Nicaragua give trip of June 2026

August 11, 2026by: Kaitlyn Pherez - United States

Program: GIVE Nicaragua: Cultural immersion and Surfing

My trip to Nicaragua with Give volunteers that I took in June 2026 was a wonderful and life changing experience. All four of our guides were so great and they truly cared about making a genuine connection with me and the other volunteers. We all had so much fun together because the itinerary was never bland and neither were the people I met. One minute we would be helping the local people and environment of Jiquilillo and the next we’d be surfing the waves of the pacific. I made connections with so many locals that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. Everyone in this community welcomed us with open arms and endless kindness, they showed it through the food they fed us, stories they told, and the bracelets they made for us. If you are looking for a fulfilling travel experience where you’ll meet all sorts of new friends, I recommend taking the leap and join give volunteers in Nicaragua.

Hill tribes trip

This trip was life changing in so many aspects and I could not recommend it enough. We were culturally immersed in ways that were so raw and authentic and were able to build connections with the community through local guides and volunteer work. We trekked through multiple tribes and got to experience the different ways in which each lives as well as learn a part of their language and try to connect by doing Q&As and joining in traditional activities and dances. The itinerary was incredible and the team was unforgettable, I will forever cherish the connections I made through this trip.

The team was incredible and every day was planned out so thoughtfully and organized. Just when I thought it couldn’t get better, it did and the connections I made on the trip feel lifelong. I learned so much not only about the culture but the spiritual connections between elephant and human and got to witness it first hand. I hope to go back soon because I don’t have enough words to describe the lessons I took away from this trip. I still cannot believe the things I did and saw and how incredible these creatures are up close. I also had the most incredible time with my guides, they kept us safe, made us laugh, and really made us feel like a part of their family and community.

I went to Tanzania, Africa. By far my favorite trip I’ve ever taken in my life. I feel as I have a whole new family and a second home. The guides and locals were so welcoming and friendly. The others on the trip were in the same boat as me so I was very comfortable and happy. I will for sure be taking another trip with GIVE volunteers. 100/10 experience, if you think you wanna do it, don’t think, just go for it!

Life Altering Fun and Impact on the Big Island of Hawai'i

My trip to the Big Island of Hawai’i changed my life and the way that I connect with my inner humanity. Yes, I got to go on amazing adventures like snorkeling with sea turtles, climbing a volcano and seeing it actually erupt, chasing waterfalls, exploring caves and black sand beaches, and so much more. But what made it all worth it was the relationships that I created and the wisdom that I received by living and working alongside the locals. Our project hosts gave me so many life tools with the completion of every project and our guides, Traven, Jordan, and Liv, where there to help our group every step of the way. Every time I pulled an invasive species out of the Earth, I pulled invasive thoughts out of my head. Every time I removed waste from the coastlines, I removed waste within myself. And every time I learned more of the Native’s wisdom, I unlearned the American norm of making a living and relearned the human beauty in making a life. I recommend this life altering trip to anyone and everyone. I felt so safe, so guided, and so changed the entire time. Thank you to the locals of the Big Island for welcoming me as family, my new ‘ohana that I found in my fellow volunteers, and GIVE for helping to make a trip like this possible.

Sustainable tourism with some volunteering here and there

I went on a trip with GIVE in 2023 to Tanzania. I want to preface with the fact that all of the staff and people who work for GIVE were very kind and accommodating. I will also say that I had a very good time on the trip. It’s super well organized and the activities they plan for you are great. However, if you’re looking for a chance to properly experience a culture and to volunteer, there are better ways to do so which cost a fraction of what GIVE requires you pay. It may take a bit of research online, but there are definitely programs out there that will house you and allow you to stay for various durations. AIESEC is an example of a student run association which has chapters worldwide which is focused on global exchanges and leadership. If you’re interested in religion, you could even look into ministries abroad. My Swiss cousin has volunteered numerous times in countries like Uganda and Tanzania where she goes to care for children for practically FREE. This isn’t a coincidence. I think that in the US, we are very easy targets for companies like GIVE because we don’t question international trips when they cost a small fortune. With how much we already pay for our college tuitions, who better to convince to shell out money for glorified two week vacations abroad to get a glimpse of other cultures than young naive Americans with cash to burn? I spent at least $5,000 for my two week trip, including airfare. When you compare how much accommodation and food cost in Tanzania (seriously, Google it), it’s clear that most of the money probably went into paying GIVE’s staff, the excursions themselves, and funding their school project. You pay to participate and for GIVE sorting out the logistics, voilà. You get to pat yourself on the back after two hours of work then go snorkeling with dolphins. If that’s the kind of experience you’re looking for, then absolutely go for it! I would say it’s much more about sustainable tourism than anything else! But to call it a true volunteering experience, I’m not sure I would venture so far as to say that. Personally, I feel like that’s more of a marketing ploy to reel in young Americans (and occasionally people from other places) looking to get out of their comfort zones, who are tired of their usual vacations to Cancun, Mexico where they drink margaritas on a cruise ship deck while slathering on skin tan lotion. It feels more altruistic to be called a “volunteer” than a “sustainable tourist”. Better for marketing and for convincing parents and relatives to help pay for the trip. So, would I recommend GIVE Volunteers? That depends on what kind of experience you’re looking for. All in all, I considered it to be a very cool vacation with fun excursions. We went on a safari, snorkeling with dolphins, on walking tours, to a spice farm etc. I had a lot of fun. However, I’d recommend you look at different options for authentic volunteering experiences for much less money (most of these destinations GIVE offers are very inexpensive in general, $3,000+ USD is a substantial sum for locals).

Absolutely amazing! The local guides were so knowledgable and made the experience extremely unique and one that will stay with me forever. The entire trip I felt so safe, was well fed and learned lots about the culture and how I can apply different lessons to my life that I learned in Zanzibar.

I absolutely loved the Thailand Elephant Experience! The guides were all super welcoming, understanding, and so much fun to be around! They made it a goal to connect with everyone on the trip and make sure everyone was comfortable with the activities! I really enjoyed the connection to all the communities we visited. P’Dee, P’Pon Pon, and P’Ann were all excellent guides who were organized and ready to lead us on the adventure! Hunter was an absolutely amazing guide. She was welcoming, fun, and so willing to share herself with you! I hope she is able to continue her experience with GIVE in the future! I definitely feel like all the guides are now my life long friends! The experience itself was magical. Getting to see all the personal moments with the Elephants and learn so much about their history and care was amazing! I would 100% do this experience again whether it’s for the guides or the trip! I plan on traveling with GIVE again!

I am so grateful that I decided to go on this GIVE Volunteer trip as it has taught me a lot about Hawai’i but also the relationship between the land and people. The guides were amazing, I enjoyed their energy and explanations during the trip. They made the trip enjoyable and comfortable. I found the work that we were doing to be helpful to our project partners and was glad to help. I learned so many new things about the Hawaiian culture that I would not have thought to learn without GIVE volunteers like the relationship between the land and people. The land is not just a place to live but a provider, parent or grandparent. I am glad I got to learn about the natives connection to the big island and their spiritual connection was comforting as well as eye opening. The other volunteers on this trip made it welcoming because it was also a first time with GIVE Volunteers for them and a few had already been on trips with GIVE before.

When I first set out on this adventure, I did not know what to expect. My friends and family, even myself, were shocked that I chose such a far and unfamiliar place with people I had never even met. Little did I know what these people and this place would mean to me when I left. Throughout these 14 days, I had the privilege of traveling, learning, and volunteering throughout northern Thailand. I experienced its rich culture, beautiful views, and the “Sabai Sabai” way. There are no words that can truly do this experience justice. Nonetheless, I met the most amazing and inspirational people, from the locals to the guides to my fellow travelers. These individuals showed me what life looks like when we’re fully present, focused on each other and our actions rather than materialistic ideologies and unrealistic standards for the world around us. I was shown how resilient we are both mentally and physically, and how essential it is to put aside our worries in order to feed our wellbeing. During my time here, I was reminded how much I value the outdoors and hard work, and shown the level of possibility that can be reached in the span of 24 hours. This trip is amazing and filled with new experiences and learning opportunities. Come in with no expectations and an open mind, and you will leave so incredibly fulfilled and changed. Say YES!!

My experience with GIVE Volunteers in Laos was truly unforgettable. From the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed by both the GIVE staff and the local community. The trip was thoughtfully organized and balanced meaningful volunteer work with cultural immersion and adventure. The GIVE staff created a supportive, encouraging environment that made it easy to step outside my comfort zone while feeling safe and included. They were knowledgeable, passionate, and genuinely cared about both the volunteers and the communities they partner with. This experience gave me a new appreciation for different cultures and reminded me of the importance of human connection. I left Laos with lifelong memories, incredible friendships, and a perspective that will stay with me for years to come. I would highly recommend GIVE Volunteers to anyone looking for a meaningful travel experience that combines service, cultural exchange, and personal growth. It was truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and I'm so grateful I had the chance to be a part of it.

never knew that 2 weeks could make such an impact on my life and change my perspective of life. This trip has shown me what true love, community, family, and happiness looks like. Being in rural communities that have nothing and being immersed in their world and seeing how happy, welcoming, kind, and generous they were was truly a privilege to witness, I want to thank all the wonderful people I met during this trip who made me feel like I had a family here in Nicaragua I will forever carry you in my heart. To my students your presence, personality’s , and character have left everlasting memories and joy on me and I will never forget you or our memories together. I want to encourage everyone to take a step out of your comfort zone, no matter what it may be because it may reveal something within you heart you never knew was there before. I am extremely proud of myself for deciding to take the risk and do this trip because it enabled me to witness rich culture and the most beautiful places I have ever seen

What made this experience so great wasn't just the cool things we got to do or see but the connections and impact we were able to make. As someone who had never been outside the United States, I had many preconceived assumptions and fears about where I was going would be like. However, as each day went by throughout the trip, I got more and more comfortable about where I was, grateful for everything I had, and above all, excited about the fact that all of my fears and worries couldn't have been farther from the truth. Every Single Person throughout the trip was kind, compassionate, helpful, and thankful for us being there, despite any language barriers there might have been. Throughout the trip, we were able to make positive changes in both ourselves and the communities we were in. From helping the community's environment, children, and families to even helping its infrastructure, we were able to make a difference for good. Additionally, getting to see life from such a drastically different perspective truly was life-changing in the best way. No matter how long your trip is, it will feel like a lifetime, it will change you and those around you for the better, and it will be worth every penny...

