. Overall this school has the American aesthetic while still immersing myself in a foreign environment and in small class sizes for easy instruction.
I had a great time
June 16, 2022by: Kate Carter - United StatesI enjoyed my time at JCU. I did not enjoy the inflexible dorm situation because I wanted to hang out with friends in other places. I enjoyed the gym and my dorm. Location was great. I liked my classes and the professors.
Best study abroad program
June 16, 2022by: Leah Karlan - United StatesI really enjoyed studying abroad at John Cabot. I was able to participate in athletics, student life, great academics and cultural immersion in only 5 weeks. I was able to travel Europe while also contributing to my undergraduate degree. I highly recommend going to JCU for study abroad.
The best experience!
June 16, 2022by: Olivia Shutley - United StatesMy time abroad has been amazing. JCU is a beautiful campus and a great place to study. Living in Trastevere has been the best experience. All my teachers have been great and the classes are super interesting. Living and studying in Rome has been an experience I’ll never forget.
Amazing new experience
June 16, 2022by: Joel Ruiz - United StatesIf you are trying to study somewhere outside of the country, for the first time, JCU is a great option. The staff is amazing, the community is nice and almost everybody speaks English so you won't get lost.
Best 5 weeks
June 16, 2022by: Olivia LaBella - United StatesI went abroad really nervous for this experience. Once I got here I was really happen with my decision. The friends that I have been able to make with this experience is amazing. These people will forever be part of my life. I have loved being here and hate to leave. It has been a different type of place that has opened new sides of me that I love
Worth doing!
June 16, 2022by: Maria Smits - United StatesThe program is definitely worth doing. Good class variety. I took a class on the popes throughout history, one of the few programs to have a religious studies class in the world. The class was a bit disorganized and rushed, but I learned a lot. The class helped me know where to explore rome more too
Overall experience was 6.5/10
June 16, 2022by: J L - United StatesPositive experiences: kind and friendly staff (especially at Tiber Cafe), quick replies to email inquiries, campus is clean, lots of restaurants near offer JCU discounts, decent location, relatively good living situation, provided kitchen equipment & bedding/towels in apartments, cheap prices in Tiber Cafe and pretty yummy food Negative experiences: -The fire alarm in my room went off several times (at least 5) for no apparent reason, particularly at night when everyone's sleeping. After it went off randomly 3 times, I filed a maintenance request for the alarm to be fixed. I waited 3/4 days for the maintenance person to come, and when they did, they didn't even go into my room, where the fire alarm is. They simply went into the bathroom and then left without ever fixing my fire alarm. Since the fire alarm continued to go off randomly, I filed a second work request, and then they fixed it. The maintenance person should have fixed the problem the first time. -Included in our housing fee, we pay for the cleaners to come and clean the common areas of each apartment once a week. I only studied abroad for one session, which is a 5-week long program, and thus the cleaners should have come 4 times within those 5 weeks. However, for one of those times, the cleaners never came because of a national holiday. Our apartment was basically not cleaned for 2 weeks, although we had paid for it in our housing fee. Since the cleaners failed to come for 1 of the 4 total scheduled times, they did not fulfill their obligation 25% of time this summer. I'm not sure why JCU didn't reschedule the cleaners to come on a day before or after the holiday. -The main building for the Trastevere apartments only has 9-person apartments. I personally think that living with 8 other strangers is a lot to ask, especially because we weren't given the option to choose a preference to live in Trastevere. Also, the cost of paying for a double vs a triple bedroom is the same, which doesn't make sense. -JCU has you pay the housing payment in full before they let you know which housing you are getting, and different housing has different prices. Thus, we had to overpay for housing because we did not yet know which housing price we were going to get yet. I ended up overpaying $500. No one notified us about how to get our refund, as many of us had overpaid. I had to email the school on my own initiative to ask about a refund. When they did offer me a refund, they initially wanted me to send my bank account information over email for them to wire the money back to me. Only when I asked for other options did they say they could write a check or give me the money in cash. I think it's odd that they initially told me to send over my bank account details over email because that would be very insecure and would allow any mal-intended employees to steal money from my bank account. -I'm not sure what standards the professors had to surpass in order to get hired, but one of my professors simply sucked. He is definitely not cut out to be teaching, and he also was not super nice. The professor also said that JCU pays very little, which is sad for the professors considering a lot of them come from America to teach for the summer and have to pay for their own housing/flights. -The Tiber Cafe dining hall food was almost never warm. It was all just slightly above room temperature.
Summer session abroad
June 16, 2022by: Dara Federici - United StatesThis was such an amazing experience. John Cabot University did such a great job at getting the foreign students comfortable in their residences for the summer session. As well as proving support when needed.
Best 5 weeks ever
June 15, 2022by: Leah Karlan - United StatesJohn Cabot gave me the perfect balance of studying classes abroad as well as being immersed into the Italian culture and given opportunities to travel the country. I have really enjoyed this experience and would definitely recommend it to any college student.
I wish I could’ve stayed longer
June 15, 2022by: Sofia Wernyj - United StatesI am almost completely finished with my study abroad program at JCU and I have loved every moment of it so far. All of the instructors I have met are incredible and the peer mentors provide the support I needed for navigating a new culture and new city.
A good experience
June 15, 2022by: Emily Stec - United StatesJohn Cabot is in a good location in Rome. I was able to walk to all of the attractions in the city easily as well as get to the train station for weekend trips. I also loved the food options by campus. The only downside was the distance from the trastevere apartments from the campus and how it didn’t have air conditioning or fans for the summer heat. Overall, I have enjoyed my class and recommend this program.
A big learning experience
June 15, 2022by: Sarah Watson - United StatesI’ve learned that there are aspects different between Italy and the US that I didn’t expect. I knew there were cultural differences, but the organization system at JCU is much different from schools in the US. Overall, I felt less informed. For example, I didn’t realize that I would not be able to use my JCU email as an email account and I spent a lot of time panicking because I couldn’t set it up. I do love that JCU makes an effort to immerse you in Italian culture, however. The school trips are amazing! I learned so much and wish I could’ve done more.
Great time.
June 15, 2022by: Trevor Klatt - United StatesVery good time and a great experience. I really will miss Italy and I think that after this I will come back. I am glad for everything that happened and I hope to share my experiences with everyone. I think that my favorite part was living so close to the city and being in the culture.
Best 6 weeks of my life
June 15, 2022by: Katie Kramer - United StatesThis summer has been one of the best experiences of my life! I got to explore a different country with my best friends and take classes that I wouldn’t be able to at my own school! I have learned a lot about myself and different cultures while being here. I will cherish this experience forever!
So fun!
June 15, 2022by: Madison Day - United StatesTrastevere is such an amazing place to be! You are close to restaurants, shops, night life, and a bunch of other students. Rome is really easy to get around and travel to other places in Italy. My class is on site and it is so fun and educational to take class at the site you are talking about.
Good times
June 15, 2022by: Victoria Hardt - United StatesI had a great time abroad. JCU is very organized and fun! Academics are first. And the dining hall food is great for lunch! I have really enjoyed myself this summer session. The only thing that sucked was the orientation stuff. Other than that I have had fun.
Second time at John Cabot!
June 15, 2022by: Lillian Baker - United StatesI studied at JCU in the beginning of 2020 and was sent home because of the COVID-19 pandemic. I returned during the summer of 2022 to sort of finish what I started. JCU has a great location in the very center of Rome. Most of Rome’s major monuments are within a 30 minute walk of the campuses. 2 of the apartment complexes are also in very convenient locations. I am currently in the Lungara apartments which is right across the street from the Guarini campus. Overall, I have had a great experience. Before I got here, it was very difficult to find an address for the Lungara apartment building though. Additionally, I arrived late because of travel and did not go through orientation because I have studied here before. I communicated this to housing and the orientation team, however both departments took multiple days to respond and I received different information from each. Information regarding check in and an orientation schedule was not adequately communicated prior to our arrival in Rome. Additionally we received very short notice when maintenance would be entering our apartments. Academic have been good overall, though I think class schedules need to be amended more for the shorter semester. We had 4 exams in 5 weeks in one of my classes which seemed excessive and unnecessary. I love sitting on the terrace at Guarini to study and do homework. I am also very glad to see that the wifi across all JCU buildings has improved significantly since I was here in 2020. I have overall had a great experience in Rome and definitely recommend JCU to English speaking students who want to study in Italy!
Learned so much
June 15, 2022by: Madison VanDress - UruguayBeing in Italy was such a learning experience for me and I grew so much as a person being here. I learned a lot of the culture, food, the people that live here. I also learned some Italian so I could speak to everyone here. I loved being able to be here because my dads side of the family is all Italian and I had never been here before and it was such a cool and fun experience being able to see all what my dads grandparent grew up with. I took a religion class here and learned all about the popes in Rome and it was really cool learning about this because I wouldn’t have thought to take this course in America but taking it here in Italy was the best decision ever. I also took a drawing class and went to a lot of different places to draw and it was so cool being able to go to these places because I wouldn’t have known some of the places were a thing if it hadn’t been for this course. Overall my time in rome has been great and I am so incredibly lucky I was able to come here for the summer and experience such a fun thing.
I had so much fun and made so many friends
June 15, 2022by: Bailey Purkey - United StatesIt was awesome. I met so many people through the SAI program. In my classes I am learning so much and have met people through that as well. I have gotten to travel to the Amalfi Coast, Milan, Venice and Tuscany this weekend. I am so great up for this experience and I owe it all to John Cabot and the SAI program.
I had a great time!
June 15, 2022by: Sophia Campos - United StatesI loved my time at John Cabot! I made so many wonderful friends and loved my classes! I was able to learn so many things, learn about the Italian culture, and immersed myself into my classes! My classes tied into the Italian culture, so it was easy to surround myself with so many great things!
I had so much fun!
June 15, 2022by: Megan Gass - United StatesJohn Cabot was amazing and helped with anything. I loved it and had so much fun. I love it here and I think that anyone wanting to study abroad would have so much fun. The school is amazing with any help you need and their are a lot of ways to meet people and the school also has trips you can attend if wanted.
Grateful!
June 15, 2022by: Michelle Delbrey - United StatesI truly felt like an Italian student being so immersed in the culture. The JCU athletics trips were amazing opportunities to meet some awesome people and see different parts of Italy. I am so grateful for this experience.
A lot of work In a little time
June 15, 2022by: Jonathan Kanarek - United StatesMy study abroad was somewhat hindered by the fact that I spent most of it just doing class and then homework for the rest of the day after class. Housing situation was not explained or done well, and there are other small things that were not done in the best way in my opinion. Getting here was the most difficult part, as there was little to no communication prior to arriving in rome.
Studying abroad
June 15, 2022by: Madeline Eller - United StatesMy biggest issue for studying abroad here is the class selection for Summer II is very limited, especially for engineering. I wish Summer II had more students and classes, especially considering I think Summer I had too many students. I definitely think JCU tried as hard as they could to orient us culturally and instructionally.
John Cabot University: An amazing experience!
June 15, 2022by: Bryce Clark - United StatesI had a great time at JCU! John Cabot adequately prepared me for studying abroad in Rome. We had a lot of pre orientation things to review. They gave a lot of safety and packing tips. Everyone was very friendly who works at JCU and I made a lot of connections. My classes were challenging yet informative.
The Roman experience
June 15, 2022by: Gabrielle peltier - United StatesJohn Cabot sits right along the Tiber river just steps from the engaging streets of Tresavere! This area offer tons of cool attractions, food, places to take photos, and enjoy some gelato with good friends and new friends. Also, the bus runs by very often that conveniently takes you to nearby attractions.
A great time abroad!
May 06, 2022by: Kate Elliott - United StatesMy time at John Cabot university was one that was filled with great teachers and lots of learning. I loved the three campuses but guarini was probably my favorite. I really appreciated the vegan options in the Tiber cafe and would often visit to grab breakfast or lunch! I especially loved my curating museums and galleries class as it was very informative and interactive and gave me skills that I’m certain I will use in the future. The campuses are a place I always felt safe and welcome as the check in process was very extensive and the people at the doors were always kind enough to say hello and goodbye. I really enjoyed my time here and would highly recommend this university to anyone studying abroad in Rome!
Loved studying abroad in Rome
May 06, 2022by: Audrey Ranek - United StatesRome is such a great city to study abroad in! I originally wanted Florence but my school only had programs offered in rome so I decided to attend JCU! Rome has so many things to do and is so central to Europe. It has great history and hidden gems and I always found something new. My experience with JCU class is that they offer a big variety. However, not all the teachers are equal. Some professors were more helpful and encouraging than others.
Do it!!
May 06, 2022by: Lucy Collins - United StatesStudying abroad is a wonderful experience and John Cabot made it even better than I imagined! I feel like I’ve grown a lot since I first arrived here and Rome and am a better person for it! John Cabot made the transition easy and I was always excited to go to class.
I loved loved my time abroad
May 06, 2022by: Sophie Rofidal - United StatesBest semester ever!!! The abroad experience fantastic and I had a great time in Trastevere as people from all around the world. I love it here!
A semester to remember
May 06, 2022by: Samuel Berkman - United StatesFrom Day 1, I knew I made the right decision to come to John Cabot University. Going abroad is a very scary thought, but they made it feel like home, and it’s a very loving community here. They really emphasize putting students out of their comfort zone, organizing activities, having interesting classes about Rome and Italian culture, and overall they want to make you feel like you belong here.
Best semester ever!
May 06, 2022by: Lindsey Anderson - United StatesThis semester was seriously the best semester of my life. I have never been happier and have loved my time at John Cabot University. The neighborhood of Trastevere and where I lived in lungara was absolutely perfect.
Take the leap, study abroad!
May 05, 2022by: Bailey Carew - United StatesStudying abroad is such an amazing once in a lifetime experience. I was not sure if i was going to do it, but i am so glad i did. John Cabot provided many different experiences to help students interact with one another & immerse themselves in the local culture. This helped to make the transition into the semester a lot more smooth. I’d definitely recommend if you have the chance!
Great experience abroad!
May 05, 2022by: emma culhane - United StatesI had a great time abroad! The campus was very clean, and the professors were kind. COVID put a damper on things and was frustrating, but handled to the best of the school’s ability I believe. I enjoyed being with other students from around the world, and I loved how we got Friday’s off which helped with traveling over the semester.
Best Semester!
May 05, 2022by: Kirra Fazio - United StatesI loved studying abroad in Rome. John Cabot is located in the best area. I loved Trastevere so much. There was so much to do and see. The housing was also in a great location. It was only about a 5 minute walk to the classrooms which was so convenient. John Cabot gave me an amazing study abroad experience.
JCU Spring 2022
May 05, 2022by: Lillie Deprez - United StatesI absolutely loved everything about John Cabot University. It was an amazing experience, educational and personal. The tiber cafe has a great variety of food for everyone wants. From personal experience with other dining hall food, tiber has many more options and the food is much better quality.
I love Rome
May 05, 2022by: Sophia Boubli - United StatesI loved the city!!! Classes were hard and housing was small. People were very nice and the food is good! I am glad I studied abroad here and I loved the fridays with out classes. I would recommend to come to Rome as the city as great. School could have been better, but I had an amazing time anyways.
Amazing!!
May 05, 2022by: Cidney Isaac - United StatesThe people here are amazing and the study abroad experience was out of those world. The food was so delicious, especially the bagels. :) If you come down here, do don’t forget to STUDY! It’s an amazing time, but prioritize your work.

