Amazing experience with amazing people

A couple of months ago I did 4 weeks volunteering in Córdoba. It was an incredible experience and although my actual volunteering placement wasn’t without its problems, my local homestay was amazing and I have nothing but positive things to say about Nati and Pedro. They were so welcoming, helpful and kind. They made us lovely food, introduced us to their families and were willing to help with whatever we needed. I met some other volunteers who I’ve stayed in contact with and my volunteering placement was very insightful, even if it wasn’t quite what I expected. However, having said this, the IVHQ coordinators in Córdoba gave me other options for my volunteering and tried to make it a positive experience. I would definitely do this again and would recommend to others.

Special Needs In Argentina

June 09, 2015by: Alexandra Freedman - OttawaProgram: Volunteer with Special Needs in Cordoba, Argentina

I was blessed to live in Villa Allende, Cordoba, Argentina for 3 weeks and volunteer at a local special needs facility. The facility was amazing as it was filled with the most loving and caring people. I would look forward to going everyday just to see the smiles on all of their faces. The staff was amazing because you could just tell how much they cared for these wonderful adults. It truly was an enriching experience. The placement itself was wondering because it was only a 15-20 minute walk from the volunteer house and because work did not start until 2pm meaning that you have time to sleep in, eat lunch and then go to work. The facility was colourful and you truly felt safe, comfortable, and welcomed there. IVHQ did a wonderful job of picking this location - the staff is amazing, the adults are incredible. I would without a doubt recommend this organization - and the Argentina trip - to anyone looking for a volunteer experience unlike any other. I have nothing but fond memories of this place and cannot that IVHQ and Argentina enough for their hospitality and friendliness.