The Thailand Elephant Experience was such a perfect trip. Right when i landed i was met by the local guides at the airport. The 3 main guides were amazing, wonderful, kind, helpful and organized. Right from day 1 they made sure we had the most perfect experience. Being up close with the elephants was truly a once in a life time experience. All of our meals were delicious and filling. The friends and connections i made throughout the week will stay with me forever. The hike through the jungle was truly a special experience, seeing the elephants in the wild, fresh fruit growing on the trees and views were spectacular. Getting to visit the local communities and learn from the residents about the Thai way of life was such a heart warming experience. If your on the fence about doing this trip, i will tell you, go ahead and book it!! You will truly love it and make wonderful connections! I have zero regrets after doing this!

Everything about Thailand with give was absolutely unforgettable! Every person that I met and place that I went exceeded every expectation that I could have had! This trip was so so excellent. And the guides made sure that I was not only always okay but that I was given the most immersive trip possible! They were so knowledgeable when asked any question and loved to share their culture and stories with us which made the trip even better! All of the local and international guides were so kind, caring and authentically themselves! Creating such a save space for each volunteer to do the same. The itinerary was packed with a great mix of all things Thailand, and on top of the wonderful volunteering we did, it provided a truly amazing opportunity to really experience the people of Thailand and it’s culture. It truly was such an incredible opportunity!

Not only was it incredible to interact with elephants up close, but the local guides, communities who hosted us, the culture of the places we stayed, and the people I traveled with were all SO amazing. This trip was enriching, transformative, and meaningful beyond description. I grew during the trip, but also it somehow made me feel more like myself, too!! I am so grateful that I went on this trip.

Travelling with this group was a life changing experience for me and showed me that there is so much this beautiful world has to offer. The way the guides opened their hearts to strangers and welcomed us in made it really easy to get comfortable with them. They are such a close group of friends too and I really enjoyed their group dynamic. Their planning makes it really easy to go with the flow and if you just show up on time with a positive attitude then youre gonna have an absolute blast. The trip also had a really nice balance of volunteering, fun adventures, and activities that the local people led to give us an insight into the life and culture of Thailand. Really reset my mentality on how much was possible in 24 hours and showed me that I am much more capable that I thought I was. And finally, the fellow volunteers. If youre nervous then thats totally normal because so was I! What I'll say is that youll never meet a more like minded group of individuals, no matter how different we all appeared on the surface. Everyone blended together so well and it was incredible for me to see how well strangers could get along and become life long friends. It only happens if you take the leap of faith so just do it!!

I traveled with GIVE to Laos in the summer of 2026 and the trip impacted me in ways I never thought possible. The volunteer projects included building a road up to the village of Sop Chem, and teaching English to the local children. Each project was so important and taught me a lot about hard work and dedication. The adventures we went on were always so fun yet informative. We got to go to: the UXO museum to learn how Laos was impacted by (and continues to be affected by) the Vietnam War; the Save the Bears wildlife refuge; hiking; camping under the stars; swimming in different waterfalls; and so much more. There was never a dull moment. While the volunteer work and fun adventures were great, they are not the most enjoyable part of the trip. The most memorable part was just interacting with and working alongside the local people in Sop Chem each day. The people in Laos may not have many physical riches but they are so rich compassion, community, and love. They taught me to always live in the moment, accept the uncertainty of uncomfortable situations, and to appreciate the little things. Even though there was a language barrier, I still have such a strong connection with many of the women there and I’ll always value the many lessons they taught me. If you are wanting to step out of your comfort zone, volunteer on amazing projects, and travel the world, I highly recommend traveling with GIVE!

Life changing experience!!

I did the Thailand and Elephant experience with GIVE. Traveling to Thailand with GIVE was one of the most transformative experiences of my life. I gained a completely new perspective on the world, conservation, and my own place within it. From the moment I arrived, I was immersed in a culture that values community, kindness, and connection. Thailand's breathtaking landscapes, vibrant traditions, and welcoming people made every day unforgettable. But what truly changed me was the opportunity to learn about ethical elephant tourism and conservation. Before this trip, my understanding of elephant tourism was limited to what I had seen online and in travel advertisements. Like many travelers, I didn't fully understand the impact that certain tourist activities can have on these incredible animals. Through GIVE, I was able to learn directly from local experts and conservationists about the challenges elephants face and the importance of responsible, ethical tourism. Spending time around rescued elephants was both humbling and eye-opening. Rather than riding or exploiting these animals for entertainment, we observed them in environments that prioritized their well-being and natural behaviors. Watching elephants interact with one another, forage, and simply exist in a way that respected their needs gave me a much deeper appreciation for their intelligence and emotional complexity. The experience challenged me to think critically about the choices I make as a traveler. I realized that tourism has the power to either harm or help, depending on how we engage with local communities, wildlife, and conservation efforts. GIVE showed me that responsible travel can create positive change when it supports ethical practices and empowers local people. Beyond the elephant conservation work, the trip pushed me outside of my comfort zone in the best possible ways. I formed meaningful friendships, gained confidence, and learned the value of living with intention and gratitude. Every day offered opportunities to learn, serve, and connect on a deeper level than I ever expected. Looking back, Thailand was more than just a destination—it was a life-changing journey. The lessons I learned about conservation, sustainable tourism, and global citizenship continue to influence how I travel and how I view the world. GIVE didn't just show me Thailand; it helped me see life from an entirely new perspective. I would recommend this experience to anyone seeking more than a typical vacation. If you're looking for personal growth, cultural immersion, and a meaningful understanding of ethical wildlife tourism, traveling to Thailand with GIVE is an experience that will stay with you long after you return home.

If someone had told me a year ago that a flyer on the back of a bathroom stall door would lead to one of the most meaningful experiences of my life, I never would have believed them. My two weeks in Thailand with GIVE Volunteers exceeded every expectation I had. I came into this trip excited but nervous, unsure if I was ready to travel halfway around the world with a group of strangers. I left with lifelong friendships, unforgettable memories, and a completely new perspective on community, sustainability, and global citizenship. One of the most impactful parts of the trip was working in the village of Mueng Khong, where I had the opportunity to teach English to local children and learn from the community that welcomed us so warmly. The villagers shared their culture, traditions, dances, crafts, and way of life with us, and I will always be grateful for their kindness and generosity. It never felt like we were simply visiting—we were welcomed with open arms. The local guides were truly the heart of this experience. Their stories, resilience, and passion inspired me every day. Learning about the challenges they overcame to pursue education and create opportunities for their communities gave me a deeper appreciation for perseverance, gratitude, and service. Beyond the volunteer work, the experiences were unforgettable. From working on permaculture projects and visiting Pun Pun Sustainability Farm to trekking through the jungle, bamboo rafting, campfires under the stars, and meaningful late-night conversations, every day challenged me to step outside my comfort zone and embrace the present moment. More than anything, this trip reminded me of the importance of human connection. Despite coming from different countries, cultures, and backgrounds, I was constantly reminded of how much we all have in common. Thailand gave me memories that will last a lifetime, but more importantly, it gave me perspective. I left with a fuller heart, a broader worldview, and a deeper understanding of what it means to be part of a global community. Thank you, GIVE Volunteers, the local communities, and everyone who made this experience possible. This was more than a trip—it was a chapter of my life that I will carry with me forever.

I had a life-changing experience

I had such an amazing experience with Give volunteers. I had my first Give trip this past spring break from March 14th through the 21st in Costa Rica. The trip was amazing and I had such a beautiful experience with everything my group and I got to do and everyone worked so well together. My guides were amazing! I loved working in the garden and helping kids with their English, going to a local restaurant and cabins called Kaniki to speak Spanish with this wonderful lady named Rita (I got to pet the cat and big, sweet dog too), and the food was delicious not to mention really fresh and healthy. By the end of the trip, our group had cried together a number of times, and we are like family now. We will totally be seeing one another in the near future, just a matter of when. I cried tears of joy on the plane home as the memories from the trip played through my mind. I felt like I made a difference, and that feeling has carried over into my motivations to make a difference back home :)

The GIVE Elephant Experience was truly the greatest experience I have ever had! This trip was a long time coming for me and from the moment I booked it, GIVE was extremely helpful, thorough and always reassuring. When I arrived in Thailand I was greeted with amazing energy from P'Dee and felt welcome immediately. P'Ann and P'phon also always met you with a smile and open arms and I couldn't speak more highly of them! Cassidy, our 4th guide, was the kindest person you'll ever meet. She was so helpful throughout the trip and an amazing person to talk to. The guides were all so comforting and they made us laugh and smile each and everyday. My absolute favorite part of the trip was how hands on we got to be at the Elephant Freedom Village, it was life changing to experience feeding and bathing adult and baby elephants. Another favorite part of mine was the down time we had and the car rides where we got to interact and learn so much about al the other people in our group. I met so many different people and made some real friends for life. I loved that every person we met in Thailand had so much passion for their country, the elephants and life in general. The trip was so organized from start to finish and we were given a very thorough itinerary each day to follow so you knew exactly what to wear, what we were doing and exact times. I could go on and on with how amazing this trip was for me, I wish I could stay in Thailand forever! So thank you so much GIVE for giving me this opportunity, I hope to join another group in the future!

Honestly the best 2 weeks of my life. I had a blast and have made many memories on this trip I will never forget. First of all, the guides were awesome and amazing people. Very friendly, easy to to talk to, and always checking up on you and making sure you are having fun. The group I was with were also amazing and always had excellent energy throughout the whole trip. Everyone was willing to connect, share stories, play games, and let their authenticity show. I really loved the way the trip was organized and scheduled. We knew what time to wake up, go to sleep, when we were going to do our activities, etc. It was very educational and I learned a lot about the people, the culture, the environment, and the problems the country faces. I loved the diversity in activities and how we actually connected and exchanged cultural ideas with locals in rural communities that you don’t usually get to see. Overall, a 10/10. Would totally go on another trip in the future!

GIVE did it again with giving me a second 10/10 trip! The Laos team is nothing short of AMAZING, inspiring, and smart and I am grateful to have gotten to travel with them and learn from them all. Being in the village of Sop Chem was special as I became close to several locals and had the privilege of gaining knowledge of their culture. Beginning with breakfast and ending the day with “good vibes” this organization does one incredible job establishing a personalized and thoughtful itinerary for us travelers. It was an amazing experience working with locals while constructing a road and teaching English to the students of Sop Chem! I also appreciate the pay now, book later option making trips like these more accessible for college students like me! Thanks again GIVE, looking forward to Tanzania and Zanzibar!