Life-changing!
May 05, 2022by: Justine Chen - United StatesAbsolutely changed my life studying in Italy. JCU has the perfect location in Trastevere, and professors are understanding of the current circumstances as well as students’ desires to learn about the culture not just the classroom.
Out of my comfort zone
May 05, 2022by: Stephania Leguizamon - United StatesI left my comfort zone in the US, and finally moved out my parents house to pursue my degree at JCU. I’m glad I did it! The whole experience was something that has shaped my life forever. So grateful for this school
I loved it!
May 05, 2022by: Melissa Ordonez - United StatesThis was one of the best experiences. It taught me so much and I had the opportunity to travel to many places within Italy and across Europe. I made several new friends and really immersed myself into the Italian culture. Because of study abroad, I am considering studying abroad for my last semester and possibly moving to Europe for my full time job.
Loved study abroad, but not JCU
May 05, 2022by: Haley Freeney - United StatesI loved my study abroad experience, but JCU’s administration hindered it. Here’s why: 1. Students could not enter each other’s apartments if they lived in different buildings. This made it difficult to meet for class projects, studying, and hanging out. 2. The library was supposed to close at 2AM during finals, but I got kicked out at 1:38AM. I did not appreciate that or I the rude delivery from the librarian.
Best semester!
May 05, 2022by: Claire Kehoe - United StatesStudy abroad has been one of the best semesters of my life! I’ve never had so many new experiences in such a short time in my life. Before this I had never been out of the country before I came abroad and I was extremely nervous to travel and leave my routine. Being able to come to a university with structure and go to class was very comforting and made my transition a lot easier. I was so glad to not only be able to explore Italy but also all of Europe! I meet so many peers with different backgrounds that have helped me expand my general perspective and get outside of my comfort zone.
Great location
May 05, 2022by: Savanna Simmank - United StatesJoh Cabot Univeristy is located in Trastevere, a great part of Rome. I enjoyed the neighborhood. There is lots to do. There are trips for students to go on. I enjoyed my time and know others would too!

Study abroad
May 05, 2022by: Sophia Hein - United StatesI really liked the experience. I met lots of new people and engaged in new activities. Studying in a different country with professors of different origin opened new perspectives and insight.
Best experience of my life
May 05, 2022by: Maira Cardillo - ItalyJohn Cabot University has been one of the best experiences of my life.
My time at JCU!
May 04, 2022by: Ashley Talla - United StatesI had a great time at John Cabot University. I love that the campus is located the heart of Rome. It was so much fun exploring the city , especially the neighborhood of Trastevere. I also found myself very safe on campus due to the presence of 24/7 security guards. I enjoyed all of my classes. They were all interesting and I was fortunate to have passionate professors. JCU provided numerous opportunities to get involved with planned fun activities. Overall, I met wonderful people at JCU and will never forget my experience! Yes
Spring in Rome
May 04, 2022by: Elyssa Volk - United StatesSpending the semester abroad in JCU was the best decision of my life! the classes were organized well, and my professors would answer their email accounts quickly. Campus was easy to get around and all of the helpers at the beginning of the semester really assisted in finding my way around Trastevere. I would highly recommend
Best semester in college!!
May 03, 2022by: Adam Giardina - United StatesI was not sure what to expect when studying abroad but it is safe to say that this has exceeded all of my expectations! I have had an amazing time with my new friends being able to live in one of the greatest cities on earth. All of my professors were very knowledgeable and impressive in their fields and had amazing classes. I highly recommend this to everyone who is looking for a study abroad program.
Rome in the Spring
May 03, 2022by: Samantha Geltz - United StatesStudying at John Cabot University has been a an opportunity of a lifetime and has taught me many life lessons. As a 21 year old American student studying abroad was a little intimidating at first and especially a country where English is not the first language. Though John Cabot made the transition into a different country so much easier. John Cabot has helped introduce me to many people around me and helped my experience into Rome much easier.

