The Arles Project 2026
Mentored by a team of award-winning professors with international experience, students will explore Arles, one of the most beautiful cities in the South of France. With its rich history, diverse population, and international photography and world music festivals, Arles provides an inspiring backdrop for aspiring foreign correspondents and others seeking opportunities to report overseas. Arles is a haven for archaeologists, ecologists, photographers, and art specialists, and it provides a microcosm of French life and culture. Students can report on the environment, food, the arts, social issues, or other topics of their choosing. Situated at the apex of the delta formed by the Rhône River and the Mediterranean Sea, Arles became a strategically important provincial capital of ancient Rome, and several impressive ancient Roman monuments remain, including an arena that still hosts concerts and bull races. Its proximity to the Camargue salt marshes has made it a premier location for the study of Mediterranean wetlands.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does The Arles Project cost?
The Arles Project costs $5,995, excluding airfare and academic credit. For an additional $450, students can receive academic credit through the University of Jamestown. Optional 6 units cost $900.
Does The Arles Project include accommodation?
Yes. Program participants stay with host families in Arles and receive breakfast and dinner four times weekly. Host families are carefully selected and regularly visited to ensure students’ safety and comfort.
Will studying abroad impact my graduation?
Students may earn three credits of an upper-division journalism elective for this course, four credits for schools in the quarter system. The University of Jamestown will issue the credits, and we will work with you so that these are easily transferable to your university. Transfer credit ultimately depends on a student's home university.
The cost for academic credit is $450.
Do you offer financial aid?
Recognizing that the expense of international education can be a significant barrier for many students, ieiMedia actively shares and advises on accessible resources such as the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship. Contact us for details.