My overall experience was excellent! I really felt like a family in the community through our various community service activities such as painting houses, releasing baby sea turtles, teaching English to the local kids, and participating in beach clean ups. I really enjoyed feeling welcomed into the country by the locals and not simply feeling as a disconnected tourist. Nicaragua is a beautiful country and I am so glad GIVE allowed me the opportunity to experience it in the way I did and really feel connected with the locals. If I were to have traveled on my own to Nicaragua, it wouldn't have been the same. All of the transportation (aside from flights) was taken care of by the organization which made the trip stress free! We went from a small fishing town Jiquilillo, to the City of Leon to Volcan Telica, to Cerro Negro, to Laguna de Apoyo, and ended it in Managua before we went home. I recommend traveling with give at least once in your life to truly experience the culture to where you're traveling to.

This trip truly gives you an opportunity to step out of your comfort zone and experience new things.

GIVE 🌳 I don’t think I could ever fully express how grateful I am. My recent volunteer trip to Costa Rica opened my eyes to an incredible amount of compassion, resilience, and gratitude for everything I am blessed with in my everyday life. This experience pushed me beyond my comfort zone and challenged me in ways I never expected. Throughout this journey, I learned that I am capable of stepping outside my comfort zone and enduring difficult moments—whether it was not being able to contact home every day or rewearing cold, wet socks. While these challenges seemed small at first, they taught me patience, adaptability, and appreciation for the present moment. One of the most impactful lessons I learned was about permaculture and sustainability, particularly how much of Costa Rica’s soil has been severely depleted. Years of harsh chemical use—especially fertilizers and pesticides used in large-scale banana and plantain farming—have stripped the soil of its natural nutrients. Seeing this firsthand helped me understand how deeply these practices affect not only the land, but also the people, wildlife, and communities that depend on it. Learning sustainable farming methods showed me how healing the land is possible through intentional care and respect for nature. Most importantly, this experience reshaped my understanding of what it means to be rich. Wealth is not measured by money or material possessions, but by happiness, connection, and community. I learned that children do not need social media, name-brand items, or material things to feel fulfilled. True happiness comes from being surrounded by a loving family, a supportive community, and a strong connection to the earth. Planting a fruit tree, allowing it to grow naturally, and nurturing it over time is its own form of wealth. This experience has left a lasting impact on my heart, and I will carry these lessons with me for the rest of my life.

I could not even begin to say enough great things about this experience. Every single person involved was passionate, educated, enthusiastic, helpful, and kind. Every moment on the trip was filled with education, fun, and unique experiences. We spent tons of time learning about the elephants in Thailand from people who are dedicated to continuing to help these animals. We also had a ton of cultural immersion with the Karen Tribe, Buddhism, and Thai culture. Every minute and dollar was worth more than I could explain. I would highly suggest this trip to anyone and everyone!

I went on the Thailand Elephant excursion. I had a wonderful time learning about the culture and gentle giants. The hosts P An , P Di and P Pon Pon were absolutely fantastic and helped me when I needed it with out question. This trip pushed my hiking abilities past what I expected but I never gave up and was cheered on through out my trip. It was a blessing having P Pon Pon on my trip. He was extremely helpful to me.

Mālama 'āina: Volunteer in Hawai'i with GIVE

I am so grateful for my second trip with GIVE Volunteers on the Big Island Hawai’i. The people of Hawai’i have endless stories to tell that most people will never hear (or listen to). I’ll never forget the moment after a beach cleanup with the Hawaiian Wildlife Fund, when a local told us, “You have two eyes two ears and one mouth…what that means is you should look and listen twice as much as you speak.” As he spoke, he looked over his ancestors’ land while the powerful waves of Kawa Bay crashed behind him. Our guides taught us just a few Hawaiian words, but the one that resonated with many of us throughout the trip was mana. Mana is the universal life force that moves through everything, and it is deeply powerful on this island. Mahalo nui loa to our wonderful trip guides, for their open hearts guiding us on this once-in-a-lifetime experience. And of course, I could never forget to mention the loving ohana of my fellow volunteers—these are the most wonderful, like-minded people all dedicated to our work each and every day.

This trip truly changed my life. It was my first solo international trip and I couldn't have felt more taken care of prior, during and after by the GIVE community. Despite being very nervous going in knowing no one, I made friends right off the bat and felt so welcomed by everyone. Jiquillilo also welcomed us with open arms and allowed us to learn from them about their culture, way of life and food and connect in a level I didn't know was possible. I loved my time in Nicaragua and especially loved surfing with the local guides, learning about sea turtle rescuing from Ramon and facing my fears sandboarding down the volcano. I will be going on another trip with GIVE for sure. If you are thinking about going, please do, it is such a fulfilling trip in so may ways!

I recently returned from the GIVE Volunteers trip to Tanzania, and it was truly a life-changing experience. From the moment we arrived, everything was well-organized, and the GIVE team made sure we felt safe, supported, and engaged every step of the way. The volunteer work was both meaningful and rewarding. We worked closely with the local community on sustainable development projects, including education initiatives and eco-friendly construction. It never felt like we were just there to “help” — instead, it was a mutual exchange of learning and collaboration. The GIVE staff did an amazing job educating us about the importance of ethical volunteering and responsible tourism, which added depth to every activity.

There truly aren’t enough words to describe my love for Laos. This trip has been life changing in so many aspects that I can’t even begin to describe. Arriving to the village after a 4 hour car ride and 2 hour boat ride, to see so many smiling faces eager to help you carry your bags is something I will never forget. I will never forget the children and ladies who remembered my name and would say hi to me as I walked through the village. I will never forget the smiles on the kids’ faces every morning as I walked into class. I will never forget the endless piggyback rides that were given to the kids, or the nights that were spent teaching the ladies in the village. I’ll never forget the laughs we shared as a group, the smiles we shared, and even the cries we shared. We shared so many memories that I wish I could go back and experience 1,000 times over again. We ate every meal together, hiked together, rice farmed together, danced with one another, cracked so many jokes together, checked in on eachother… the list goes on. We all endured so much together, and I wouldn’t trade any of it for the world. Without the help of any of my tour guides, none of this would have truly been possible. They gave us pep talk after pep talk and constantly encouraged us. If you were to have told me at the beginning of the trip that I would have been 8,000 miles away from home without service for 9 days and still had the best experience of my life, I probably wouldn’t have believed you, but I’m so glad I can look back at this trip with so much gratitude and love. To the cute kids who helped put a smile on my face when I was down, to the ladies who always uplifted my mood and gave me a laugh when needed, and to the other volunteers and guides who were there for me every step of the way, thank you. Khawp jai lai lai, Laos! You’ll always hold such a special place in my heart.

I went on every Southeast Asia trip, and I do not have a single regret. Each trip is unique and provides different opportunities to interact with the country, culture, and people. I genuinely was able to connect with not only those in the group, which I have made some lifelong friends by, but also the locals in every place that I have visited. In Laos specifically, after spending an incredible 9 days in Sop Chem working, teaching, and living with the locals, I feel as if I truly gained a second family. Even though we weren’t able to communicate all the time, I feel as if I was apart of their village. I was constantly playing games with all of the kids and learning from our locals guides and locals about the life of someone who lives there. We got to participate in local cultural ceremonies such as the Baci ceremony, where the locals get to thank you and give blessings and wishes to you as we get to eat, dance, and enjoy each other’s presence. It is these moments that I will remember forever and carry all of the lessons I’ve learned with me no matter where I go.

Kairo truly transformed my heart in the most wonderful ways. GIVE volunteers never ceases to show me how easily a complete strangers and a new community can become a second home so quickly. When you are surrounded by the authentic, likeminded people there is an instant sense of comfort. We were given the chance to learn so much about a community that is a true beating heart of GIVE. By breaking down so many barriers, stereotypes and opening our minds to new perspectives, Kairo village welcomed us with open hearts and taught us so many wonderful lessons about their culture. From learning how to make local food to teaching ESL and Computer skills and even connecting with wildlife on positive ethical levels, we were able to be truly immersed in a new culture and community in the most incredible ways, that I am so immense grateful for. My time in Zanzibar truly taught me the importance of being a global citizen, and it was reflected by the locals and volunteers everyday.

GIVE was the best experience of my life! Every aspect of the adventure was incredible! By the end of the trip you most certainly will have new perspectives on life, genuine friendships across the world and wonderful memories! The worst part of the trip is saying goodbye to your GIVE family and your new favorite place. Being a volunteer, you get to help others accomplish their dreams and goals, encourage women empowerment, support and learn about indigenous culture, educate many individuals, construct the locals needs and participate in wildlife conservation. The adventures are also unforgettable. To name a few- swimming with dolphins in the ocean, seeing the big 5 on an African Safari, summiting the largest free standing mountain in the world, exploring a spice farm, using recycled waste to make glass cups and dancing, cooking and weaving with the local women!!! Hakuna Matata- The guides and local staff take care of all your needs (including complicated diets) all while encouraging a positive environment. You will be supported and loved the entire journey! It was my first time traveling out of the country, but I felt secure and safe through the entire experience. Absolutely do a GIVE trip, you won’t regret it!

Laos GIVE Trip

Before GIVE Volunteers, I had never even heard of the country Laos. Now, it holds a very special place in my heart. Through GIVE, I had the opportunity to experience something truly unforgettable. From the moment we arrived in the village of Sop Chem, we were welcomed with open arms. The people of Sop Chem are some of the kindest, most genuine people I’ve ever met, and the community made us feel like family. I felt safe, supported, and cared for every moment of the trip. One of the most special parts of this trip was our local guides. They were not only incredibly knowledgeable, but also some of the most patient and kind people I’ve ever met. Whether we were learning about Lao traditions, history, or daily life, they were always eager to share, answer our questions, and help us connect on a deeper level with the culture around us. Our days were filled with purpose. We taught English to over 60 children and supported local women in learning conversational English to sell their handicrafts to tourists. We stayed in their homes and learned traditional weaving techniques. What made our experience so meaningful is that every volunteer project we took part in was what the community wanted and not what outsiders thought they needed. We helped build a new kitchen for the village school. In Luang Prabang, we went to a wildlife sanctuary where black bears are being rescued and protected from illegal wildlife trade and bile farming. We visited the UXO Museum and learned about the country’s history and struggles with unexploded bombs. Between the volunteering, we went ziplining over waterfalls, fishing in the river with locals, caving, and planting rice. Every activity felt meaningful and connected to the land and culture. The trip ended with a Baci Ceremony, an emotional and beautiful sendoff that captured the love and connection we had built in Sop Chem. It was a moment of gratitude I’ll never forget. I came to Laos not knowing what to expect. I left with a full heart, lifelong memories, and a second home in Sop Chem.

