Get TEFL Certified & Teach English in Thailand!

I used the International TEFL Academy Alumni Facebook groups to connect with other alumni in Thailand. I had the alumni corner help me to fix my resume to be up to date and ready to go before I started applying for positions.

The course with ITA’s partner school in Chiang Mai, SEE TEFL, is incredible! I’m just 4 weeks I went from zero teaching experience to feeling comfortable planning and executing effective EFL lessons. The instructors are extremely knowledgeable and truly want trainees to succeed. The course is not easy and requires dedicated effort and time, but it is worth it. The only critique I have is that it would be nice to have a bit more time in class to practice what we’ve learned in front of our peers and instructors before the Observed Teaching Practices, but I realize that this is difficult considering the time constraint.

I live in Asia and am a retired Professor of Surgery. WMD in my left eye has buggered up my depth perception so I thought it was prudent to leave clinical practice. So what to do? i am not a thumb twiddler and have really enjoyed teaching for the past 40 years but what to teach and to whom? Eureka moment. I am a native English speaker, I love to write and I love the English language. I know a couple of NET teachers and there is certainly a demand in this part of the world. So the question was how to get a qualification. I did my due diligence and found that the course provided by the International TEFL Academy ticked all the boxes; basically, time, convenience and cost. Now it is a question of finding out how the reputation of the ITA certification helps. The online course is ten weeks of intensive study and participation. It is very enjoyable and if I was at the other end of my professional life I would have found the collegiality very comforting. As it is I am approaching that dubious status of EWM so prefer to keep a lower profile. I now have the practicum to complete and am really looking forward to getting on with the real thing. In summary, excellent course, not a walk over and no complaints.

I felt that this course gave a certificate that set me up for life! For just 10 weeks and under $2000, I made myself more marketable by taking this course but it also did not overtake my life. It was very flexible and the readings were excellent and straight to the point. The advisors and instructors at ITA know what they are doing and they do it well!

This course has been great. After the work I've done I feel much more confident. The International TEFL Academy team has been very friendly. My instructor was knowledgeable and helpful. I'm happy that I took the time to take their course!

This has been an intense experience even though it was an online class, not live. I found the training to be comprehensive and valuable. I have learned so much about appropriate lesson planning and interactive activity planning. I am looking forward to starting my ESL teaching online while I continue to work. I know this class exceeded my expectations and I feel prepared to begin this new venture!

I really enjoyed taking this course and learned so much. You practice a lot of what you will need to be doing in a classroom and do a lot of lesson planning and activity planning. It was extremely helpful to learn about all the different ways that individuals learn as well. My advisor was so sweet and called me to talk to me about ITA. A real person on the phone who was able to answer all of my questions and send me more information. My teacher for the course was also fantastic. She explained everything very well and always gave us feedback in a timely manner.

This course provided me with the essential tools I need to start teaching abroad. I am confident in what I have learned and really feel the quality of course material and instruction is top notch. The flexibility of doing the course online meant that I was able to do this while I was traveling. I am very happy overall and would highly recommend ITA to anyone looking to do their TEFL training.

After reviewing all the information in the brochure and online information, I called ITA and spoke with a very knowledgable advisor. I gave myself a couple of days to really think about it and if this was really what I wanted to do. I knew that the course would provide intensive training for teaching and that was what I was looking for. A solid base to learn about teaching English as a second language. So, I called my advisor back and signed up immediately. All the instructions were provided online but, being old school, I ordered the course textbook. This way, I had it sitting right in front of me and I could highlight all the relevant and pertinent information I wanted. I also have this textbook for future reference for all my class needs and review. Ordering the book was easy and was printed and shipped in a very timely manner by the printer. If you are just graduating from college and looking to travel and teach, ITA is for you. If you have just retired and still have the desire to help children and adults learn English, this is also the perfect place for you to get your TEFL certification so you can teach English in other countries or online. This is not an easy course so be prepared for some great learning experiences that ITA will provide you. Your instructor will always be available to answer any question you have and will do so in a timely manner. After getting your TEFL certificate, ITA will guide you on your job search, while also providing you with assistance on your resumes' and cover letters and how to give the perfect interview. I loved this experience, I've already applied for positions abroad and am expecting a placement in May for September! The course was excellent, the support and feedback was amazing, and the practical is what you make it. I made it top notch and ended up getting to student teach several times, have a couple students I tutor and observed some classes. The experience is invaluable and my teaching style will reflect everything I've learned.

