Madagascar was a meaningful volunteer experience
January 23, 2019by: Emilee Miller - United StatesProgram: Volunteer in Community Development in Madagascar with IVHQMy time in Madagascar could be best described as educational and adventurous. I learned so much while also always actively participating in my projects (construction/community & teaching), camp fun, outings, etc. There was never a dull moment, though there were moments that needed to be approached with a mora mora (slowly) mindset. The other volunteers, the staff, the locals, and anyone else I might be forgetting -- they made this experience worthwhile and life-changing. I made some lifelong friends in the 4 weeks I was volunteering, and I think that is an amazing thing. Madagascar is a beautiful country with so much to see. Camp was always kept tidy and the food provided is really pretty good -- it may get a little repetitive, but there is nothing wrong with that, especially when you are feeding large amounts of people.
Hi Emilee, it was a pleasure to help you prepare for your time on the program and I am very happy to hear you enjoyed your first time travelling so much - we look forward to having you join us again in the future! Claire - IVHQ Program Manager.
