Master of International Relations and Diplomacy (MIRD)
The Master of International Relations and Diplomacy (MIRD) prepares students for leadership roles in the private sector, diplomatic services, and international organizations. Located in Geneva, the program takes advantage of the city’s unique status as the global capital of multilateral diplomacy, home to key institutions such as the United Nations, WTO, WHO, ICRC, WEF, and many others. Students gain extensive networking opportunities with professionals from these organizations. The program comprises 10 courses covering global diplomacy, international law, peace, security, and development. Faculty members are mostly professionals from UN agencies and international organizations, providing students with a practical and hands-on learning experience. The MIRD offers students the option to graduate with dual degrees, awarded by both the International Institute in Geneva and the University of Plymouth (UK). This dual-degree opportunity strengthens graduates' qualifications and career prospects in international relations, diplomacy, and global governance, opening doors to roles in international organizations, the private sector, and diplomatic missions.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the age limit to apply for a master degree?
Unfortunately, due to Swiss regulations, non-EU citizens over the age of 30 are not eligible for a student visa and therefore won’t be able to join the classes on campus. This rule is provided by the Swiss government NOT by the institute. However, our Masters may be followed online except during exam weeks (January and May): evening classes, CET. We encourage you to consider this option.
Do I need an English Proficiency test?
The English proficiency is waived for native speakers and for those who studied in English previously. Otherwise, we need your English test results (TOEFL, TOEIC or IELTS).
Is there any student residency?
A range of student housing is available in Geneva from small and exclusive apartments to large residences, featuring their own facilities such as restaurants and study rooms. You have two choices: either you apply through the Institute for the residences below: Cité Vieusseux, Montbrillant, Studhome, Carlton and Rothschild student residence.
Do you offer scholarships?
We offer scholarships up to 30 % off the tuition fees for students who achieved a high GPA. You will be required to work 4 hours a week in the Institute. To be considered, applicants must have a high GPA, have recently completed their secondary/ undergraduate education and have serious financial difficulties. You can apply for a Scholarship by writing a request letter to be sent with your Application Form and Application file.