I believe this was a great course and I am so happy I finally did it. I had been thinking about teaching English abroad for a few years now and finally decided to just take this TEFL course with ITA as I had seen so many people on Instagram who we teaching abroad and they got their TEFL cert. from ITA. This course really prepares you for your teaching experience and I learned a lot about what it means to be an English teacher as well as other situations that come from living abroad such as culture shock. The course is doable working a full-time Monday-Friday job, but it isn't something you can slack on and do last minute. It feels like a genuine online college course. I would highly recommend someone wanting to get TEFL certified to take this course.

The module is pretty much straight forward. Always kept my interest level high, except as expected the grammar section. Everything is provided for you to succeed. The instructor gives you good feedback on your assignments. Shout-out Kelli Ryan! Very lucky to have her as the instructor.

This course was extremely effective. Communication with International TEFL Academy was excellent. My instructor provided lots of useful feedback. I would highly recommend to anyone seeking their TEFL certification.

I think that the course gave me the necessary tools to launch as a TEFL instructor. It was an overview, so I can see where the material would go more in depth in a TEFL Master's course, but this course accomplished what it described. I would venture to suggest that some of the textbook media be updated, such as the Restaurant video in Chapter 9, but other than that the course material was appropriate and modern.

Although I have not started teaching abroad yet, I actually feel prepared to teach now. Before this course I was SO incredibly anxious about holding someone's education in my hands. I feared I would not prepare for their needs or educate my future students properly. After this course I feel prepared to create lesson plans, adapt them, teach my students, and also learn from them. I hope you will consider this course. The price is worth it. This course is also the ONLY one I could find that required observation and student teaching hours, aka real world experience.

My way of deciding whether or not i should pursue a action is via the "pillow test." After speaking with Amanda, my admissions adviser, I woke up the next morning calling in to set my course date. Two weeks later I began the Online TEFL Certification! Boy oh Boy it wasn't easy but I learned so much about teaching and myself. The course goes through 1 chapter each week, in the chapter you must complete: a discussion board post, quiz/ quizzes and a task or tasks. On average I spent 9 hours a week dedicated to reading and completing all assignments. My course professor was Kenny and he gave excellent feedback on each task based from the rubric, was quick to respond to questions, and always announced each new week and possible areas we may struggle. The material is real and raw. It is honest, constructive and thought provoking. You're not wasting your time by choosing this organization! Ohhhh and even if you haven't decided yet, follow them on Instagram. They have amazing takeovers from students currently taking the class abroad to former students currently teaching abroad! Super informative and they even help spy on which country you may want to teach in.

I really enjoyed reading the information provided in the course textbook. I found the activities useful, relatable and accurate to my future role as a teacher. I also liked all the additional information available for us to learn what type of learners we are so we can relate to the learning process our students will be going through and be more effective teachers.

After searching high and low all over the internet, ITA was the best choice! They have equipped me to start my journey in teaching abroad in Thailand. That admissions advisor was amazing, and very helpful. He answered all my questions (Andrew) without putting too much pressure. The online course is more expensive than your average school, but it is totally worthy it. If you want a quality course providing you with material that is worth teaching, then go with ITA!

I always find it interesting when you start seeing the background processes of any profession in a class. Teaching English as a foreign language was no different. From day one, you can see why some of your past teachers made certain decisions while they were teaching. I started from ground zero, with no teaching experience whatsoever, and now I have a lesson planning portfolio that's ready to show during interviews. The instructors and advisors are really helpful and willing to address any concerns you may have about teaching or the course itself. I would definitely recommend this course to anyone else who is thinking about teaching English abroad and can say without a doubt that the alumni referral program is legit (the wording is just a little confusing so you have to make sure you contact your friend's advisor as well as your own and have enrollment dates ready to mention).