Loved JCU
May 03, 2022by: Mackenzie Johnson - United StatesI enjoyed JCU a lot. They do a great job of helping you. The professors are really good! The on site classes are my favorite because you get to explore the city and learn from a professor. Rome is such a fun city to live in and easy to travel from. It is kind of cold here the first half of the spring semester but loved it after that.
Amazing experience
May 03, 2022by: Emily Whitenight - United StatesI absolutely loved studying abroad here at John Cabot. Academics were tough but so are other universities! The best semester!
May 03, 2022by: Dana Schaich - United StatesI had the best time while being able to have credits transfer back over to my home university easily! JCU allowed my to spend my semester abroad in rome which was irreplaceable. Definitely a large portion of students are study abroad, but it is very easy to meet students from other countries around campus and just by interacting with other colleges around Rome in general. Very comfortable living situations and a great dining hall!
A whole new world
May 03, 2022by: Connor O'Brien - United StatesComing abroad was something I have always wanted to do. I have never known what another culture was like besides the American culture. Learning about Italy, tasting their food, and learning the language was one of the best experiences I have ever had. I truly enjoyed being here and spending the 4 months learning while in a whole different country across the world. Something I will always remember for the rest of my life and I highly recommend for anyone that is on the fence of studying abroad.

Such an international community
April 29, 2022by: Bersabeh Mergia - EthiopiaAs an international student from Ethiopia, coming to study in Rome, a completely new environment was of course a struggle at first. The strong international community here at JCU however had made it incredible easy to adjust and get into the rhythm of the Roman life. This community has made me feel not only accepted and a part of it but has made me feel safe in so many ways and continues on making my time here even more fulfilling
I loved my time in Rome!
April 29, 2022by: Tyler Demers - United StatesMy time in Rome has been amazing . John Cabot helped facilitate that. It was interesting to see how an American University in Rome differs from an American University in America. John Cabot helped me meet a lot of friends both American and European. I enjoyed my Italian class a great deal. It has inspired me to continue learning the Italian langauage and culture. I also love the neighborhood that John Cabot is in. It is very personal and home feel.

April 29, 2022by: Rachel Halbert - United StatesJCU is such an amazing choice if you’re looking for a place to study abroad. The teachers are great and understanding. I love the campus, as it’s integrated into the Trastevere neighborhood. The cafeteria food is alway good but there’s always many restaurants to eat at too. They have lots of ways to get involved and cool excursions that are decently priced. I loved my experience it!
A great way to see Europe
April 29, 2022by: Clayton Sapp - United StatesJohn Cabot is offers a great way to travel around Europe for a semester. The academics will likely be more relaxed that if your home institution and you will have Fridays off of school giving you the opportunity to see europe. You don’t get the local immersion you might get through other programs, but this has its bright sides. Because your around American students planning trips is super easy and fun!
Unbelievable experience
April 29, 2022by: Gabi Shipman - United StatesIt was a different experience in many ways. I loved that I got to experience living and learning in Rome. I had so much fun getting to know new people and learning new things and ways of living. It was an unbelievable experience!

April 29, 2022by: Elizabeth Schirger - United StatesStudying abroad has been a great experience that I will always remember. I have learned so much in so many ways that I would never have been able to learn and experience in America. These experiences will last a life time and I will tell stories for a long time to come.
Best experience of my life!
April 29, 2022by: Samantha Jennings - United StatesI had an amazing time studying abroad at John Cabot University in Rome! The location of the school is in the heart of the city in the Trastevere neighborhood and it is positioned close to the Tiber River. It was wonderful to be immersed in the Italian culture while still being able to relate to some aspects of home! Everyone at the University is so kind and accommodating and I learned so much from my classes. Overall, my experience at JCU is one I will never forget and always reminisce about!!
Rome study abroad
April 29, 2022by: Riley Kostic - United StatesI am so happy that I chose to come to Rome and study at JCU. I experienced so much thanks to the university being in the heart of Rome. I learned many things culturally, and academically that I would never have known if I didn’t take the chance and study abroad. I would recommend this program to anyone who wants to step out of their comfort zone and enjoy all that Rome has to offer. Rome will always have a piece of my heart and I can’t wait to come back!
Study abroad here!!
April 29, 2022by: Hannah Kaczor - United StatesI loved my time at JCU and Rome. After my first plan falling through I was not as excited to go to Rome but as soon as I stepped foot at JCU my mind was completely changed. I definitely recommend it! The classes were enjoyable, the professors absolutely wonderful, you get to live in authentic Italian apartments and make so many amazing and life-changing memories!
Fun time in Rome!
April 28, 2022by: Caroline Thibault - United StatesI had a great time studying abroad at John Cabot. It was a fun experience where I made good friends and had lots of free time to explore Rome. The classes were not very difficult or stressful, quite easy. The campus is nice, there is a really beautiful library and nice terraces and courtyards to study. The location in Rome is fantastic, right near the river in Trastevere, so close to the heart of Rome. The faculty and staff are very nice. My professors were good. The dorms are okay. Nice student body, lots of study abroad students. I had an overall good experience!
An American experience in the middle of Rome

Best decision I have ever made!
April 28, 2022by: Jared Lemke - United StatesJCU is a terrific school environment. I had the time of my life. The teachers are very caring and passionate about their job. The housing set up is second to none. JCU has great accommodations for the students. They do a terrific job making you feel comfortable the moment you arrive on campus. The walking tour of Italy was very helpful and learning the best ways to use public transportation was a vital element to my time here . Overall it was a fantastic experience
So much fun

Best experience in Rome
April 28, 2022by: Paolo Biondo - ItalyA great environment to learn; I really appreciated to be surrounded by people of more than 70 countries of the world. Small classes in which people can have direct debate with other students and professor. If you are a startupper, they help you with your startup.

