Fall Semester Interior and Spatial Design - IED Milan

Interior and spatial design is about enhancing environments through the proper use of ergonomics, materials, and light to improve comfort, quality, and safety for users. This new and growing field creatively combines cultural and social awareness, economic responsibility, and technical insight.

The four-month Fall Semester in Interior and Spatial Design focuses on projects that address contemporary themes such as sustainability, identity, and the repurposing of buildings. You'll analyze and interpret existing or new sites and conditions to build a sense of place. You'll add identity to spatial environments to enhance user interaction on an emotional level.

This educational path introduces you to the design process and way of thinking, teaching you fundamental skills, theories, and methods through a combination of lectures, workshops, and site visits. You'll learn to develop projects for spaces like residences, exhibits, and restaurants.

This course is taught in English and starts each September. It is especially geared toward high school graduates, university students, and professionals from other fields who wish to deepen their knowledge of interior and spatial design.
