This program was a life changing experience for me
July 02, 2022by: OmarProgram: Community Development Short-Term Internship in MexicoThis program was a life changing experience for me and opened my eyes in a variety of ways. Interacting with the children on a day to day basis helped me grow in ways I could never have imagined. For me specifically, this program helped me gain practical experience in a sector that immensely interests me and one that I plan to pursue a career in.

GVI has made me a better person
February 03, 2019by: VeniceProgram: Community Development Short-Term Internship in MexicoI want to say thank you to all the field staff. I owe so, so much to each and everyone of them. They all work way above what is required and I urge whoever is reading this to hold onto the staff for as long as possible. GVI has made me a better person in almost every way possible. I am so happy to have been part of such an incredible group of people. Thanks to Miguel. He always had a smile on his face and I feel he would go to the end of the world for us. Héctor who has now left was an awesome person to have around. His energy was infectious and he made every day a good day. Thanks so much to our instructor, Sasha. She is the mom on base and I owe so, so much to her. I've never met a better instructor and she's an even better person. Sara the science officer has been amazing. She wears her heart on her sleeve and is the most passionate person I've ever met. I'll miss laughing with her every day. Caro has been such a great addition to base. Her smile lights up the room. The work she does with the kids at library was amazing. I'm super proud to know her. Last but, not least is Kayla. She has been more than just a mentor. She has inspired me to be the best person I can be and I'll be grateful forever.
An incredible experience in all regards
December 25, 2018by: DarylProgram: Community Development Short-Term Internship in MexicoAn incredible experience in all regards. Daily duties and activities had a purpose that made you feel you were actively contributing to the work going on. The base was like a home, the work was enjoyable and always interesting, the atmosphere was welcoming, training was useful and allowed you to gain as much from the experience as possible. The staff at Jalova are some of the most committed, friendly and informative people I have ever had the pleasure to meet. The success of this base and the amazing adventure enjoyed by every volunteer here is entirely down to their openness and hard work. The base would not work without them.
