The experience would not have been the same if the staff and other participants were not as welcoming, open-minded, and inclusive as they were.

My experience at GVI's base in Kokrobite, Ghana has been absolutely amazing. Not only is the community and the partner schools great, but so is the base and the staff living there. They make sure that the base is a safe and fun communal space to live in from the moment you step foot in there. I am certain that the experience would not have been the same, if the staff and other participants were not as welcoming, openminded and including as they were. It is also obvious when you walk through the community that the locals appreciate and respect GVI and their participants because of all the volunteer work GVI has done for the local community - which is a very rewarding feeling as a participant, because it shows that you are actually making a difference here.

I had a blast during this program.

I had a blast during this program. All the stuff we were able to do was really cool. Indie and Fliss were amazing group leaders and did a fantastic job. They were always there for us and were great leaders. Casa Tucan is a great place and company to have a base at. We all learned a ton about the culture here in Costa Rica and I wouldn't change it for anything. You guys are the best !

Really excellent programme

Really excellent programme. The staff are fantastic and the projects are well run, thought provoking and engaging. There is an impressive focus on sustainability and building ties with/upskilling the local community in a way which other NGOs arguably do not. This reflective outlook means there is tangible, long term change. Ghana is also a very interesting country with friendly people and a fascinating culture. This was an authentic, immersive experience and I highly recommend to those who are hoping to experience Africa.

As volunteers you will work with a variety of females teaching English, health and life skills classes across different ages and levels, depending on the needs of the local community at the time.
