Volunteers joining this project will assist teachers in island communities in the Caqalai Island chain in Fiji. Volunteers will work alongside local teachers working with students typically aged between 4 and 7 years old in one or more of the island communities. Volunteers will work with the children assisting, local teachers to teach English and basic numeracy. On weekends there is time to enjoy the local area, volunteers can go island hopping, snorkelling, scuba diving, partake in cultural activities and enjoy the many adventure activities on offer. Fiji is the perfect location to assist with education and care for the nation's children, spend time in paradise and enjoy a truly exotic culture.

Dan and Leti, the leaders, were amazing. They were so organized and really went over and above to make sure we all had the best experience. Volunteering in the elementary school and being a part of the community was touching on so many levels. By the end, it was amazing at how quickly bonded we with the kids, the teachers, the community, and our fellow volunteers.

I very much enjoyed most aspects of the programme - teaching and getting to know the students, working as part of a team while on base and meeting people from all walks of life. I love getting to know and experience different cultures while helping people at the same time.

So many positive experiences in this program. (1) Working with the children and seeing how they responded to me and began to open up to me. Seeing some of my ideas work really well. (2) Meeting all the amazing volunteers and just getting to know them and have fun with them. (3) The side activities - going to a resort for the weekend etc.
