Add first reviewVerifiedSince 2005

Volunteer on the tropical, southern coast of Sri Lanka to teach English to Buddhist monks! Funding is very low for English teaching as the monastery focuses so heavily on Buddhist teachings. Volunteers on this program will have the opportunity to engage in cultural exchange with these students as well as help them learn basic English. Volunteers will plan lessons and teach in the mornings. Each class will consist of 2-15 monk students, between the ages of 11-19. In the afternoons, volunteers can join a women's literacy program, teach at a kindergarten or explore on their own!

Program Highlights

Participate in cultural exchange with Sri Lankan Buddhist monk students

Teach morning English language lessons to eager students

Become more passionate about teaching and giving back

Live on the tropical coast of Sri Lanka and spend free afternoons at world-class beaches

Make memories (and friends) that will last a lifetime with fellow volunteers