I thought everything was planned exceptionally well with GIVE. The experiences were meaningful and memorable. Our interactions with locals was genuine and we really got to know them. The itinerary was great, we had a good balance of cultural activities and adventures as well as time to spend getting to know each other. The connection I made with the local people, guides, and other volunteers was amazing and definitely one of the best experiences I’ve had in my life. The close contact with elephants in an environment where elephant safety and well being comes first was unforgettable. Learning to scuba dive in Thailand was a once in a lifetime opportunity and I’m so grateful that I got to do it

No review I write could ever truly encapsulate the time I spent in Laos. I learned so much about myself and the world while in the most beautiful country around the kindest and most amazing people I have met in a long time. Sop Chem village refreshed my soul and gave me a new perspective on life and how I want to live. I will forever be grateful for the unforgettable wisdom I got from Aiy’ Ton, the many laughs and stories from Aiy’ Sommaiy and Aiy’ Good, and the teaching and permaculture knowledge from Haylie and Mackenzie. Everyone who made this trip possible my heart goes out to you and I am thankful that you are able to share this amazing place with people like me. To the people of Sop Chem, your kindness and hospitality will never be forgotten and you will stay in my heart forever. Thank you to this beautiful world for reminding me why it is so important to care, why I am here, and the passion I have for protecting our planet.

I had such an amazing experience at Thailand Scuba! This was my first GIVE trip and just like many others I talked to, I was very nervous and a bit apprehensive about flying to the other side of the world with people I had never met before. However, I could not have asked for a more meaningful trip. I had so much fun learning how to scuba dive and gained so much knowledge on the local people and ecosystems. Nice and Seth were the most awesome, funniest, and smartest guides I could have asked for. All of the fellow volunteers on my trip were amazing and many of them I will speak to for years to come. I am so grateful to GIVE for allowing me to live this experience and the amount of effort that everyone put into making this trip what it was. Truly an educational, fun, and fulfilling week spent in Thailand that will never be forgotten.

Live Laugh Love

Program: GIVE Laos: Community Empowerment & Wildlife Conservation

5

Over the past few years, I have been increasingly involved in my local communities; however, I have always struggled to see the real impact of my actions. When I heard about GIVE Volunteers during my first year of university, it sounded amazing. I would get to meet like-minded individuals, see the world, learn more about cultures, and make an impact that not only would I be able to see but also feel. After being convinced to sign up at 2 in the morning on a random Tuesday night by completely random thoughts to myself, I knew that I had made the right decision, but not until I reached my first destination did I realize just how correct I was. I went on two different trips: Scuba Thailand and Lao, and let me just say, nothing they can show you online will do either of them justice. Thailand: The Scuba Thailand trip is an amazing opportunity to learn to scuba dive and to learn about actual applications of it in marine life conservation, but you don’t just get to learn about it, you also get the chance to actually put it to work. Despite this trip being a rather short one at only 10 days, I am certain that some of the connections I made on this trip will last a lifetime, probably more if they could. Lao: The Lao trip is out of this world. From what I saw and have heard, it embodies the roots of what GIVE is trying to do. You work hand in hand with the community to make a difference through bottom-up development; you can see the effects TRICKLE down into the community. Teaching kids a language while you don’t speak theirs may be frightening to some, but I can assure you, it is some of the most fun that you will likely ever have. Furthermore, the feeling you get from one of your students coming up to you and using what you have taught them to try to talk to you is absolutely out of this world. Live, Laugh, Love

The nourishment my garden/life needed

Program: GIVE Laos: Community Empowerment & Wildlife Conservation

5

When you’re encapsulated by an environment so intimate and genuine, I sometimes find it difficult to articulate the full spectrum of the impact it holds. With such an intense and immediate impact, my perspectives and journey in this life of mine have forever changed/expanded following my GIVE trip. I think this is because it’s not just one or many things that you learn/unlearn or are inspired by… in my everyday life, since my GIVE trip to Laos, I am constantly reflecting on and utilizing different moments and insights from the trip. It holds a presence in my life no matter where I am or how long ago I was there. The experience guides me through life, helping me grow and become a more open-minded, confident, compassionate, and aware human being. A few highlights from my trip to Laos include ziplining over waterfalls, meditating in caves, learning how to make kombucha, learning from and teaching the women and kids in the village of Sopchem, partaking in an Alms ceremony (sharing food with the monks), once in a lifetime conversation with a monk, hiking to a hidden waterfall, cooking class, working with the free the bears foundation, learning about and visiting the UXO museum (heavy heart when I learned about this information), and SO SO much more! At the end of your time in Sopchem, you get the privilege to be involved in a Baci Ceremony, a Lao farewell tradition, where the entire village comes together to prepare one last union between the volunteers and the village. They prepare dinner, a guided blessing, and then the ENTIRE village will go around and share love, gratitude, and a blessing with each and every volunteer. It was one of the most wholesome, heartfelt experiences of my life. On a broader and more personal note, my trip to Laos helped me realize just how much I value the concept behind being a global citizen. How separation between human life doesn’t actually exist. How walls, distance, religion, ethnicity, etc. don’t change that we all bleed red. That every human on this planet has come from the same source, and we all deserve to live a healthy and fearless life. How mother nature is our home, and anywhere in the world is our backyard! My guides and the community in Laos taught me that no seed, no step goes without rippling out into this world – our world! I am forever grateful to have a piece of every adventure and human I crossed paths with in Laos in my heart – the heart that they all tremendously grew and filled with so much love! Thank you, GIVE and the crew/community in Laos, for providing the opportunity to grow and learn in such a safe and wholesome environment. GIVE helps nourish your garden – it plants the seeds of awareness into your garden. Whether it be the seeds of culture, permaculture, curiosity, history, or empathy, the seeds are planted, watered, and then you get to watch them grow and form this beautiful garden of your own. How inspiring is it to then watch the seeds from your garden help nourish others gardens!

TRAVEL WITH GIVE TO THAILAND!!!

It's hard to even put into words how much this trip truly impacted me. It was hands down the best two weeks of my life I have ever lived- truly beat my unforgettable and amazing four years of college. I have been home for two weeks now and an hour does not go by without me reminiscing on all of the great moments we had together as a group in Thailand. Traveling with GIVE was the best decision I could have ever made for myself. This unforgettable experience allowed me to fully immerse myself in the Thailand culture from cooking classes to language classes to dancing with the children. I was able to make connections with the locals, guides, and other volunteers that I will hold onto forever. Everyone was genuine, kind, and there for the right reason. Teaching the children was eyeopening and so powerful. I loved going into the classroom and watching the children's faces light up when they saw us arrive. I would love to teach over seas after this experience in the future! Participating in permaculture was another big highlight for me. We only had a short amount of time and it was amazing to see how far we came. Together as a team we worked so hard and made an impact on the community. Our trip to Thailand was so personalized, organized, and wholesome. We got to travel to three of our guides home villages where they welcomed us with open arms and shared their ways of living with us. Words don't even do justice to say how amazing this trip was. Thank you GIVE for giving me this experience, changing my life in the best way possible, and for all of the people you blessed me with through this trip. Special shoutouts go out to all of the guides- P' Nick, P' Krit, P' Boca, P' Tony, P' Yanne, P' Chelsey, P' Chloe, P' Boon, P' Au!! So inspiring, impactful, wholesome, and they just enjoy living life in each moment of every day. You all are seriously the best humans I have ever met and I hope to be half of what you all are one day. I could sit here all day and type all the best things about traveling to Thailand with GIVE but I think the biggest takeaway anyone reading this should take is- book the trip!!! Traveling to Thailand was the first time I traveled out of the country- I was nervous and did not know what to expect going somewhere so far away from home with a group of strangers. My best friend and I took the leap and booked the trip and the only regret we left with was not staying longer to do the add on trips. This trip truly impacted the both of us in so many great ways and we are already starting to plan our next one!! Travel with GIVE, travel with a purpose!!!

My experience with GIVE while visiting Nicaragua was absolutely incredible and deeply meaningful. The local guide, Moises, was not only knowledgeable but also passionate about sharing his country’s rich history and culture. The other guides, Megan and Tanner, brought so much warmth, energy, and support to the entire trip. As a Muslim, I had hoped to visit the only mosque in the country, and GIVE went out of their way to make that possible for me. I’m already in the process of planning my next trip with GIVE for next summer. I would absolutely recommend GIVE to anyone looking for a purposeful, culturally immersive, and life-changing experience.

My experience traveling through Northern Thailand with GIVE truly changed my life in the most amazing way. It’s been a week since I returned home, and not a day has gone by where I haven’t thought about, laughed about, talked about, or even cried over how much I love and miss being in Thailand with such an incredible group of travelers and guides. When I landed at the Chiang Mai airport, I was fearful and unsure of what to expect, but the moment my friend and I were greeted by our local guides, all of that fear melted away. Their warmth and kindness put us at ease very quickly. Our trip was so personalized and unique. We visited the home villages of three of our local guides, where they welcomed us and shared their culture and daily lives in such a heartfelt way. I loved teaching at Mueang Khong School and Mueang Khong Anuban (preschool) alongside the other volunteers, and I felt so supported by our amazing guides the entire time. Another highlight was participating in permaculture work as it was so fun and it felt incredible to see the progress we made as a team. I also learned so much about Thai culture through lessons in the language, weaving, cooking, and traditional dancing. I could write a whole novel about how amazing this experience was. I want to thank P’ Yanne, P’ Tony, P’ Nick, P’ Boka, P’ Krit, P’ Au, Chelsey, Chloe, all our drivers, hosts, and fellow travelers for changing my life in the most incredible way. I am already planning my next trip with GIVE after how incredible this trip was!

Traveling with GIVE to Laos was single handedly the most impactful and fulfilling traveling I have ever experienced. I know that before my trip I was full of concerns regarding traveling the world on my own and volunteering in different countries in a respectful and helpful way. I’m happy to say that this trip exceeded my expectations for meaningful volunteering and sustainable practices! What I wasn't expecting was the lifelong friendships and powerful connections I made with not only my fellow volunteers but also the amazing and strong people of Sop Chem. The connections GIVE has with these local communities is inspiring, and whether it was teaching English, shoveling sand, or sharing a beautiful dinner with the community on our last night, I truly felt welcomed in these places that months ago would have seemed so foreign to me. A special thank you to all the incredible GIVE guides, they will be there to support you through every stomach ache, tear shed, and beautiful moment experienced, you all truly made Laos all the more impactful and special. Yes it was very hot, and there will be moments that push you way out of your comfort zone, but if you are looking for a meaningful and life changing volunteer experience, GO TO LAOS WITH GIVE!!