April 28, 2022by: alexandra karos - United StatesAcademics are hard but studying in rome has been the best experience ever! Profs were great. I did independent housing and lived 15 minute walk from school Campus is in THE BEST area in rome hands down, you cant compare
Welcome to JCU
April 28, 2022by: Camilla Ciallella - ItalySince I entered John Cabot in the fall of 2020, my experience in its overall was more than positive. During my first semester, I attended the Enlus program, which was difficult but at the same time helped me a lot with my academic English, most of all because I am a non-native speaker. Then, in spring '21, I started my courses. Professors are outstanding, especially the ones teaching politics, and a few of them instilled in me a strong passion for their subjects and changed forever my life and view. Another thing I like about JCU is the environment: here, I have always felt safe, motivated, and free to express myself in all aspects; not to mention the innumerate advantages of studying in an international environment and staying in contact every day with people from all over the world. In conclusion, I would recommend JCU.
Amazing experience!
April 28, 2022by: Francesca Papalia - ItalyJohn Cabot is an Amazing university where there are students from all around the world. I love the fact that classes are small and every students has the opportunity to create a personal relationship with every Professor. Professors are well prepared and most of them are interested in getting to know students and make us feel comfortable
A dream come true
April 28, 2022by: Giordana Paternò - ItalyThe JCU environment is amazing, everyone is so friendly. There is the most beautiful international community. I had always dreamed about having friends from all over the word, and thanks to JCU it is becoming true. The campus is beautiful, nobody studies at home, we all hang out in the courtyard, terraces, library and study rooms. I feel like I am at home.
My Rome experience
April 28, 2022by: Erin Oneill - United StatesI loved John Cabot. It is in a good location. It is is Rome. Classes are very smart and good discussion with teachers. The campus is beautiful. One thing I like is the new friends I made. They are from all over the world.
Growth
April 28, 2022by: Violeta Nanutti - United StatesJCU has allowed me to grow as an individual. The experience is very different compared to the US, it is more professional. I have matured mentally as an adult, focusing on my living and educational level at the same time in a foreign country.
Best experience ever!
April 28, 2022by: Caroline Trukenbrod - United StatesJohn Cabot is located in the town of Trastevere. You are immersed in the Rome culture. I have learned so much while studying abroad and got to meet the greatest people. I would recommend John Cabot university to anyone who is considering studying abroad. Best experience ever!
Best and most challenging 4 years of my life
April 28, 2022by: Milena Chmielarczyk - PolandI loved studying at John Cabot, I’ve made so many international friends for life. I immersed myself in Italian culture to a point in which I decided to further my education in Italy. The classes and professors were always great and interesting. I’ve learned a lot.
It was the best choice!
April 28, 2022by: Barbara Campesi - ItalyJohn Cabot University feels like home! The community is strong. Classes are fun, and there are a lot of spots around campus to eat, study, relax and play! It’s the perfect combo between study and home!!
I loved the people I met but JCU was mid
April 28, 2022by: Nicole Kraemer - United StatesThe people, traveling, and being in Rome was great but the classes and administration could have been better. I appreciated that course work was not very rigorous so I was not stressed when traveling on the weekends.
Great for study abroad, not the best for classes
April 28, 2022by: Tessa Thompson - United StatesJohn Cabot University is a lovely university in the heart of Trastevere. If I were to guess I would say about 90% of the students at any given time are study abroad students who are only at JCU temporarily. Which is a strange environment both socially and academically. This leads students to not really take courses seriously, and professors either. The courses that I did take were not well thought out, with professors just winging it adding random assignments last minute such as large papers that were not listed on the syllabus.
Loved it!
April 28, 2022by: Rhianna Barry - United StatesI really liked studying abroad here, however the classes were a bit harder than I expected. I don’t know if it’s because I was focused on traveling or what, but it is not what I expected! Other than that, I really enjoyed my professors and my classes here. I also liked how the campus is integrated in the city.
Best part of Rome!
April 28, 2022by: Alec Weber - United StatesStudying abroad at John Cabot University was the best decision I could have made this semester. By studying at JCU I made so many new friends, from the US, Italy and more! JCU’s campus (and housing) is in Trastevere, by far Rome’s coolest neighborhood - meaning the environment is electric from the moment you wake up til the evening’s latest hours. The American style education means the program won’t be too much of an academic shock, and Rome’s central location in Italy and Europe means it is a perfect spot if you wish to travel from here as well. Ciao!
Studying abroad: core memory
April 28, 2022by: Jean Lee - United StatesStudying abroad has been a surreal experience that I’m super grateful for. The learning goes far beyond the classroom while living in a whole new country. From the fashion to the food to the friends I’ve made abroad has given me an opportunity to immerse myself into a whole new environment. Seeing what other cultures prioritize and value gives you a whole new perspective on life and opens While I’ve definitely had a few downfalls and inconvenient events happen here, I’m growing from them and learning how to adapt to difficult situations. Traveling around as a student is a once in a life time experience and I am so glad I decided to take the journey.
Cultural and academic experience
April 28, 2022by: Nicholas Modlin - United StatesI spent two years living in Rome, learning about the city, and experiencing it (largely with a running group) and loved it immensely! John Cabot University was fantastic in facilitating this experience and offering new opportunities. Through the university, I was introduced to community members who I could explore the area with and live the most interesting parts of Rome. Of course, this is in addition to a well-experienced and professional faculty. I went through the business program at John Cabot and learned everything and more than what I was hoping from a selection of professionals with experience in international law, startups, and large corporations. The university is very well connected and utilizes their resources to create a worthwhile experience.
An amazing experience
April 28, 2022by: Noam Yawetz - IsraelI transferred to Rome from Israel, and I'm a degree seeker; my major is business administration. I am finishing my first year at university, and I'm pleased about the decision that I took to study in Rome. The city, the university, and the social life here are what make the experience here to be excellent.
Best semester ever
April 28, 2022by: Allie Ritchie - United StatesJCU has given me the best semester ever! The living situation was great and the location was perfect. My only complaints are the wifi going out / not working a lot and my MGT professor. I will definitely recommend studying abroad to everyone. I will never forget this semester.
JCU was very communicative
April 28, 2022by: Ann Scott - United StatesJCU was very communicative and made the study abroad process super easy. It is located in such a fun neighborhood walking distance from everything you could need. It was the perfect spot to call home while abroad!
The best school ever!
April 28, 2022by: Bianca Rinchiuso - United StatesJCU has been a wonderful experience and I encourage everyone to come here to open their mind to all of the opportunities that rome and JCU has to offer. The food, the people, and housing situations have given me ample time to walk around and explore.
They made me feel very immersed in the Italian culture
April 28, 2022by: Gabriel Lyond - United StatesI had a great time at JCU. They made me feel very immersed in the Italian culture, while answering all my questions. I met lots of people from the US and from abroad, helping me make a diverse friend group.
Best semester of college
April 28, 2022by: Charlie Meier - United StatesJohn Cabot provided an amazing study abroad experience. All of my professors were very experienced and knowledgeable about there’s fields. I thoroughly enjoyed class here. The school is in the perfect location and makes the city extremely walkable. Housing and food accommodations were great. Housing was new and updated and there was a large selection of quality food.
Truly the best experience of my life
April 28, 2022by: Sidney Johnson - United StatesStudying abroad was something I always wanted to do and it wouldn’t have been possible without JCU. All of the teachers I had work in the real world too and bring all of their experiences to the curriculum. The students are from all over making this experience even better. I’ve meet so many new people and professors. I’ve been able to manage school with traveling all over the world. This semester has been amazing at JCU!!
Study abroad!
April 28, 2022by: Gabrielle Bogataj - United StatesI loved being a JCU student. I had so much fun and met so many new people. Trastevere is a great and safe neighborhood. My professors were very informative and helpful. The day trips through jcu are also very immersive.
Had a totally different awesome time here! :)
April 28, 2022by: Riley Gates - United StatesHad a totally different awesome time here! couldn't have asked for more on my first semester abroad. was nervous at first but the location, the food, the people were all so perfect I didn't have any need for worry. JCU plans many awesome trips you can join so that you can travel the entire county with ease. The dining hall is awesome and has saved me lots of time. Living here is so nice and everyone is kind and welcoming.
Great experience
April 27, 2022by: Lily Norris - United StatesI think this is an amazing opportunity and I really enjoyed my time. Rome is the perfect city to study abroad in and jcu is in the Perfect location. The school has a great campus with places outside, inside and decent size classes. The transition was easy, as it is an American styled college so the workload is similar. I think some classes should have pass fail options or the withdrawal date should be moved back
JCU changed my life
April 27, 2022by: Luca Rubertà - ItalyJCU really change my life. this is my second semester but I have already met many people from all over Italy and from all over the world. I live in ostia and to get to trastevere every morning I travel 1 hour, but it's worth it. my favorite campus is the Tiber where I spend every free time.
Living in Rome!
April 27, 2022by: Natalia Medero - MexicoMy experience in John Cabot University has been fully enriching. I’ve met the brightest art history professors that had inspired me and reinforced my passion for my major. Equally important, I’ve gained independence skills while living abroad and have met a nice friend group from my home country and others.
I'm so glad I had this experience
April 27, 2022by: Natalie Sasscer - United StatesI have always wanted to study abroad and getting to do it in Rome was a dream! I made tons of friends and saw lots of great things. I traveled until I dropped and saw a lot of different parts of italy. The people at John Cabot are wonderful and they want to help make your transition as nice as possible. I took many trips with the student services office all around italy and I had a wonderful time. Everything is well organized and they handle everything you just have to pay them and it's reasonable! You get great guides and a very authentic experience if you come to John Cabot I would highly recommend. John Cabot is situated in a great spot in Rome away from the bustling inner city but close enough to get to all the main attractions. Trastevere is a wonderful and quiet neighborhood where John Cabot is located. I would highly recommend this program!
Amazing experience
April 27, 2022by: Anna Ritzer - United StatesJohn Cabot University is great! One huge benefit of studying here is that everyone speaks English and there is little to no language barrier in Rome. Having 24/7 security in housing is really nice to have in a big city and they are always there to help you if you need it. The gianicolo residence is very nice and if you have any issues the maintenance crew responds very quickly. One of the things I loved about here is being able to go on the trip through JCU. Overall great place to go abroad!
A great experience!
April 27, 2022by: Dominique Devani - United StatesJohn Cabot is a smaller school than many other institutions with only a few buildings but it is in a central location in Rome which is very nice when you are studying abroad and want to experience the city. The school is definitely not as easy as some study abroad students might expect but as long as you have a good school-life balance it is manageable. There is a lot of international faculty which gives your learning a unique viewpoint. I'll always look back on this experience fondly!
Once in a lifetime!
April 27, 2022by: Lianna Pedre - United StatesI really enjoyed my time at John Cabot! As a business student I really enjoyed the group projects and emphasis on real life scenarios. The professors and staff are really cool and are always willing to be there for you. It’s a comfortable environment in Rome. I will forever cherish my time spent at the university and in Rome!
My new Rome home!
April 27, 2022by: Sydney Luning - United StatesJCU is a beautiful campus in a lovely area of Rome! It is right next to amazing cafes and a lively nightlife which was perfect for late night classes. The library, gym, and counseling services are amazing resources to take advantage of. Unfortunately, the academics are super difficult. Many teachers grade on an Italian scale and grades are only comprised of 2 test grades... making it hard to succeed. However, I did take some super interesting classes! The professors are super knowledgeable about the topics they are discussing. The Italian students also did not want anything to do with the study abroad students, also making it difficult to make friends outside of people you already know. If you didn't come with friends from your old school, it can be very isolating! I am forever grateful for my time at JCU and adore Rome all in the same, I still had an amazing time and learned and grew a lot!
Gratitude and memory filled experience
April 27, 2022by: Caila Jefferson - United StatesI am so appreciative of this experience studying abroad at John Cabot. I was challenged in so many ways, from learning a vast amount about the art world and artistic practices in my classes to seeing all the beautiful art around me in location and people. Though it was difficult to feel a real part of this community, experiencing this culture, language, place and people has been a gift and has taught me so much about myself and who I am becoming and I leave filled with gratitude.
Great experience!
April 27, 2022by: Olivia Busk - United StatesJohn Cabot is a fantastic university that allows students to ease into the Italian lifestyle. But there is still a good balance between going to an American University and living in Italy. I have made great friends and even greater memories! The staff and professors at JCU were always willing to listen and help. I’ll miss being here AMD Trastevere will always hold a special place in my heart!
Better than I hoped
April 27, 2022by: Malia Sanchez - United StatesJohn Cabot University provides students with an interesting cultural opportunity by allowing them to interact with the diverse group of students whilst living abroad. It also allows students to explore the Eternal City whilst earning academic credits through on-site class programmes. There is truly no better place to learn a history degree if you're working for an American accredited university abroad.
Great four years!
