Volunteers may also assist with simple outreach activities, helping connect individuals with available resources, offering conversation and companionship, and supporting practical tasks that make daily life a little easier for those in difficult circumstances. Program Highlights
Programs start every first and third Monday of the month. Duration from 1 to 12 weeks
Includes airport pick up, orientation, hostel accommodation in Athens, meals and 24/7 in-country support
Volunteer up to 4–5 hours per day working at homeless shelters or soup kitchens, tasks may include preparing and serving meals, distributing clothing and hygiene supplies, and cleaning facilities.
Work aims to support vulnerable people facing poverty, social exclusion, or housing insecurity by helping meet basic needs and offering a safe, supportive environment
Opportunity to contribute to social welfare and community support, gain hands-on experience in outreach and care work, develop empathy and communication skills, and engage with the local community

I spent a week doing food outreach on Chios island in Greece through IVHQ. The support from staff provided clear expectations and helpful info. They were available daily if needed. It was great to help out and yet have time to experience the culture of the island. I will definitely be signing up for another project!