Once in a lifetime experience in Laos with GIVE

First, I want to address a few concerns that some people I met had about the Laos GIVE trip. The trip cost and traveling across the world by themselves. I believe that this experience was invaluable and it was something that I will forever hold close to my heart. If cost is a problem for you I would recommend fundraising for your trip. I appreciated being informed during my trip of where my money was going to. The logistics like accommodations, transportation, food and activities are all covered with the trip price. Most importantly, GIVE does a wonderful job of using those funds to support local businesses and people everywhere you go throughout the trip. By going on this trip you get to support the local people of Laos so they can provide for their families and make a living. One thing I appreciate about GIVE is that they push you out of your comfort zone. During this trip you will experience personal growth, discover new insights about the world and gain a fresh and meaningful outlook on life. Traveling across the world to a country you know nothing about can be intimidating, but once you arrive in Laos you will be greeted by the nicest guides that will make you feel like you are home. Also, you get to meet other like-minded volunteers that you will get very close with on the trip. There has been so much to reflect on after returning home from the Laos GIVE trip. The local guides make this experience so special by having connections and relationships with people in the communities that you visit. Experiencing the Lao culture was an incredible adventure. The kindness and warmth of the people make you feel welcomed, like you're in a second home. Their genuine hospitality creates a special bond. You'll stay in a remote village for the majority of the trip, where you'll be fully immersed into the culture and live alongside the locals. You will have the chance to teach English to kids, helping create a brighter future for them. You'll also get involved in local projects like permaculture and construction work that makes you feel like you are a part of something greater than yourself. Along with all of that, you'll get to experience the everyday lives of the men and women of the village that work hard to weave, fish and farm rice. You'll learn so much from the locals and guides about the history, traditions, and way of life of the village. You'll encounter a different way of life, characterized by hard work and resilience. Though it can be challenging, its clear how much joy they find in their simplicity. The strong sense of community is something you'll never forget, and the love they have for one another is evident. Their lifestyle is genuinely inspiring, and I hope to bring a piece of that back to my own community. The bonds and connections I formed with the locals will always hold a special place in my heart, and I know that if I return, I'll always have another home away from home. Thank you GIVE Volunteers for this life changing experience!

I like honest reviews not just good reviews, so…you are thinking about Give – Laos. The first thing I think you should know is that it is hot, really hot. Not Arizona desert (lived there for 5 years) hot, not US South (lived there for 4 years) hot. This is a totally different hot, and they do NOT provide air conditioning once you are fully immersed in the rural village, because it is not a thing there. So, keep this in mind and think of ways you can pack a portable cooling device. I fully recommend bringing a solar or battery-operated fan to assist. If you want to go big, bring a portable single room/cubicle unit to cool off your accommodation at night. Just remember that electricity is like gold, so it is recommended that you use it sparingly. Now that we are past that, it was a great experience. Others who went on Thailand stated that was more vacation-y while this was more volunteer like. You spent you AM teaching English to the kids, your PM doing a permaculture or construction project. Evenings were usually a nice learning experience or helping the village. For example, we taught basic words to assist the ladies of the village in selling their wares or we learned to cook a native meal. The men took us fishing on their boats and the ladies taught is how they weave. The people of the village are what will draw you back. They were all lovely people who are more than willing to share everything and help you with anything. They also have a great sense of humor, and they speak and understand enough English that there is not a point where it becomes uncomfortable. Watch out for Leanne, that lady is a hustler and will talk you into spending all your money at her booth, lol! If you are willing to get past the heat (or go in the winter months), this is a great volunteer fulfilling experience.

I have now done two trips through GIVE to Costa Rica and Tanzania. They have both been the most life changing, empowering, transformative experiences. Being able to travel with a purpose and meet like-minded people has been so incredibly special. The guides I have had are absolutely amazing. They truly care about each volunteer and their well-being, and the local guides are so happy to share their home and culture with you. It is an experience like no other, being able to actually immerse yourself in the local culture and get to truly know the community. They do a perfect mix of volunteer work and fun activities, and are always working to make it educational and impactful!

It is an eye opening trip that teaches you about the importance of the impact of you everyday activities in ways you could never imagine. The great thing about this trip is that all of your money goes directly to the community through the fun activities because they all involve locals. You will meet lovely and welcoming people that are so excited to share their culture with you while you serve them.

This GIVE experience changed my life and was completely unforgettable. Our guides, P’Chiarra, P’Dee, P’Pohn Pohn and P’Anne made this trip magical and so so special. It taught me the importance of ethical tourism and that we all have to do our part in educating ourselves on these issues that could hurt our beautiful world. It helped me realize that I could be part of a smaller ripple that could make a bigger wave. I plan to share my experience to inspire others by educating others about ecotourism and the mission that GIVE dedicates themselves too. I want others to be able to see experience everything me and my group did and see how beautiful our world can be when we step out of our comfort zones and take that leap. Thank you GIVE for the best trip of my entire life and for changing the perspective of my life. This company made me realize how I want to move forward with my own career and do my own part in this mission.

Thank you for an incredible experience!

This summer I had the chance to go on the Thailand experience with GIVE and it was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. I learned many things about Thai culture, Karen culture, other people from different parts of the US, and myself. Between teaching children English in the village of Mueang Khong to doing permaculture at different locations to visiting the tribe villages of Ba Kao Lam and Pong Ngen, I was able to grow so much as an individual and see other people grow. I was able to get really close to my fellow volunteers, but also my amazing guides. Each of the local guides brought something special to the trip and taught me many new things. They were very open and willing to share their culture with us and learn about ours in turn. Everyone in my group bonded together and created a family; each and every one of them made a difference in my life and made me a slightly better person. Thanks to GIVE for having these opportunities to travel and visit local places to immerse ourselves in new cultures.

Traveling to Thailand with GIVE was an unforgettable experience. Building meaningful connections with the guides and local community allowed me to truly immerse myself in the culture and gain a deeper sense of perspective and appreciation. Some of my favorite moments included participating in cooking classes, attending ceremonial dinners, and both teaching and learning in local schools. The adventure didn’t stop there—bungee jumping and bamboo rafting added an extra thrill to the journey. I wholeheartedly recommend this trip to anyone looking for a life-changing experience.

Traveling with Give will allow you to volunteer, try new foods, see beautiful places, meet wonderful people, and learn a great deal in a short time. No matter who the person is, anyone who comes on a Give trip for the first time will leave the trip with memories to last a lifetime and a new, more profound insight into life. I highly recommend this program to new travelers who are apprehensive about planning their first trip to a foreign country. Every detail is handled for you with Give, allowing you to focus your mental energy on all the great new experiences instead of the frustrating parts of travel. I am so grateful for my time with Give, and I encourage anyone thinking about going on a Give trip themselves to do it!

I cant wait to come back to visit the guides, all the beautiful people and places I met throughout this trip, and my fellow volunteers that have grown to be my family. This trip was an amazing experience! I found forever friends with the other people that went on my trip and my guides were amazing. Shoutout to P'Ann, P'Dee, and P'Phon for creating a once in a lifetime experience. They are genuinely some of the kindest and most caring people I've ever met. They made me feel safe and cared for in a new enviornment. I can't rave about them enough. The trip itself was also such an amazing experience.v Being up close to all the elephants and learning about the Thai culture was unbelievable and I can't wait to go on another GIVE trip soon!

Traveling with GIVE was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Being welcomed into the communities in Thailand and having the opportunity to truly immerse myself in their culture was an experience I’ll never forget. The connections I made—both with the locals and fellow volunteers—were genuine and meaningful. Working on projects that directly benefit the community gave me a real sense of purpose and showed me just how much of an impact you can have, even in a short amount of time. It was inspiring, humbling, and incredibly fulfilling. I’d do it all over again in a heartbeat.

Seth and Nice were both amazing guides for me and my group, and I felt like I was really able to experience the authentic Thai culture while visiting. Alyssa from the Fast Manta team was my scuba instructor and she also blew it out of the park with her instruction it was amazing. Genuinely no complaints, I already want to go do it again and I just got home yesterday!

My review of GIVE: northern Thailand

This was an inspiring, unforgettable, and life changing experience. I had so many amazing experiences with the guides, the locals, and my fellow volunteers that I will treasure for a lifetime. I went to Thailand expecting to meet fun people and go on cool excursions, like caving and elephant trekking, but I left with so much more than that. I was given the opportunity to live among locals and experience their culture in a way that I had never imagined. I learned that where many Americans think people live difficult and unhappy lives, people are actually much happier and able to support themselves just using the world around them and living sustainably. This trip did contain hard parts, like farming and building a greenhouse, and enduring difficult weather conditions like extreme heat and rain, so if you are not up for it, it might not be the best fit. However, if you are willing to look past few inconveniences, it is worth it to watch the communities you visit benefit from your hard work and use these experiences to improve your own life. I would 100% recommend it to anyone searching for an incredible experience.

WOW my GIVE trip to Thailand this winter was so special! I participated in the Thailand, Elephants, and SCUBA programs that allowed me to experience both Northern and Southern Thailand for a whole month! Every day was an adventure, and I got to do some of the craziest things I've ever done with some of the best people I've ever met. The local guides made it so special, showing us their homes and their culture, which is something I would have never experienced if I had travelled there on my own. This trip made me feel alive again. I am so grateful to GIVE for all they do, and continuing to provide these life changing experiences for travelers. I've already booked my next GIVE trip!!!

I adored my trip to Thailand in the winter of 24-25. The volunteers that I went with were some of the most hilarious, intelligent, and kindhearted people ever, who I will never forget and most definitely stay friends with for a long time. The guides were equally amazing and I will miss them for as long as it takes for me to make it back to Thailand someday! I was able to learn so much about myself, Thai culture, and the Thai natives on my trip that I will never forget. I had so many once-in-a-lifetime experiences on this trip including getting to spend a day with an elephant and getting to feed it, going bungee jumping, and having access to small close-knit communities in northern Thailand that I otherwise may never have gotten the chance to go to without the amazing local guides. More importantly, however, I got to form close relationships with the kids that we taught and get real experience in the classroom while learning how much of a relationship you can build with someone without necessarily even speaking the same language. It was challenging and exciting and I desperately wish I could go back and see those kids again now that I’m home. GIVE taught me a lot about sustainable tourism and the importance of behaving as a respectful guest in a foreign country. Rather than walk all over someone else’s culture and take advantage of it, GIVE taught me the importance of learning the culture and respecting it through dressing culturally appropriately, attempting to learn some of the language and customs, and entering the country with an open mind and a non-judgemental attitude. I am counting down the seconds until I can be fortunate enough to go on another GIVE trip!

