Stray Dog Rehabilitation in Nepal

by: Involvement Volunteers International

Add first reviewSince 1989

Animal welfare in Nepal is in a dire state. Many animals receive minimal care and are often abandoned as they grow older. Life on the streets is even harsher, with countless stray dogs and cows roaming nearly every street and square in Kathmandu, left to survive on their own. As a volunteer in this program, you will assist in rescuing and rehabilitating street dogs, including those abandoned by their owners. Plenty of these animals are severely malnourished and suffer from conditions such as infected wounds, skin diseases, parasites, worms, and even infestations of maggots, putting them at risk of losing limbs. This initiative has been active in the valley to address such issues and help manage the growing stray dog population. Once rescued, the dogs are cared for in a shelter before being released or placed for adoption, giving them a chance at a better life. Project Tasks: Rescuing and treating injured street dogs Sterilization of female dogs Help in feeding stray dogs Cleaning their enclosures Walking the dogs, cleaning and bathing them, etc.
