Travel to Kyoto in summer—the best season for exploring Japan’s cultural capital, studying the Japanese language, and immersing yourself in its rich culture! Kyoto JaLS has prepared a summer course for young people seeking a fun experience abroad.
Kyoto JaLS’ Summer Course takes our standard 15 Japanese lessons per week, adding these with two traditional culture experiences per week for six weeks. This gives you the chance to experience Japanese culture in a variety of ways, such as trying on a kimono, making sushi, and joining tea ceremonies.
Japanese volunteers participate in many of these events, helping you to improve your language skills outside of the classroom. Plus, make friends while experiencing Japan from the inside, and not just as a tourist.
Have the opportunity to attend 3 weekly optional activities, such as traditional summer festivals—including Japan’s highly popular Gion Matsuri, and enjoy all that Kyoto has to offer!