This is totally worth the money! Every penny you pay goes towards making your trip an amazing experience, and it gives back to the local community! It may seem expensive, but it is much better than spending your money at an all-inclusive resort somewhere that doesn't pay their workers a fair wage. The people you meet are truly one of a kind, and GIVE does its best to make everyone feel included and happy. Even if you are not the most adventurous person, you'll want to be on this trip. They make you comfortable with being uncomfortable. During your time on the trip, you'll see how fun it is to try new things and help people out! It's truly an unforgettable experience that you don't want to miss out on. Money comes back, but missed opportunities don't. They literally take care of everything, even getting flights is easy through their partners. there is not any travel anxiety going into it because they plan everything out for you, and you just gotta bring your energy! Do it you won't regret it.

Wow, is Give Volunteer special! This company provided a safe, positive, welcoming, and motivating environment for my month long adventure in Southeast Asia! Words cant describe how grateful I am to have had the opportunity to travel to both Thailand and Laos! The trips included inspiring guides with endless knowledge and welcoming energy, unforgettable endeavors in caves, rivers, villages, and more, and a packed yet organized itinerary! I truly felt safe the entire trip which helped me be present in the culture and activities! I learned so much more than I even imagined about permaculture, teaching english, Buddhism, and more. Not only were the guides amazing but all of the participants and I became family! This program is set up to encourage likeminded people to come together to make the world a better place. This was my second trip with GIVE and it did not disappoint in the slightest! Each day of the trip I was challenged to seek discomfort and map my own journey, all while having the support from EVERYONE around me. The balance between volunteering and adventure was perfect. Zip lining through the jungle and white water rafting down the Pacuare River were absolutely exhilarating. Volunteering at Finca las Hormigas and in the local town of Gandoca expanded my perspective and fueled a deep desire to make a meaningful impact.

I went on my first trip with Give Volunteers over the summer and went to Costa Rica and it was the best experience I have ever had. I chose to go for 2 weeks but wish I had added on the Nicaragua option. This organization provides you to learn all about the world and experience different places. It is extremely organized and is so simple to figure out. This organization answered every time I called and answered all of my questions with no problem! When I tell you this experience changed my life I am being 100% honest. I had such an amazing time I’m going to Tanzania over the summer for my 2nd give trip and can’t wait!! Being my first trip with GIVE, I was extremely nervous about what the experience would be like. When I had arrived in Costa Rica with the rest of my group, I immediately felt welcomed by all of the GIVE staff and fellow trip goers. I have never traveled outside the States and this is by far the best choice I have ever made. Waking up in the village of Kairo with amazing volunteers, the kindest staff, and locals was rewarding enough. I highly recommend this trip and traveling with a purpose. There seems to be a subtle charm to Laos not many people get to see and I felt incredible lucky to experience. The beautiful green landscape of this country is beyond beautiful. I loved the pace of the program. We had a lot of time to take in such beauty and engage in meditation and even deep conversations with our fellow travelers. Although the level of comfort fluctuated throughout the trip, it felt intentional and you get to grow to love it. Staying at a remote small village, Sop Chem, felt unreal and extremely different from what you are probably used to. Giving back to this community through education, permaculture projects, and overall social engagement felt effortless. The people here are so warm and welcoming. I can genuinely say I'll carry all I learned with me for a long long time.

Habari Marafiki! ?? A year ago, I encountered a bright green flier with the words “GIVE” in bold while sitting in my math class at Illinois State University. Feeling reverse culture shock after a transformative first semester of college living in Costa Rica, I can’t explain the happiness I felt when I saw this bright green opportunity in front of me. I now realize these moments we encounter, when our heart beats, our smile grows, and our minds turn their gears, are signs of a manifestation awaiting our presence. ✨ “If you have YOUR WILL, you’ll find YOUR WAY”. ? This summer, I was blessed to travel to Africa, the motherland, for the first time, volunteer as an English teacher to a hardworking Masai tribe, sweat with the construction crew as we built cement pavements for the Yakairo GIVE primary school in Zanzibar, Tanzania, and go on insightful excursions: safari, swimming with dolphins, visiting the original slave market and museum in Stone town. Last week we ascended 5,895 meters to the world’s tallest freestanding mountain, Mt.Kilimanjaro! I couldn't have made it to the roof of Africa if it wasn't for every hand who helped make this experience possible for me, including the best guides, porters, chefs at Green Paw Adventures and supportive GIVE Volunteers in Tanzania! ?? Congratulations to everyone pushing their limits and conquering new heights for themselves! ? “Travel is not a place outside of reality, but into reality”. - Professor Kent, Suny Cortland, Ecotourism Course ? Thank you GIVE (Growth International Volunteer Excursions) and the family of Kairo for touching me deeply with your smiles, your laughter, your dreams, your pole pole “slowly slowly” and hakuna matata “no worries” lifestyle. Above all, thank you for sharing your abundant love and care, without hesitation of giving me the shoes off your feet or a warm meal inside of your home. Thank you GIVE guides, volunteers, teachers, chefs, and the many helping hands that continue to help build our community up from its roots. ? “Thank you again for supporting my beautiful village of Kario, it misses you all very much”. - Baboi, GIVE Tanzania Guide ❤️

If you're willing and fully immerse yourself this will be an experience of a lifetime. Some people on the trip seemed to want more of a vacation abroad with a focus on partying. This trip isn't like that, it's a cultural awakening. You get to experience a new way of life firsthand and you have amazing local guides to make everything fun and easy to learn. I can't put into words how wonderful it is to have local guides, they made the trip and I can't imagine Thailand without them. Something I've been saying to people who ask "How was Thailand?" is that Thailand is the land of smiles. That's its nickname and it holds so true. Everyone was happy and friendly, I smiled and waved at all the people I passed. As happy as you are to be halfway around the globe, the locals are so happy and proud that you came to them. Making connections despite the language barrier was so easy because both sides were happy to be with one another. If you think this is something you want to do, do it. You only live once, so conquer your fears!

This was an incredible experience. I felt so taken care of and did not have to worry about a single thing. From white-water rafting to zip-lining to night safaris, we were never bored. The tour guides were amazing and so welcoming, they made the trip as special as it was. Learning about permaculture and sustainability was so eye-opening and being able to stay on a farm where it was actually being done made it seem so possible. I felt so immersed in the culture from only eating at mom and pop restaurants and choosing where to spend my dollar. I will definitely be going on another trip!

My trip to Tanzania impacted me more than I could have ever imagined. Each day was filled with so much joy, so much passion, and most of all a bigger purpose. Each day was a new gift, engaging and getting to know each of our students and in return getting to learn about their cultures in an immersed way. By the end of this trip each of the locals truly left an imprint on my heart, Kairo is a place with the most beautiful souls and the most love to give. I also did the Kilimanjaro add on and it was the best way to end such an amazing experience! So challenging, supportive and beautiful all at the same time!

This was the experience of a lifetime with GIVE. The guides are so amazing, literally giving the volunteers the shoes off their feet and the shirts off their back. GIVE staff put their full effort into truly making this experience the best it possibly can for volunteers and the locals. Would go again!!! More specifically, my trip to Tanzania and Zanzibar was a blast. It was a great mix of culture, volunteering, education, and fun! The people I met will be friends for a lifetime and I will never forget this experience. Highly recommend!

My trip to Thailand was the most rewarding and fulfilling experience! In only two weeks, I got the opportunity to fully immerse myself in Thai culture. The guides on the trip were easily the most insightful, inspiring, and pure humans. From playing with and teaching the kids at the schools to working in the permaculture field, each day offered a new chance to learn, grow, and challenge yourself. While in Thailand, I had never felt more grounded and at peace thanks to all of the welcoming and truly kind locals we had the pleasure of meeting. Getting the chance to embark on this adventure has been indescribable and absolutely life-changing. I am forever grateful for this journey for changing my perspective on life, teaching me how to care for our planet, and allowing me to make life-long friendships. Choosing to travel with GIVE was the best decision I ever made.

Wow! Take the jump! This Thailand experience is something you won’t regret doing! From learning straight from the local people of Thailand to staying the night with hill tribe villages this experience will allow for you to be fully immersed in the culture! Volunteering in the classrooms with the kids brought out my inner child and allowed for me to connect with the kids even though we didn’t speak the same language! Volunteering with permaculture opened my mind about sustainability living and I can continue it at home! This trip allowed for me to meet new best friends and grow in ways I didn’t think were possible! This experience will teach you how to travel responsible and how you can make an impact! Thank you Give!

If you are ever questioning whether this GIVE is for you, I hope this will help. Going to Thailand was probably the best thing I could’ve done cause it showed me not just how much I can push myself, but also taught me how to be a global citizen. How to respect and learn about cultures and people in the best way possible. GIVE allows you to meet people like you and allows you, no matter how small, to plant a seed of change, not just in the communities that you visit but also in yourself.

Where do I even begin… when describing my trip to Thailand through give it leaves me almost speechless as I reminisce on all the opportunities, lessons, adventures, and feelings I get thinking about it. The guides are such authentic humans who hold so much passion and knowledge for the Thai culture and everything in between. Prior to my trip I’ve never traveled alone, let alone by myself out of the country, but the moment my feet were grounded in chiang mai, I have never felt safer and more present. This trip taught me so much about myself, the environment, Thai culture, human interactions, growth opportunities, and so so many insightful perspectives. I cannot express enough the gratitude I hold towards the give program and all their guides for believing in us and showing us how to truly live open minded and present. I warn you now, once you go, you’ll never want to come back home!!! Take the leap out of your comfort zone and join a give trip… it’s the trip of a lifetime ????

This trip was perfect in absolutely every aspect, it was more than I ever expected it to be! They planned out every second of our time and are so organized with each thing we had to do with and amazing timely manner. Each day was filled with new adventures and I enjoyed the layout of the itinerary because it had several exciting experiences for us, but it also provided us with some downtime to relax and reflect on the activities we do and teachings we learn. The guides were one of the best parts of being on this trip because they made each moment special and memorable while also feeding us so much information about their local culture! It was the best part of my life and I would do this time and time again!!!

GIVE is an absolutely incredible organization and you would be silly to chose anyone else. When you travel with GIVE you are fully immersed in the culture, you live and feel like a local. With GIVE you get experiences like no other tourist will ever get, you get to do good by volunteering in your host communities while having fun too! I was transformed by my time in Southeast Asia with GIVE, I got to experience a culture completely different from the one I was raised in a safe and meaningful way. When traveling I became apart of the communities we were volunteering in and I felt like I was family to these communities that had only known me for a few days to weeks and it was so wonderful. GIVE has opened my minded to a whole new world of possibilities, they have shown me through a number of experiences how amazing it can feel going outside your comfort zone - it is there that life truly begins! I urge you if you are unsure or on the edge about traveling with GIVE just do it, take that leap of faith, it will be the best decision you ever make!