April 27, 2022by: Abdulfatah Alfandi - LibyaI am a full-time degree seeker majoring in International Business. Throughout my time at JCU, I was privileged to be nurtured by highly educated professors, socialise with students from all over the world, and gain professional working experience. JCU is an environment that lowers barriers to education. Almost 85% of students have a form of financial support, including myself (scholarships, grants, and discounts). Three things I will remember about my time at JCU: 1. My RA job experience 2. The student clubs 3. Friendly and supportive professors and staff
Couldn't choose better
April 26, 2022by: Maira Cardillo - ItalyJohn Cabot University has been one of the best experiences of my life.
Study abroad
April 26, 2022by: Sean Greenfield - United StatesGreat school in the heart of rome. Recommend it to anyone that wants to study in Italy. Easy accessibility to anything in Rome including all the main monuments. The teacher and staff are helpful and make sure you get the right experience
Best time of my life’
April 26, 2022by: Lily Tierney - United StatesMet so many amazing people and went on lots of trips. Experience I won’t forget. I would 100% recommend this experience to other people. Being involved with the community and immersing myself in a different culture was the experience of a lifetime.
Had a great semester!
April 26, 2022by: Dylan Judge - United StatesLiving in rome is so much fun. Would definitely reckoned JCU as the place to go abroad. Living in Rome you can see so much and eat the best food. Trastevere is a great neighborhood with tons of restaurants and cafes that line the cobblestoned streets.
Opens the door
April 26, 2022by: Sadie Dunham - United StatesThis school opens the doors to many amazing experiences. I don't regret going to Europe to study. It allows you to meet friends and connections from around the world. It is a different experience than studying in the United States and teaches you how to be more independent in yourself, and also in the world.
Worth it!
April 26, 2022by: Sina Salerno - United StatesJohn Cabot is very different from the typical American university experience! Especially coming from the United States, there are many culture shocks and interesting interactions to be had. Studying at a university with an international population opens your mind to different cultures and languages in a way studying in United States cannot. I highly recommend John Cabot to anybody who is incredibly independent and willing to take their education and living conditions into their own hands. Going abroad for more than one semester isn’t easy, but it is absolutely worth it.
Great learning experience
April 26, 2022by: Anneliese Gil - United StatesI loved being in Rome. Definitely struggled a few times. Wish there were more programs to bring students together such as a welcome week or something but overall best time! struggled with some housing issues with ex-roommates but other than that, loved all my professors and how they didn’t discriminate the study abroad students.
Immersive and exciting :)
April 26, 2022by: Isabella Ruiter - United StatesAs the semester is coming to a very quick closing, I have to say that my experience as a study abroad student here has been incredibly valuable. JCU gives their students a lot of opportunities to connect with others through clubs and events as well as keeps their students up to date with world news which is much appreciated when you're in the small world of university studies. The professors have brought new perspectives to my academic experience and given me guidance in how and what I want to do with my future! I really love the friendships I've made in this unique adventure and would recommend JCU to anyone who is studying abroad and wants to have a comforting space when you're so far away from home. :)
Fun
April 26, 2022by: Hanna Radewahn - United StatesI had a really fun experience abroad. It was awesome to experience Italian culture but also be able to travel to surrounding countries. My favorite part of the semester was spring break where I was able to travel to 3 different countries.
Incredible option to study abroad!
January 26, 2022by: Jason Rizzuto - United StatesSo far, I have had nothing but great experiences here at John Cabot. The classes are challenging, but manageable, which allows you to explore the beautiful location that it is in. Whether you want to walk around the neighborhood of Trastevere, or cross the bridge and enter the center of the city, you can do it all here.
Rome Italy
January 26, 2022by: Lexi Bishop - United StatesJohn Cabot made studying abroad easy, the orientation and arrival is very nicely set up and takes the confusion out of things. They bring you right to your housing. I was scared to stay in the independent apartments but it was fine. The classes are nicely set up Monday through Thursday so you have Friday free which is nice for traveling. The area is nice and you can walk almost anywhere important in the city. It is only my second week but it is already so great.
John Cabot Univeristy is great!
January 26, 2022by: Sadie Dunham - United StatesThe campuses and the dining hall really create a great atmosphere to make friends and to study. The classes make you want to continue learning. John Cabot University is a great univeristy! I can't wait to continue studying here and making more lifelong memories!
Ciao from Roma
January 26, 2022by: Rensina Salerno - United StatesJohn Cabot University is a phenomenal learning experience. You experience so many different things with people from all over the world. It really broadens your view of society and makes you open your heart and mind to the different ways of the world. The professors are typically phenomenal and the administration cares so much about the students. They offer good scholarships and compared to a traditional college or state school, are above par.
Don’t think twice, just go for it!
January 26, 2022by: Mary Curran - United StatesI was planning to finish my degree at UCLA when I learned about the Italian Studies program at JCU. After doing some research and contacting alumni, I decided that JCU would be a better fit for my future goals. I am in my second semester and can’t speak highly enough about the program. The faculty and staff have exceeded my expectations and I continue to be impressed at what this university has to offer. If you’re debating on where you should go to finish your degree, search no more. The experience you will have during your time in Rome is unparalleled. You will not only receive an exceptional education, you will have life changing experiences in the Eternal City.
A wonderful semester rich in history, good food and beautiful art
January 26, 2022by: Jasmine Schwaller - United StatesI had an absolutely wonderful semester at JCU. Set in the middle of rome it is surrounded by delicious restaurants and cafes on the way to campus from your dorm. People and community are everywhere, along with live music and beauty. The professors are very interactive and all mine were also very passionate about their topics.
Place that makes me do better
January 26, 2022by: Anastasiia Lazareva - RussiaI was really sceptical when I arrived in Italy and John Cabot specifically, but throught these two years that I am studying here, I am getting mpre and more confidence about this decision. Here I have apportunity to study what I really want to, and the professors always helpful and nice. Remembering all courses that I have done it was not only about do the exam at the end of the semester and go, but to actually learn something new and explore new opportunities of tbe field and yourself. I fell really glad studying here and having a chance to explore my interests with another students from JCU and incredible professors.
Overall a fun experience
January 26, 2022by: Julianna B - United StatesStudying so far at John Cabot has been a fun experience however there are a few things I did not like. There isn’t a lot of communication or friendships between the Americans and locals at the school and mostly keep to themselves. The overall culture in Italy is great and traveling around Europe is cool.
Once in a lifetime opportunity!
January 26, 2022by: Miranda Garcia - United StatesI’ve had the time of my life so far at John Cabot University! They make it very easy to transition from your home country to Italy. They also make it a very inclusive atmosphere with all of their diverse clubs and events. Overall, they put the needs of their students first.
Easy adjustment to a new country!
January 26, 2022by: Savannah Smallwood - United StatesJohn Cabot University made it very easy to adjust to living from the US to Italy. They were very helpful in arrival by taking us from the airport on a bus to campus, orientation activities, and guided tours around campus buildings and the city. They also have offered lots of trips, programs, and clubs for students. I also have enjoyed living in the neighborhood of Trastevere because it feels safe, the locals, restaurants and stores are very welcoming to JCU students, and there is lots to do. It is also close to any tourist spots or monuments by walking across the river, which makes accessing everything the city has to offer very easy! Also, the school offers so many unique classes that take you to important landmarks and trips which make this educational experience different than a lot of classes students could take in the US.
Best idea ever
January 26, 2022by: María Colindres - GuatemalaI was commuted on moving abroad for my university years, somewhere in Europe but that would allow me to have the advantages of the american system. Rome was the perfect place for me, not only the historical importance it has, but being able to be part of history wherever I went was what made me decide that JCU was the perfect place for me. Coming from Latinoamérica, I did not know what to expect but I have not been let down by JCU nor Rome.
Once an a lifetime experience!
January 26, 2022by: Rachel Brunet - United StatesBeing able to live in one of the most beautiful and historical cities in the world was such an amazing experience. Studying at JCU allowed me to meet so many great friends, professors and people from all over the world. Living among Italians and experiencing their culture was a very culturally embracsive time.
Leaving a dream
January 26, 2022by: Martina Espinosa - ItalySince I was a little girl I have always wanted to study in Italy and without a doubt this university is the best choice. I am absolutely in love with JCU I think it has become my happy and safe place. I have made so many friends here and my teachers are really nice too. Some thing I would improve or change is I would like to make more events for students to get to know each other!!!! But I am really happy and I love it❤️❤️❤️
I am having the most organically joyful time!
August 27, 2021by: Temashengu Litchfield-Tshabalala - South AfricaI never imagined that I could genuine joy in an educational environment, until John Cabot University (JCU). What JCU provided me was care. Education isn't just about the actual academic material it's about practice and application but moreover about the environment- is it conducive or not? JCU has cultivated a space that is warm, caring, inclusive and dedicated to improvement. That's not to say that it's this blissful utopia without flaws but it definitely comes close to perfection. I've found that I genuinely remember all that I studied and I remember the lessons I learned not just from my Professors but also my classmates. John Cabot provides a space for academic and personal growth but not in a sense that you're bombarded with it, it's not confrontational or blatant, rather it takes introspection to notice how far you've come. It's one of the most beautiful experiences I have lived and continue to live through.
I am having an organically joyful time
August 27, 2021by: Temashengu Litchfield-TshabalalaI never imagined that I could have genuine joy in an educational environment until John Cabot University (JCU).
Great study abroad experience
April 07, 2020by: Katarzyna Purzycka - United StatesOverall I really loved my study abroad experience. JCU has the best location in this adorable neighborhood called Trastevere right in the heart of Rome. The professors were great and the classes were very interesting. JCU offers a good variety of on-site classes which basically means you go on field trips with your professor around Rome every class. They also organize excursions around Italy you can sign up for. I went on one to Tuscany and really liked it. Overall, I highly recommend JCU to study abroad students.
Best choice ever!
February 25, 2020by: Daniela Bolzoni - ItalyJohn Cabot University is everything I imagined it will be and better. If I had the chance to choose again I would chose JCU all over. I like everything from the multicultural environment, to classes and professors, and all the clubs and events that we have during the year. I will admit that at first I was a little skeptical about the small-sized classes, because when I imagine American Universities I imagine enormous building and big classes. My skepticism went away after the first week of school, because the good thing about being in a small class is the fact that professors follow and care more so student are more focused and prepared. Another thing that I love about JCU is the community, I'm personally involved with a couple of JCU clubs and it's a thing that I would really recommend you to do, because learning in class is important but I feel that extra curriculum activities are important as well because you learn stuff every time and you get to meet a lot of new people everyday. Regarding academics, every professor at JCU is extremely prepared, educated and knowledgeable, so you will learn from the best in the field. Outside of JCU what can I say about Rome? other than BEAUTIFUL. You will like every corner that you turn, there a lot of amazing spots around where you can see all Rome and to be honest there are no word to describe that view, you have to experience on your own.
The best experience in my life
February 21, 2020by: Eleonora Scaiola - ItalyI am Eleonora, a Communication student at John Cabot University. I'm from Rome but every time I enter in th JCU's buildings it's like entering in another world. There's a truly international atmosphere that is exactly what entices students to travel and study at JCU. Here, we get to know and discover new cultures and traditions. JCU abounds of extracurricular activities such as Clubs, that attract students making them an active part of the student life. Last year, I joined the Fashion Club where I had the opportunity to travel around Italy to visit and get to know the brands that have made the "Made in Italy" a business model appreciated all over the world. In short, a truly unique experience for those cannot stand still. Another experience to try here at JCU is the Athletics department. You can be part of the sports teams, compete at national and international level, always travelling in the name of sport and fun. I'm grateful to be a John Cabot student, I really couldn't have made a better choice than this.
Lovin’ JCU
February 11, 2020by: Mouss Tlass - FranceWell-Rounded University with helpful professors and a diversified student body. Expect to study to avoid any surprisingly complicated assignments and you'll be fine for the academics. Academics are well balanced between courses that require a much needed level of rigor and others that do not require rigor at all. It depends on your program and bachelor. Financial Accounting is complicated while intro to Office Applications is not, for example... Studying at JCU is a personal and cultural experience. The time I've spent here in Rome has definitely been worth the money. In addition, JCU tuition is cheaper than US private school tuition fees. Life in Europe is also pretty cool from the aspect of being able to afford traveling, as its much cheaper than in any other economic region.
I honestly found the best opportunities!
February 07, 2020by: Letizia La Sorte - ItalyJohn Cabot University was the key that opened many doors such as: life experiences, internships and great friendships. I have been studying at JCU in Rome for two years now, I was born and raised in Sicily but I lived in the States for a year where I finished my high school, and right after I fell in love with the American School System, right after I decided to pursue my education in an American University and that's how I found JCU, honestly I could not have wished for something better. Thanks to the Career Service Center I got an internship at the American Embassy of Rome, which is truly changing my life, especially since my biggest dream is being a diplomat. Professors are very competent and always available for any kind of problem you might have in Rome, in your life or, of course, academically. I think I'll remember most of my lectures for life because professors at JCU have something special, they are "humans" and really get you. Moreover, John Cabot is where I met people from all over the world, that truly showed me how to look at the world from different points of view, it's great to interact with people that have very different background or stories. I could not have wished to study in any other place, if not, in the heart of Rome.
