Program Overview

Opportunities include Animal Care, Community Support, Refugee Support, Homeless Support, and Ethical Fashion. Each project focuses on helping vulnerable groups and strengthening services that many people rely on. Volunteers may help care for rescued animals, prepare and distribute meals, sort and organise donations, support language or integration activities, assist with children’s or community workshops, or contribute to initiatives that promote empowerment and self-sufficiency.

Daily tasks vary by placement, but all roles offer the chance to make a meaningful contribution while working alongside dedicated local teams. Volunteers help expand the reach of community organisations, provide companionship and encouragement to people experiencing hardship, and support projects that reduce inequality across Athens.

Programs typically run from one to twelve weeks with volunteer commitments of around three to five hours per day. Shared accommodation, meals, orientation, and in-country support are included. Volunteering in Athens provides hands-on experience in impactful community settings and the chance to engage deeply with Greek culture while supporting important local initiatives.

Life changing experience!

It was my first time volunteering abroad, and I only regret doing it for a short time. Giving back to society, and helping cook meals for the people in need, feels so rewarding. No matter how small, doing this can still go a long way and make an impact. I am extremely happy I got to do this and enjoy Athens at the same time. I can't wait to do it again!

Experience Greece for 1 month

I volunteered in Athens for 1 month at a Free Shop, where people who need clothes come and get clothes and other necessities for free. It was an amazing experience getting to experience Greece while helping others. I am glad I got to work with such kind people. The program staff in Athens were always happy to help us. The accommodations were at a hostel which had some problems, which the program staff assisted in solving. On the weekends I had time to explore other parts of Greece, which helped balance out the experience. Overall I learned and experienced a lot by going on this program, it was a great way to meet locals and experience Greece in a unique way.