I spent 2 weeks in the beautiful village of Kairo on the island of Zanzibar. From teaching the awesome Maasai Tribe to mixing concrete to make pathways for the students (with dance breaks of course) I have made memories that I will cherish forever. This was my second trip with GIVE and this program will always be my favorite to travel with. From the locals to my fellow volunteers, I ended my trip with a family who I can always count on. If you are on the fence about booking a trip, I urge you to just go for it. It may seem scary but I promise you, that you will have the best time of your life. This past May I had the opportunity to travel to Thailand with GIVE volunteers, a non-profit organization dedicated “to inspire growth, empower global citizens, and ignite sustainable change worldwide”. This trip was an immersion in the remote hill-tribe communities of Northern Thailand for two weeks. As a team of young adults, we focused on sustainable agriculture, English education, and elephant conservation. Even though I'm an experienced traveler, this was by far the best trip of my life, and a once-in-a-lifetime, life-changing experience.

Working with GIVE was an amazing experience. I was able to meet so many wonderful people, experience new cultures, branch outside of my comfort zone, and grow as a person. Being able to see the reefs and learn all about sharks and their importance was a highlight of the trip. You get to scuba dive, snorkel with reef sharks, kayak through mangroves, plant mangroves, support local businesses, and so much more. If you are looking for a way to travel as well as make a difference, I would highly recommend GIVE. Even though my bag was lost for a few days, my guides were so helpful in getting it back as well as checking in on anything I needed. I cannot stress enough how AMAZING our guides were. This was my first time traveling outside of the country by myself, so knowing they were there to help with my luggage or if I wasn't feeling well was so helpful.

—an experience that transcended mere travel and delved deep into cultural immersion and global citizenship. From the moment we set foot on this mesmerizing island, every aspect of our journey was meticulously crafted to blend learning, community impact, and personal growth. Zanzibar welcomed us with open arms, offering a tapestry of cultures that enriched our understanding of diversity. Through interactions with locals, we not only embraced Swahili traditions but also shared our own cultural heritage. This exchange fostered mutual respect and appreciation, reminding us of the beauty in our differences. Exploring the intersection of economic policies and tourism was eye-opening. We saw firsthand how sustainable tourism practices can uplift communities while preserving natural resources. Engaging with local entrepreneurs and learning about their challenges underscored the importance of responsible travel—a lesson that will resonate long after our journey. What started as a group of 20 strangers quickly evolved into a tight-knit family. Together, we tackled challenges, celebrated victories, and forged bonds that transcended borders. Sharing meals, stories, and laughter created memories that will forever unite us as global citizens. Our journey extended beyond personal growth to making a meaningful impact. Through community projects and volunteer work, we contributed to initiatives that empower locals and promote sustainable development. The warmth and hospitality of the Zanzibari people, who welcomed us into their homes and hearts, reinforced the transformative power of human connection. Zanzibar taught us what it means to be a global citizen—to embrace cultural diversity, advocate for sustainable practices, and share knowledge with humility and respect. Each encounter, whether with a fellow traveler or a local artisan, reaffirmed our commitment to fostering positive change in the world. My GIVE trip to Zanzibar was more than just a journey; it was a profound exploration of culture, community, and compassion. It highlighted the transformative impact of stepping outside our comfort zones and embracing new perspectives. As I return home, I carry with me not only memories of breathtaking landscapes and vibrant cultures but also a renewed sense of purpose—to continue learning, sharing, and advocating for a more interconnected world. In essence, Zanzibar has left an indelible mark on my heart, reminding me of the power of travel to inspire, educate, and unite.

This experience is incredibly unique, as you’re not just traveling as a tourist, but as a global citizen immersed in the country that you’re volunteering in. Traveling with local guides allows you to really dive deep into a better understanding of Thai culture and its importance and value in our world. Each activity and experience we did was enriching and extremely enjoyable. Volunteering gives you new perspectives and is incredibly rewarding in all aspects. I thoroughly enjoyed these moments as much as if not more than any of the touristy excursions. What’s more is the people you meet and the lessons you learn along the way. I have learned so much from each of them and have returned to my country extremely grateful for this life that we all get to live together. A truly unforgettable experience. I highly highly recommend.

This June I traveled to Laos with GIVE. I was recruited for this program during my time at college. I chose to do this trip and travel across the world by myself. The experiences I gained during this time were invaluable. I had an amazing group of guides who motivated me and taught me things that I will keep with me forever. The itinerary was laid out perfectly with adequate time for adventure, leisure, and volunteering. Working with the children and women of Sop Chem was the most impactful part of this trip. This experience was beyond what I even imagined it could be. If you are reading this, you should definitely consider going to meet the amazing guides and people in Laos!

The Costa Rica GIVE trip genuinely changed my life for the better. I am still brought to tears every time I look back on my trip memories with the most amazing people and wish I could do it again and again. I learned so much about sustainable living, composting, and the lifestyle of permaculture farming. I also genuinely had so much fun and met the most amazing people who all share similar mindsets. Our GIVE guides were incredible and so were all the people we met throughout our volunteering. Getting to see such beautiful places and do such incredibly fun things all while leaving a genuine positive impact is something I wish everyone could experience. Seriously 10/10 recommend this trip. I will never forget white water rafting, ziplining, exploring the jungle, eating plants from the farm, morning yoga, dance parties, delicious food, the gorgeous beaches and waterfalls, the friendships made, and so so much more. During my time a broad with Give Volunteers I was immersed into the culture of a village in Zanzibar called Kairo. This was my very first time traveling with GIVE and it was epic! During my time spent her I partook in two main volunteering sections, these included Contruction and teaching. During Contruction we made cement as a group, shoveled our newly made cement into wheelbarrows, where we then dumped the cement onto a surface to create a foundation that will soon be a new computer classroom for the locals. During school I taught one of the local tribes, this group of men we the Maasai. During teaching we were divided into separate levels and we taught them English. This experience was very eye opening as well as inspiring for my future. This program is incredible and very reliable. I cannot wait to hopefully continue my travels with Give!

Each destination came with its own culture whether it was city life, a farm in the jungle, waterfalls, small town beaches, or glamping on the Pacuare River shoreline. All of the locals help you emerge into the culture smoothly. They are amazing people to learn from as they are very knowledgable with their first hand experience. They keep you safe while providing a fun, eyeopening opportunity.

The balance between free moments in which I was able to explore Thailand with the amazing friends I made along the way, as well as the times in which we were hiking to see elephants or travelling to see monuments was perfect!

Prior to attending this GIVE trip to Nicaragua, I had never gone on a trip without my family; let alone going to a foreign country all by myself. The trip started out rocky, some weather delayed the trip 1 day for myself and 4 other travelers however once we arrived, we were welcomed with open arms by everyone. Being fully immersed in the culture and community of Jiquilillo was truly an eye opening experience. From learning how to surf and make tortillas with the locals to climbing two active volcanoes, so many memories were made on this trip and I will forever hold Jiquilillo in my heart. I am so profoundly grateful to have had this experience with this amazingly beautiful group of people. Going on this trip has truly opened my eyes as to how to be a true global citizen and how to leave long lasting handprints on my community and the world. I 100% recommend stepping outside of your comfort zone and taking the step to go on a GIVE trip. Making memories with a group of people you only just met and being able to experience the things you will experience on this trip is truly the experience of a lifetime.

This is was my first volunteer trip with GIVE and I absolutely loved it. I just got back from my trip and it was fantastic. The guides were always there to answer our questions and if we had any issues with anything they were there to help us out. Never did I feel unsafe in the environment. my fellow volunteers were a constant encouragement during construction, education, and my additional trip to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro. The locals were always happy and excited to see us and they understood that me and my group were not tourist. We were there to make change in the small town of Kairo. One of the best highlights of the trip was just seeing how free and happy the locals were and how inviting they were to include us in their daily lives. GIVE was excellent in response time before the trip even started and I had no flight troubles going and coming home. I honestly would do this trip again in the future because of how organized and safe it was. One thing I would recommend to any going to Tanzania would be to bring electrolytes and all the cash that you plan on spending in USD so your not constantly looking for an ATM when you run out of money. (There’s only a few opportunities to get cash) if you choose to do this trip have fun and embrace everyday with an open mind, you won’t regret it.

Getting to be fully immersed in so many different cultures really opened my eyes to what it really means to be human and to travel sustainable. We got to go on epic adventures, see elephants in the wild, meditate with monks, make an impact on permaculture plots, learn about local villages and spend loads of quality time with each other and the locals. I cant wait to go back.

My trip to Laos with Give was transformative and inspiring. We had the opportunity to go on fun adventures, bond with the local community, work hard for a bigger goal, and become friends with so many people. I loved zip lining, going to the bear sanctuary, swimming in waterfalls, but the best part was the friends, jokes, and amazing people of Sopchem.

Heading to the village of Kairo I wasn't sure what to expect , but the reality of it was well beyond any image that I had created in my mind. There was constant laughter, games, dance parties, and so much love. I fell asleep every single night with sore cheeks from laughing so much and with a full heart from the amount of love and support that is carried throughout this village. Us volunteers helped construct a school for Kairo. Our local guides taught us to mix cement by hand and helped us load wheelbarrows of rubble to build the students a computer lab. On the construction site there was constant words of encouragement, laughter, and of course, dance parties. Although we were all working so hard our construction guides, Biggie, Smile, Baboi, and MC never failed to make it SO much fun. Each of them work so hard all day long, but still constantly have a smile on their face. As well as doing construction , we got to tutor local students. I was fortunate enough to be put into a classroom with the Maasai tribe. These boys worked all night and still came to the classroom at 9 in the morning. Each one of them were so eager and determined to learn. They made the classroom so special and so much fun. The excitement and encouragement that they showed each other was extremely heartwarming. Although we did not speak the same language , I have never had so much fun or felt so connected in a classroom. A special thank you to Talha, Kao, Caroline, Aumor, and Sophi for their help in the classroom. The village of Kairo is now 100% my favorite place on earth. Not only because of its beauty, but because of how pure, kind , postive , and fun the locals are despite the challenges in their village. I am not sure how to comprehend or explain how amazing my experience in the Kairo village was. I am overwhelmed by the amount of love I now have for each and every person I have met on this trip. To say I am heartbroken having to leave my new family is an understatement.