Study abroad
July 22, 2018by: Robbie Paeprer - United StatesStudying in another country was one of the greatest things I have ever done! Given the chance to study in another country was something I didn’t wanna pass up. From eating amazing food to traveling to multiple countries. It has given me memories that i will never forget.
A semester to remember
July 19, 2018by: Aly Henry - United StatesOrientation was well organized and so helpful. They clearly understand we are nervous and they ease you into everything . JCU is legit school, I genuinely learned more from my professors abroad than I did at my home school. One of my professors graduated from Brown University and another from Oxford. They really challenged me to be at my best, and let me know when I fell short. I also took the class Sketchbook Rome and honestly there is no better place to do art. I'll never forget my time in Rome and I wish I could go again.
A great semester in Rome!
July 19, 2018by: karkle - United StatesI really enjoyed my time in Rome at John Cabot University. I was able to meet students from all across the United States as well as local Italian students in all of my classes. Classes are taught in English besides any language classes. There are a ton of cute restaurants and places to grab a bite to eat on your way to class. The campus is located in a perfect location just minutes from major monuments and the heart of Rome.
An experience of a lifetime
July 19, 2018by: Jessie Snyder - United StatesMy study abroad experience at John Cabot was absolutely life changing. I didn't choose to do one semester abroad but rather the whole year, meaning I was abroad for a whole 9 months. John Cabot was I felt the perfect university for me to study abroad at. Not only did it introduce me to new challenges academically but it also allowed me to integrate into the Italian culture through social events, mixers, and helpful administrators and staff. John Cabot provided us with excellent housing in the middle of Trastevere which is the perfect location for shops, resturants, bars, and even main Roman monuments. John Cabot also provided amazing study spaces. Many days inbetween classes I would find myself doing homework at the roof of Guarini, which gave me a breathtaking view of the city. When study abroad aside from academics you are focused on traveling and gaining new expereinces as much as possible. John Cabot sets up a large amount of trips for their students to sign up for whether they be a simple cooking class in Rome to a full spring break trip. There is not a day that goes by that I don't miss Rome and the people I was able to meet through the John Cabot. It was truly life changing.
Nearly a perfect experience
July 18, 2018by: Sean Stewart - United StatesMy first semester of college I spent studying abroad here. Before coming, I was incredibly nervous about not only starting college but doing so in a country completely foreign to me. Thankfully, I spent my semester at one of the best study abroad programs in the world, introducing me to Italy while ensuring my comfort. They make transport to and from the airport a breeze, as while as all other official appointments, like permit to stay and visa acquisition. They had connections at American consulates to help expedite my visa approval. Additionally, the school cafeteria is delicious, great salad bar as while as pasta entrees. The volunteer opportunities to help at homeless shelters and refugee centers are incredible and you need to experience them on your semester to fully integrate yourself in the Rome community. The only downside of my experience was a calculus teacher who was not prepared to teach her course, but all my other professors were fantastic. I miss John Cabot and Italy more and more with each passing day.
First semester of freshman year
July 18, 2018by: firstsemester - United StatesI spent my first semester of freshman year at John Cabot University in Rome through Northeastern University’s N.U.in Program, and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The setting was so incredible, and everything that JCU provided was so helpful and comforting in the midst of such a new lifestyle. I can’t wait to go back!
Amazing
July 18, 2018by: Marisa - United StatesI studied this past summer at John Cabot. It was an unforgettable experience and easily the best summer of my life. Being able to study classes that were required for my major while living in such a historical place was amazing. One of my classes was calculus and my professor was one of the best I've ever had. The class was very small so he made sure that no one ever was left behind or confused. My class was also all Italian students except for one other person and myself, so I had the opportunity to make friends with the locals. I always felt safe because there is security at all of the university's academic and residential buildings. All in all, I would go back in a heartbeat.
Amazing semester in Rome
July 18, 2018by: Brian - United StatesWhen I first arrived in Rome, I really wasn't sure what to expect. But, after starting at John Cabot, it quickly became clear that I was in for an amazing semester. To start, JCU's location in Trastevere is perfect - it's a young, fun neighborhood full of bars, restaurants, and lots of other young people. It's also a short walk from most of the city's attractions, like the Vatican, Campo dei Fiori, and Piazza Navona. I also ended up loving my classes and professors - I spent the semester learning Italian, Roman history, and current European politics. One of my classes even met at different landmarks in the city each week! Overall, I could not have asked for a better study abroad experience. I honestly wish that I could be returning to John Cabot in the fall.
Unreal experience
July 18, 2018by: Colin Shea - United StatesI had the privilege or studying at JCU during the fall semester. I cannot express enough if you are on the fence of going, hop it and go to Rome for a semester. The people I met and the cultural experience I had are second to none. The citizens of Rome are super friendly and helpful to tourists. JCU teachers and employers try to make it a challenging but fun semester. I highly recommend studying here.
Most amazing experience of my life
July 18, 2018by: Jayhawk32 - United StatesI will cherish all my memories that I made while attending John Cabot for the rest of my life. I made life long friends, learned life long skills, and once again made incomparable memories! I would, and will, highly recommend studying abroad, not only in Italy but elsewhere, to all my friends and colleagues.
Study abroad
July 18, 2018by: Bridget - United StatesStudying abroad was one of the best decisions I have made. I decided last minute to study abroad and I have no regrets. I made lifelong friendships and now have a second place to call home. Italy is an amazing place to study with great culture, food, and experience. I ended up traveling to about 10 countries when I was there. If you're thinking about studying abroad start saving your money now, you'll need it!
Choose Rome
July 18, 2018by: Trasty - United StatesI flew out of the US for the first time in my life, landing in Rome, Italy. Being of Italian descent, I had no hesitation as to where I wanted to study abroad. However, the city and school offered much more than I expected. School is located in inarguably the best part of the whole city, Trastevere. All of the best food and culture lies on this side of the Tiber, so you will never fail to find an amazing breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Additionally, walking through the streets of Trastevere offers a fresh perspective on city life and a relaxing way to travel. On the other side of the river lies Corso, the Italian version of Rodeo Drive in Southern California. In other words, its a series of streets laid with plenty of shopping from cheaper options like Zara to the most expensive designer such as YSL and Gucci. I couldn't have asked for a better experience from JCU, other than the housing service. One time our apartment's fridge had mold and it tool them two weeks to replace it. I wouldn't have traded this experience for anything. I learned so much about myself, others, and the world that I would not have if I had not attended school here. Also, choose your teachers wisely. Mine were amazing and I struggle to find the same quality at my insitution in the US.
Spring semester abroad
July 18, 2018by: Sydney Bates - United StatesCould not have had a better semester abroad in Rome at JCU. The students, staff, and apartments we're amazing. The administration strives to make your experience as easy as possible. When you arrive they provide an extensive orientation program. The professors are experts in their field and provided me the best possible education abroad. Would highly recommend!
Worth it all
July 18, 2018by: Coolgirl821 - United StatesOverall I had some mishaps being in a new country, however, all struggles I had were worth it. The language isn't as much of an issue as people claim it to me. I had a worse time adjusting to relaxed scheduling of Europeans. They are almost accustomed to things going wrong so people are often late. No one seems to get angered as easily about messing another's routine up either. The academics could be enhanced by giving more attention to students who wish to seek it. However, a lot of this program encouraged me to get out of my comfort zone and to find my own answers.
The best time of my life
July 18, 2018by: Allison - ChileJohn Cabot University provided me with the semester of my life. Not only did I get stellar academics, but I also was immersed in the culture of Italy by meeting local students and professors. The location is amazing, in the cutest little neighbourhood. If I could go back today I would drop everything.
John Cabot study abroad spring 2018
July 18, 2018by: Noah Hutchinson - United StatesJohn Cabot is a wonderful place to spend a semester. The university and all housing options are located in Trastevere, which is one of the best neighbourhoods in Rome for young people and college students. The classes are reasonably difficult, and depending on where you choose to live, the commute to class is only 15-30 minutes (walk or take the tram). The best part of John Cabot is the fact that there are no classes on Fridays, so your weekend travel can be from Thursday night to Sunday. The entire city of Rome is completely accessible from where you'll be living. I highly recommend John Cabot.
To Rome with love
July 18, 2018by: Carly Whitman - United StatesPrior to going to Rome to study abroad I was extremely nervous. I did not know what to expect and couldn't imagine being away from home for a whole semester. But I will say that there was nothing for me to be worried about. The staff at John Cabot University were phenomenal. They made me feel safe and comfortable so far away from home. JCU added to my abroad experience and I will not forget the professors I had and the friends I made. Anyone looking to study abroad in Rome...go to JCU!!!
Rome-ing around
July 18, 2018by: Marley - United StatesDeciding to study abroad at John Cabot University in Rome, Italy was the best decision I could have made in college. I had an amazing experience at this university because of the professors, the location, and the support given to study abroad students. John Cabot is a study abroad friendly university and truly understands the students coming to study for a short period of time, in a new surrounding. I am very happy I chose to study here and would do it all over again.
Study abroad in Rome
July 18, 2018by: Ryan Q - United StatesThis semester was by far my favorite in my college career. The campus is in the best neighbourhood in Rome, being Trastevere. All of the teachers were phenomenal too and the campuses were very nice. All an all I highly recommend it.
It was the best 4 months of my life
July 18, 2018by: Ashley - United StatesI absolutely loved going to school at John Cabot. Rome itself was enough to get me to want to come here and the location of John Cabot was so perfect. The neighborhood it's situated in is much more quiet than the main tourist area and there are tons of great places for food and night life. It's within walking distance to every major monument, grocery store, and even the Vatican! The Gianicolo housing building had amazing apartments and a small gym. It was overall a great place to live. All of my professors were fantastic and passionate.
Summer in Rome
July 18, 2018by: Haley - United StatesI had the most amazing time studying at John Cabot University! I was so nervous going without knowing anybody in my program, but JCU was welcoming from the very beginning and I felt so supported throughout the entire experience!
Studying at John Cabot was great!
July 18, 2018by: Juliana - United StatesI loved studying at John Cabot! The classes were relaxed but still engaging. I loved the communication classes. I was enrolled with CEA Study Abroad which has a program that partners with John Cabot so I had the opportunity to get a little more broader experience. The campuses are easy to find are in great locations in the Trastevere district, otherwise known as the college neighborhood. There are many cafe and restaurants nearby where students hang out. It's an American university, but there are students and professors from all over the world, so it's a wonderful place to meet new people.
Study abroad
July 18, 2018by: Lauren - United StatesBest decision I made. John Cabot is the perfect environment to study abroad. I was able to feel comfortable as well as explore a new culture. The teachers and classes were all excellent and some of the best classes I have taken in college. John Cabot also helped a lot of my friends find internships while in Italy an opportunity that was completely unique to John Cabot. I would 100% choose to study abroad at John Cabot again.
Fall abroad at JCU
July 18, 2018by: Stephen - United StatesI studied abroad at JCU, and the experience was amazing. The best part of JCU is taking classes that immerse you in the history, art, and architecture of Rome. These classes are often held at a different location in the city each time they meet.
Study abroad in Rome
July 18, 2018by: Anonymous - United StatesJohn Cabot is in a good location in Trastevere. It is quite different than an American campus, but that is expected with studying in such a dense and compact city like Rome. The classes were slightly inconsistent in terms of quality, but not overly challenging or time consuming. Because of this, I was able to travel abroad almost every weekend.
John Cabot University- summer/fall study abroad
July 18, 2018by: Matthew Frattura - United StatesWhen I traveled abroad, I was only a freshman in my first semester of college. Be that as it may, I couldn't think of a better way to start my college experience than at John Cabot University! Being in Italy for four months was one of the best times in my life, and the cultural immersion and learning opportunities JCU provided me with was the driving factor. If you were to go abroad anywhere in Europe for your college experience, I would highly recommend choosing the great country of Italy and the great school of John Cabot University.
Best experience of my life
July 18, 2018by: AnSp - United StatesMy Summer semester at JCU was probably the best experience I have had in my life so far and for a while. I met and became close friends with people I never would have met, learned so much about Italian culture, but most importantly, learned a lot about myself and adjusting again/change/responsibilities/choices/and opportunities. I feel like I have matured much more from being independent in a different culture and would 100 % recommend studying abroad especially in Italy.
Best decision I've made!
March 07, 2017by: Micayla Mirabella - ItalyI am about to finish my first year at John Cabot University and I have to say that it is the best decision I've ever made! JCU is absolutely perfect for me. The professors are passionate and empathetic. The small classroom size makes me more than just a number here. I've met people from all over the world and I've had the opportunity to live in Rome, one of the most beautiful cities in the world! Having no classes on Friday makes traveling around central Europe so easy! My experience so far here has been amazing and I cannot wait to see what is in store for the future here at JCU!

