After surfing and sunbathing are over for the day – and Spanish lessons and surfing! – the town comes alive with funky surf shops, cafes, restaurants and nightspots for every taste and budget. Your experience will be based at ‘Jakera Jungle Surf Camp’ where we have created a jungle paradise complete with swimming pool overlooked by a rich tropical forest bursting with wildlife including red squirrels, howler monkeys and tiny magical hummingbirds. We are a 5 min walk from the cool cafes, bars and shops that line the 6km stretch of road and beach that make up Playa Santa Teresa/Playa El Carmen. Program Highlights
10 Learn Spanish Lessons: Monday to Friday 2x45 min
4 Surf Lessons a week, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday approximately two hours
1 Hiking every wednesday to a secret beach, rock pools amazing sunset, or river walks to explore nature and animal.
Jakera Club Volunteering with the community kids (only when the kids are in school time, Art and Craft, recreative swimming, English classes.
8 Yoga Lessions a week: At beach front deck our Popular Classes include Yoga for all, Vinyasa Flow, Slow Flow, Ashtanga, Hatha, Deep Restorative, Relaxing and Mediation.

Surf in the sea, sleep in the hammock, no better way to learn Spanish. Pura Vida!!

The surf conditions varied from day to day allowing us the chance to practice on some big and small waves. Having enjoyed the surfing a lot, Jakera helped me get in touch and book more lessons to continue after the surf time in my program had ended. In terms of Spanish; I have been able to pick it up very easily with the family and other locals speaking it to and around me, encouraging me to learn. Would highly recommend.