Words cannot describe how absolutely incredible this experience is! The people, community, fellow volunteers, guides, and students make this place feel home. The communication while planning your trip is outstanding and all my questions were answered very promptly, along with their in depth preparation package that is provided helping you pack and set expectations of the trip. After arriving everything is taken care of for you, transportations, accommodations, food, help with creating lesson plans, boat trips, safari you name it and GIVE has it covered! The guides did an incredible job with ensuring we knew what was to come in the upcoming days, and were always there to lend a hand. Whether it was sickness, needing a bandaid, a hug, advice, a shoulder to cry on, they were always there with open arms for whatever you needed. This is the most rewarding, fun, eye opening experience and Tanzania will always have a special place in my heart. This trip truly helps you grow as a person and gives you such a perspective on life, and who you are as a person. All I can say is BOOK THE DANG TRIP! There is not one bad thing I can say about this experience and the GIVE program!

I was not expecting such an awesome trip with GIVE. I was nervous signing up because I hadn’t heard of this program before and it seemed too good to be true, but it’s the real deal. I’m happy I picked the Tanzania trip and got to learn so much from my time there. With GIVE you can fully immerse yourself in the culture there and learn so much from the community. This experience was great and it was so much fun. It was nice to have everything set up for me and the schedule was reasonable. Work hard play hard. You will be doing a lot of good with your time in Tanzania and actually be able to see your impact and progress which I thought was really cool. You will also gain fun memorable experiences only a few people will get the chance to experience. Only thing left to say is get on it and take this trip!

I highly recommend traveling through give volunteers. It was an experience of a lifetime and I’m looking forward to another trip with them. This is a legit program and they are very knowledgeable. I had a lot of questions through the whole process and someone was there to answer them all in a timely manner. There is a great balance of fun, work, and learning. I met so many new friends that I can count on even after the trip ended. The Tanzania program specifically was wonderful the community there is inspiring. The guides are amazing people who are there for you, very supportive, and really made the trip one to remember. If you are reading this because you’re undecided and need a sign, take this as your sign to book the Tanzania trip!

Volunteering in Thailand was the best experience of a lifetime. I got to meet so many amazing individuals including local guides, fellow volunteers, and the overall community in Mueang Khong. Traveling with Give has been the best. I am able to travel in a safe and sustainable way. I get to be involved within the community. Give directly asks the community what they need help with. We get to directly interact and learn from those around us. In Thailand I learned to live in the moment and take in each experience!

I did the Thailand experience with GIVE this year and it is one of the best experiences i have ever had. At first i was a little skeptical as it seemed too good to be true but surely enough it was just as it said if not better. We were emerged in the tradition culture of northern Thailand, visited the rural villages, bamboo rafted, were able to wash and feed the elephants and I made so many new friends that i will have for life. It was a once in a lifetime experience and with the help of the local guides and Give guides the experience was incredible from the fun activities we did to the permaculture and educational teaching we did in rural schools teaching english. I love GIVE and it is definitely something you should book!

My GIVE Tanzania + Zanzibar trip was a life changing experience to say the least. EVERY single GIVE guide, volunteer, and community member inspired me throughout the trip and made the experience unforgettable. I cannot recommend doing a GIVE trip enough... I cannot wait to embark on my next trip -- and continue to impact the communities GIVE works with. This trip genuinely changed my life and impacted me in ways I would have NEVERf expected. Amazing Volunteer Trip in Nicaragua and Costa Rica with GIVE

Give Volunteers is an incredible organization that focuses on empowering local communities and creating global citizens. The trips are truly life-changing and fuel a passion in the volunteers who build deep connections. My trip to Nicaragua and Costa Rica was amazing, I got to experience beautiful countries full of beautiful people who welcomed us into their community, and despite language barriers, got to experience connections that transcend the borders of countries. On my trip, we worked on English education at a school kids chose to come to after their regular school, town cleanups, farm work, supporting local businesses, workers, and organizations, and more. This trip has given me friendships that will last a lifetime and a fire to continue my journey as a global citizen and always give back! :)

Along with 25 other volunteers, I arrived on the island of Zanzibar, a part of the country of Tanzania, to immerse ourselves in the local culture and leave a positive impact within the community. We had the opportunity to learn the rich history of Kairo and the island of Zanzibar as a whole. Life on the island looks a little different than on the mainland, but that doesn’t take away from the beauty of the land and it’s people. The past two weeks have been full of hauling rubble (gravel), mixing cement, clearing brush, and teaching English and computer skills to the citizens of Kairo. As a group, our main goal was to finish the stage being built in the new testing center at the local elementary school, as well as clear ground for a new computer lab to be built (which future volunteers will continue to work on until it is completed!) The school can then use the stage for local events and make an income towards school fundings. The computer lab will be used for the GIVE tutoring program, since they currently use the elementary school’s computer room. Right now, my group is beginning our two-day water & land safari before we all fly home (U.S., Canada, & Australia!) and the second volunteer group of the summer is arriving on the island to take over where we left off! The impact this opportunity has left on my life is immeasurable. Along the way, I got to learn some of the Swahili language (not spoken anywhere else in the world!!) and try so many local food dishes. Being able to experience first-hand the living conditions in Tanzania was life-changing, and seeing how genuinely happy the citizens are means so much more. This experience has proven that materialistic things cannot create happiness, but the people we surround ourselves with. Speaking of the people, the citizens of Kairo are some of the kindest people I have ever gotten the pleasure of meeting. There was never a time when someone would pass you on the street without offering the greeting “Mambo!” (Hello!) with a smile on their faces. Each of our students were so eager to learn. They would show up to class early everyday and ASK for homework. It was so inspiring to watch them grow in their education and openness to our teaching. The people I met along the way were just as inspiring. From my fellow volunteers to the local staff and guides, each one of them had the purest hearts and biggest aspirations. I’ll miss the daily laughs we shared and each unique personality of the local staff members who never failed to put a smile on my face. The relationships that I have built with them have been incredibly hard to leave behind, knowing there is a slim chance I will see any of them again. I am incredibly thankful to GIVE Volunteers for offering me this incredible opportunity, the positive impact they are making all over the world is truly amazing, and I am so blessed to have been able to be a small part it. I highly recommend looking into their efforts of leaving our home better than before, there are so many ways to participate.

I think when I committed to going on my trip, I thought it would just be a really fun experience mixed with volunteerism. I did not expect the relationships built, the empowerment of locals and ourselves, and being pushed sooo far out of my comfort zone. For these, I am so grateful. I’ve made lifelong friends, I know to push myself 3 steps farther than I used to, and I have plans already to do another Give trip. The memories, adventure, love, and knowledge were worth every penny and I have no regrets.

GIVE's Laos program is an incredible opportunity for true cultural immersion across two weeks of intricately planned days and activities. I signed up for the trip because of the teaching English aspect and it was so much more! The eight days in Sop Chem were my favorite part of the trip because we were able to personally connect with the locals by learning about their daily lives and being taught how to weave, fish, make rice wine and more. The culmination of the trip in the Basi ceremony is an amazing opportunity to reconnect with everyone you've met in the village and recognize what an impact you can make, and others can make on you in such a short period of time. After this trip, I want to do more research on how to be a better global citizen and sign up for as many more GIVE trips as possible! I'm especially grateful for Aiy'Touy, Aiy'Good, Aiy'Dave, Haylie, and Javi for being excellent guides who support and challenge throughout the trip.

Volunteering in Laos was absolutely incredible and inspired me to continue being a proactive global citizen. Before getting to Laos, I knew nothing about the country. Throughout this trip, it was amazing to learn about the culture, history, food, and people of Laos. I was also able to gain important insight into the field of permaculture and how important it is to sustainably and ethically care for the lands we live on. I found my purpose in Laos, which is educating children, something that I never would have imagined myself saying three years ago. I am constantly inspired by the local guides who continue to better the lives of the people around them every day and the resilient families who were so welcoming and truly made us feel like family.

I‘m gonna be honest, when I first learned about GIVE I was skeptical about it, thinking it was a scam. However, what sold me was the in person meetings with the GIVE staff. They settled my nerves and convinced me to go. In terms of the trip itself, it far exceeded my expectations. The local guides were SO amazing, they provided knowledge about the culture like no other. They were super fun, made relationships with everyone, and enhanced the trip so much. It was an experience that you can’t get anywhere else. All the staff cared for us and made sure we were all okay, no matter what we were doing. I made amazing life-long friendships with my fellow volunteers and the locals. I would definitely do it again. Thank you GIVE volunteers ?

Most meaningful and life changing experience

I had the most life changing experience. From the guides, to the other volunteers, to the people in the village, I was fortunate enough to make the most meaningful memories to last a lifetime. I was able to not only learn so much about myself, but also about the history of Laos which was reinforced during discussions every few days. These discussions were actual one of my favorite parts of the trip because it really allowed me to put myself in the shoes of the people who lived their and fully immerse myself in their culture in a respectful way. From this trip, I was able to take home lifelong bonds with these amazing people who have inspired me everyday to become a better version of myself and motivated me to inspire others to be global citizens. I have also taken home what I have learned about other cultures to be able to be more well rounded in helping people around the world in my professional career and well as the practices such as meditation, yoga, journaling, and other forms of being in the present to help me stay true to myself and in tune with my body. This trip allowed me to discover confidence in myself to achieve my goals in the future in all aspects of my life to be courageous enough to fight back when society tries to tell me that “this is all for nothing” and to be strong enough to stand up for what I believe to be the truth is to make the world a better place because I know that my voice on my own is enough to spark change in global citizens. I took home newfound knowledge of UXO’s and the bias of the Vietnam war and to keep an open mind when learning to stay away from bias and find the truth in the situation. and lastly, I have taken home what I learned on how to be more self reliant and sustainable and find ways to incorporate it into my everyday life and educate others so they can do the same. I have recommended this trip to everyone who has asked about it and am endlessly grateful to have had the opportunity to visit this beautiful country.

It's truly hard to put into words how incredible my experience with GIVE was. From day 1 we were all welcomed into the vibrant culture of Tanzania with open arms. I fell in love with teaching each and every student. Seeing their level of hard work and dedication was truly inspiring. Days working on construction were so rewarding and the guides did a fabulous job of keeping group energy up with so much dancing and fun! Of course aside from the volunteer projects there was so much adventure involved, swimming with dolphins and the safari felt so surreal. It can definitely be intimidating to take the leap but it is 100% worth it. This was my second trip with GIVE and I would do it all again in a heartbeat!

Along with volunteering at school and construction projects, we swam with wild dolphins, visited a spice farm, learned about the extensive and rich history of the island, and went on a two day safari.

Without my guides this experience wouldn’t have been possible. Thank you to my guides Hannah, Faith, Baboi, Talha, and Green paw for making Tanzania an unforgettable place. ????