American Degree in Rome
March 06, 2017by: Carly - ItalyI will graduate John Cabot University (JCU) this coming May 2017, and could not be happier with my undergrad experience. JCU is more than just a four year university, it is a tight-knit community of diverse students and staff. Due to the small class size I received incredible one on one attention from professors, which helped me to understand topics more in depth and motivate me to try my hardest. The student body is extremely diverse, I developed friendships with people from all over the world, friends who I will have for life, and that was really the best gift JCU gave me. I highly recommend anyone who is open minded and willing to immerse themselves in a new culture to do their undergrad at JCU.
Time of your life
July 02, 2016by: RaviTavi24 - United StatesStudying abroad in Italy was one of the best decisions I have ever made in my life. I met so many new people and discover more about myself. I enjoyed almost every part of my trip and experience and would encourage anyone to study abroad.
Killing two birds with one stone
April 22, 2016by: PolloProgram: Spend Your Gap Year in Rome at John Cabot University
John Cabot University is located perfectly! I like the fact that students are able to experience different places and views by just a few minutes from the university! Being at JCU is just like killing two birds with one stone: You can learn about the Italian culture being here at Rome; and get international exposure while at JCU.

International education and opportunities!
April 22, 2016by: Gillian - ItalyProgram: Spend Your Gap Year in Rome at John Cabot University
Deciding to get my undergraduate degree at John Cabot University was one of the best decisions of my life. Spending four years in Rome has taught me so much about our increasingly international world, and studying in a program I absolutely love has given me so many opportunities that I know I would not have had anywhere else.
International experience
April 21, 2016by: Amanda Uribe - ItalySpending a gap year in Rome is an incredible experience to prepare you for college. You will be able to learn a new language, make new friends, learn about other cultures and of course travel as much as you can. Having so many international friends around you, you will be able to enjoy and at the same time learn new things. John Cabot University transfers your credits to any other university you may want to go after your gap year. Choosing John Cabot University has given me so much experience, both cultural and academic. Living in Rome has brought me so many opportunities as well, making friends from all over the world and being able to have a different cultural experience. JCU offers the students an incredible experience for study abroad and degree seekers. In Rome, you are able to have the best college experience in an American with people who come all over the world and learn from many different cultures.
Amazing University
April 20, 2016by: Anastasiia - RussiaJohn Cabot University is the unique place because of its wonderful locations and international community. It is located in the heart of Italy- Rome. Students can easily reach Vatican, Pantheon, Gianicolo Hill, and other tourist attractions by walking from JCU campuses! The campuses themselves are located by the side of beautiful Tiber River. People from all over the world come here not only to get their American Bachelor degree, but also to share their culture and traditions! Studying in John Cabot University gave me a possibility not only to get my American Bachelor degree, but also to get interesting people from around the world! The classes are small, so students get to build close relationships with their classmates and professors!
Rome is Home
December 31, 2015by: Darian Gilley - WacoStudying abroad in Rome changed my life for the better. Here I met the love of my life, I gained life-long friends and we all share a special bond that few people in the world get to experience, I learned a new language, stuffed my face with some amazing food, enjoy (never) one too many glasses of wine and I wouldn't trade one day I had here for anything in the world. It inspired me to pursue my dreams of living abroad and I intend to do so in the next couple of years! Don't miss out on an experience that no one can take away from you! Love, Honorary Roman
Roma Aeterna
July 25, 2015by: Jimena G - El PasoThis study afraid program was fantastic. The classes I took were art and history courses and instead of being in a classroom, they were immersive in the city. We climbed through ruins and got special access to restricted areas in churches. We were allowed to go in crypts that tourists don't have access to. It was phenomenal. The professors were interesting and dynamic and very approachable. The facilities of the university were top notch. The library, cafeteria, classrooms, common areas and the student housing were all clean and modern and very nice. The housing was incredibly secure with 24-hour guarded key-card access in a great neighborhood. The only tiny downside to the whole thing was that the neighborhood is FULL of American students so it's a little bit more difficult to find an authentic Italian life. Everyone speaks English in the neighborhood. This does make it an easy transition and lessens the culture shock. I love culture shock though so it was not my cup of tea. That being said, the entire thing was fantastic. I fell in love with Rome and with John Cabot University.
My experience at the affiliated university
July 16, 2015by: Ladycannoli - United StatesOverall studying abroad in Italy was a once in a lifetime experience that I learned a lot from. However if I could go abroad again I would do things differently. I lived with 5 roommates who had no interest in friendship because they had all come with their friends. The academics proved to be far more difficult than my home universities academics so traveling was difficult. It was a great expense paying for food and basic necessities ( it really adds up quick). I didn't make good friends until the end of my experience. I wish I would have known at least one other person. My apartment wasn't in the best quality. ( There was a damaged couch, broken bug screen on the window, our sink flooded, the bath would drain itself and had very limited warm water and low water pressure, we had no dryer, nor did we have an iron, our fridge was very small especially for five girls, the walls were very thin and it didn't help with the noisy neighbors, the washer was very slow and ruined most of my clothes, the rooms were very plain with white walls and hardwood floors, I believe that the apartments were overpriced for the quality, The WiFi connection was absolutely awful.) Moving on the fitness center was very falsely advertised it was very small and had very few machines. Also the fitness center had odd hours and would close at random times. The library was anything but quiet. Even in the "quiet rooms" people still found it necessary to yell at the top of their lungs. While some faculty and staff were very helpful others seemed to care less and if you asked for directions they would be clueless. On the bright side traveling was generally inexpensive and shopping was affordable. Navigation was not very difficult and if you ever needed to take the bus or a taxi you never would have trouble finding one. I felt very safe and there was 24 hour security on site at the school and my apartment. The location of the university was ideal and restaurants, and attractions were close by. During my experience I was mostly a pedestrian. The fresh food market proved to be a happy and healthy choice for groceries. There were many attractions and a lively night life. My favorite part of the experience was traveling with my family for spring break. I feel that if I would have known italian previously I would have had an easier time. Language barriers can be frustrating. I dealt with some homesickness, and culture shock, however with technology I was able to stay in touch with loved ones. I also commend the universities counselors who were truly helpful individuals. Studying abroad was nothing like I expected, however I genuinely grew as a person and enjoyed the journey that took me there.
Overall Rating
June 28, 2015by: rachelvidumsky - United StatesI found that the university provided everything that I could have needed and did it in a very friendly manor. I loved being there, and I don't think there would be anything I would do differently if I were to go back again.

Studying Abroad in Rome
November 25, 2013by: Abby - RomeI am a degree seeking student at John Cabot University, studying International Business. I would highly recommend this school to anyone who is looking to enhance their educational experience. While you are here you will be fully immersed into the Italian culture, meet people from all around the world, and grow as person. You will return home with a better understanding of other cultures and an experience that will set you apart from others in the future.
John Cabot University - An adventure to experience!
November 25, 2013by: Ines B - RomeThe experience of living in Rome is amazing and one of a kind. The diversity the University offers is incredibly wide and allows students to learn about the many various cultures that exist throughout the world in one place. Students learn a lot, meet new people from all over the world and often tend to make friends for life. I would never change the experience I have had by coming to John Cabot, an American University in the Heart of Rome.

My classes have further expanded my opportunities to see and experience things in Rome that I would not have thought to do on my own. Last, the location is absolutely perfect.

Great teachers
September 19, 2013by: AlanaGreat teachers. Very knowledgable and helpful to students not only in class but immersing in the culture as well. Apartments are great for European standards and very safe. No problems whatsoever! Only negative was the lack of communication regarding make-up classes before departure, but other than that, a great experience overall.
I really enjoy the teachers, the two that I have are extremely nice, knowledgable, and approachable

Adventures in Roma!
September 17, 2013by: Kimberly SheldonI am having an awesome time studying abroad. Living right in the heart of Rome is the best way to experience Italian culture, and in a good location to take weekend trips around Italy! The people I've met are all amazing, I don't want it to end. Everyone should study abroad!
I'd go back any day.
May 03, 2013by: rencattJCU was an amazing experience I will never forget. I was able to live with other students from all over the world, travel with them and meet other students from throughout the US and still stay in touch with them years later. JCU, simply put, is an American university in the heart of Rome. This allows an easy transition into a new city and country but still providing students with the cultural immersion. Choosing JCU gives students more opportunities. Some abroad programs are just that- programs. Providing daily schedules and weekend trips. JCU is just another school, across the ocean, where students are able to choose their schedules, classes, activities and what to do with their weekends and days. Academics: Studying abroad a student expects to participate in more lax academia. At JCU you have the opportunity to create an amazing class schedule allowing you to travel and see Europe, but be aware that many classes can be demanding. Nothing too crucial but there were times during my abroad experience, when my complaining would run on high. Living Situation: LIVE OFF CAMPUS! I ended up in a beautiful apartment in Trastevere (best part of Roma) with five other students. We were all from different countries. It was amazing.
Immersion and memory of a lifetime
September 05, 2012by: Gavin AnonymousRome is an excellent place to study because of the diverse academic and cultural programs. As the seat of the Roman Empire, capital city of Florence and the Renaissance, member of the EU and its varying positions in WWI and WWII; Rome makes a great place to learn just about anything from an outside perspective. Nothing was greater than studying the architecture in a drawing class or taking the WWII class from a former axis nation. So insightful.

I’m at my happiest self when I step outside my comfort zone and live more adventurously. I also felt like it would be a total mistake to not study abroad during my four years in college. I was very confident that I wouldn’t regret living in Europe. Also, my father studied in Italy for a year when he was in college and he loved it too.

What inspired you to travel abroad?
John Cabot University is an institution that represents diversity and global citizenship. When I was a student, I learned many things from the values and culture of my international classmates and professors. After graduation, I was encouraged to be part of this institution to also share my own values and culture to my international colleagues. It helped me grow as an individual in a foreign country far from my own.
